Reinforcement for prestressed concrete. A type of reinforcement is known which consists of two parts, one of which is subjected to tension and the other is subjected to compression, so that, once this reinforcement has been embossed and after the concrete has hardened, we do not All that is required is to remove the connection between the two parts so that the tensioned part transmits to the concrete a prestress corresponding to the value of the tension.
In this known device, the parts making up the frame rest locally one on the other, and between two adjacent points the compressed part is free. This part must be sufficiently resistant against flam bage. It is therefore impossible to give it flexibility.
According to the invention, the reinforcement for giving the concrete a prestressing, having a part under tensile pressure and a part under compression, the part named last being supported by the part named first and the two parts which can be released at their ends, so that after the embellishment of the reinforcement and the hardening of the concrete, by the release of the connection between the two parts, the concrete can be constrained by the part tensioned and the compressed part can be moved away,
is characterized by the fact that the. compressed part is enveloped over its entire surface by a traction sheath and by the fact that said sheath and the compressed part are flexible bridges and that this flexibility is retained in the reinforcement under load. The flexibility of the two elements can be obtained, either by the use of wires, grouped in several cords or in a single cable, having a cross section with a very low moment of inertia, or, as regards the compressed part , by the use of rigid elements of weak lon gueur articulated on each other.
This reinforcement is preferably constituted by a sheath which is resistant to traction. a very strong core, ligatures and end anchors.
The elements constituting the sheath are preferably cabled son :, that is to say wound in a helix on a cylindrical surface in one or more layers, or braided son, that is to say grouped in two series of crossed threads or even cabled and braided threads.
You can use small or very small yarns. diameter, cabled and braided by adjoining or non-contiguous elements or tapes, increasing the contact surface and the roughness of the profile, to ensure, by continuous anchoring, the intimate connection of the sheath claimed in the construction and consequently the effective diffusion of the pre stresses when the compressed core is released and recovered, regardless of the system of static or dynamic loads and overloads.
Highly stretched, the different cabled elements of the sheath can be tightened together until they form a tubular system similar to closed or semi-closed cables. If the elements are braided, the waterproofing of the sheath can be obtained by using, for one of the layers of threads, tapes having a circumscribed lenticular profile, the outer threads of which are, if necessary, coated or made up of all suitable plastics.
It may be more appropriate to seek the tightness of the system by supplementing the properties of the sheath by the use of a core particularly designed to be at the same time resistant, articulated, expandable and waterproof.
The core should preferably transmit to the anchors the important reactions of the sheath, have an extremely low inertia to adapt to the curvatures, keep in the curves an equal length of all its fibers, ensure perfect centering elements composing the reinforcement and allow systematic stripping of the core while allowing sufficient waterproofing. These qualities can be ensured either by a single organ or by a combination of elements.
The core can be made up of metal elements of short lengths, with an appropriate profile: spherical, cylindrical, bi-tapered, etc.
The elements can have at the ends either two convexities, or a concavity and a convexity of spherical or cylindrical shape being superimposed or interlocking one in the other and, with a view to their extraction, be joined together by all appropriate means or devices: wire or cable passing through a longitudinal channel, wedge or dovetail wedge, clip-on spring-sleeve, external spiral spring, elastic clips, -etc. .
The expandable device ensuring the centering and stripping of the core may or may not be independent of the resistant core. and put, had place with or before it; he can. tare consisting either of balloon springs with contiguous or not contiguous leaves, flexible clips, etc.
This expandable device can be put into action by any shortening (mechanical approximation, dilation, elastic contraction, etc.) of the elements of the chain constituting the resistant nucleus, shortening which causes significant transverse swelling of the order of 'ho.
These shortenings can be obtained naked, or by elastic deformation. elementary ares under increasing thrusts, either by sliding a wedge system, or by any other means producing the same effect.
It is also possible to use all the auxiliary means ensuring the industrial exploitation of the core, for example: devices for limiting the radii of curvature. filling of internal voids with any suitable material: clay, grease, etc., ensuring complete sealing under concrete or injections, reducing the risk of corrosion and lubricating the system.
For example, during the commissioning of a reinforcement by heating the anchors, the reactions of the core cause the flow of the fusible material, then the tearing of the anchor under the double action of the elastic return of the resistant core and the expandable device from which the lubricating material exudes, facilitating the stripping.
The manufacture of the reinforcements may include the cabling and braiding of the resistant elements constituting the. sheath, the cutting thereof into sections of sufficient lengths, the seasoning of the anchors on the ends of these sections, the installation of the expandable device. the core before or after tensioning the gain section on a drawing bench, the. compression of the resistant core, operating or not on each anchor, locking the stresses introduced into the system.
Thus treated, the pretended reinforcements can be wound on suitable drums without altering their elastic properties and shipped economically.
For their use, they are incorporated into constructions such as ordinary reinforcements after having undergone any shaping respecting only the original length and a limit curvature depending on the wiring of the elements of the sheath. When the bonding material to the construction has sufficient strength, the potential forces are released by unlocking the anchors.
These and the elements constituting the core can be returned to the factory on the reels which transported the reinforcements.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, two embodiments of the mature ar according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a cross section of one embodiment of the reinforcement, as prepared, for its subsequent use.
Fig.2 shows, in perspective view on an enlarged scale, an end anchor. Fig. 3 is a longitudinal section of the complete frame with its two anchors. Fig. 4 shows the anchor in section. longitudinal on a larger scale.
The fi-. 5 shows, in perspective, a second embodiment in the area of its anchoring.
Fig. 6 shows, schematically, details of the constitution of the core of this frame.
In fig. 1 to 4, 1 is the sheath, 2 is the core, 3 is a ligature.
The cross section of the reinforcement can be any: circular, square, flat, etc.
The sheath is formed by a tube oia preferably by parallel elements, contiguous or not, such as hard steel wires (round, square, flats, twisted, etc.). In the embodiment chosen in the drawing, the sheath 1 is formed by steel wires such as, FIG. 2 to 4.
The choice of the elements constituting the sheath depends on the general economy of the construction and on the maximum possible adhesion with the prestressed material.
The core can be solid and continuous, wrapped or not, or preferably constituted either by a spring with contiguous square wire, or by a stack of very hard metal pellets, or by a bundle of hard parallel wires. The drawing only shows core 2 schematically.
The optimum shape of the core is linked only to the possibility of its reuse, because it is made free when the reactions of the sheath have been transferred to the construction and it can then be extracted from the sheath by any suitable device. (traction, contraction, etc.).
The ligatures can be formed either by turns of contiguous wires, rings, rings or washers sufficiently elastic to maintain a tight clamping of the elements forming the frame, or by a continuous wire wound with the spacing of the turns, like that of the others fasteners defined above, can be calculated according to the desired curvatures and the resistance of the elements constituting the core.
The end anchors meet the following conditions: 1 In the commercial form of the reinforcement: ensure the balance of the internal system of forces.
2 When in use: allow sufficient distribution of the forces on the prestressed material.
By way of example, the anchors may correspond to the device of FIG. 2.
The elements lb of the sheath 1 are spread out and locked in a head 4, which shell, solid or compound, concrete hoop or metal tightening band. Solidarity. of the head 4, staples or ears 5, for example arranged in two pairs, as seen in fi-. 2, make it possible to achieve traction on this head 4, that is to say on the sheath 1, as indicated by the arrows T, while a compression reaction is exerted, on the core 2 by a means which shell (jack, etc.) according to arrow C.
The desired internal force system is then stabilized by a key 6 which locks the core on the sheath via the lugs 5. In FIG. 2, line 6 'indicates the axis of the keying.
The armature can be tensioned and pressurized using any mechanical or thermal means (jacks, screws, wedges, expansion, torsion, etc.), operating indifferently on one or more the other of the end anchors, while the key locks the sheath and the core on the opposite anchor beforehand.
The framework thus formed and prepared contains, in the stable state, a known potential of forces. For its use, it is incorporated in the construction in the manner of an ordinary reinforcement, then, when the hardening of the concrete, for example, has reached the desired degree, is transferred to the material to be embraced said potential of forces in driving the keys out of the two anchors.
We can then extract the core 2, as has been said above. The head of the compressed nucleus located at the opposite end to. the one where the unlocking takes place is, for this purpose, disposed with gentle friction on the first element of said core, so that it is possible to remove the core from the end where the maneuver takes place, leaving the head located at the other end.
According to the second embodiment shown, the ends of the sheath 11, consisting of strands or wires 12, cabled and braided, are sealed by a fusible material 16 in the annular space between a base 14 and a cone 15.
The core 17, the resistant core of which is made up of nested elements 18 and of an expandable positive device 19 consisting of interlocking balloon spells with flexible arched lamellae 19 ', @ e-st placed at the inside the.
sheath 11 and compressed by the pusher 10 by the action of a dynamometric jack. This operation brings about the contact of all the elements 18 of the resistant core of the core and their elastic shortening, causing the transverse swelling of the expansible device 19 by accentuating the deflection of the flexible arcs 19 'and, consequently, the narrow centering of the core 17 in the sheath 11..
For a given operating voltage, the sheath-core system is locked by the action of nut 21. The armament is put into service, that is to say the unlocking of the accumulated forces is carried out by the action of a heating resistor 22 capping the base 14.
Creep of the fusible material 16 and release. of the anchor 18 occur under the double action of heat and the elastic return of the resistant core of the core: and of its expandable device.
It is then possible to recover the core by extraction, thanks to the substantial transverse play given by the flexible springs 19 which moreover secure all the elements 18 of the resistant core.
It must be understood that the two embodiments described above are given only for demonstration and not limitation.
