Patterned knitwear and method and machine for their manufacture. The invention relates to a patterned knitted fabric and to a method and a machine for their production. The purpose of the invention is the produc- tion of a coat fabric with a new pattern effect that can be used for a variety of purposes, but especially for items of clothing.
The patterned knitted fabric according to the invention has courses of a basic ware and additional stitches made of decorative threads, which stitches form longitudinal strips in the knitted fabric and are at least partially meshed with pockets of the basic fabric.
In a preferred embodiment of the knitted fabric according to the invention, the stitches made of decorative threads are knitted together with pucked-on sinker loops of the basic fabric.
The opened plate meshes of the basic goods can be connected directly to the stitches made of decorative threads in such a way that the cell-like effects formed by the opened stitches are contained within the decorative thread meshes.
The method according to the invention for the production of this knitted fabric consists in that during the production of the stitches rows from the basic fabric, laying of decorative threads in the manner of those of the warp fabric are carried out at the desired points and that at these points those obtained from the thread of the basic knitted fabric The sinker stitches are brought onto the needles by an opening process together with the laying of the decorative threads.
The needles, on which a decorative thread is placed, can knit both the decorative thread and the opened sinker stitches. In cases where a decorative thread should not be knitted together with stitches of the basic fabric, but should only be connected with such stitches, the decorative thread can be guided around a needle in such a way that the loop formed with one or more already on the needle Stitches are cast off without entering the hook of the needle.
The inventive patterned knitted goods can be produced on any knitting machine of the type with individually movable needles, especially, if not exclusively, on one that has two or more sets of needles, so that smooth goods, goods with left and left or Legal and legal effects or combinations thereof can be produced.
According to the invention, it is in any case a knitting machine, which thread-laying elements for decorative threads and Aufstoss- elements for sinker meshes of the basic knitted fabric, which elements can be brought to cooperate with each other and with the needles so that, in each case a laying of the Decorative thread and a sinker mesh transferred to an Aufselement can be brought to the same needle.
The thread-laying and pushing mechanisms can be designed so that the elements work together with any single predetermined needle or any two or more predetermined needles or groups of needles; however, they are preferably provided with a number of individually operable elements which are suitable for working together with all of the needles, so that the new pattern effect can be created on any or all of the needles as required.
The knitting machine according to the invention can be designed as a circular knitting machine or as a flat knitting machine.
So that the invention is better understood and can easily be put into practice, two exemplary embodiments of the knitted fabric according to the invention and one embodiment of the knitting machine according to the invention for producing this knitted fabric are described below with reference to the drawing. The knitting process according to the invention is also explained using the drawing, for example.
Fig. 1 shows schematically the front of part of the first embodiment of the knitted fabric.
2 shows a second embodiment of the knitted fabric according to the invention in the same view.
Fig. 3 is a vertical section of as much of a circular knitting machine having two superimposed, rotating needle cylinders, as is necessary to understand the present invention.
Fig. 4 shows in plan parts of the lower needle cylinder and the associated common carrier for the laying elements of the decorative thread and the Aufstosselemente.
FIG. 5 illustrates in perspective view some needles of the machine which work together with decorative thread guides and stitch opening elements to produce a knitted fabric of the type shown in FIG. 1, and FIG. 6 is a similar perspective view showing the manner and Manner of producing a knitted fabric as shown in FIG.
Identical parts are denoted by the same referral numbers throughout the drawing.
The part of the knit ware shown in Fig. 1 consists mainly of a smooth base material with ordinary Ma's ps. The needle wales of the basic fabric are designated with nw and the sinker wales with sw. In this example, free openings 0 are formed in the product, which are delimited by decorative thread loops.
This cell-like effect is created by knitting together decorative thread mesh it with popped sinkers mesh tl. Every two of the decorative thread stitches, that is to say one each of two adjacent needle wales nw, are meshed with an opened sinker mesh tl. The latter form transferred sinker loops and are produced by shifting the sinker loops laterally in opposite directions in one and the same wale of three successive rows C, D and F, as follows:
that said stitches are mixed with needle stitches ps' of the next row F. The transferred sinker loops are created through the use of a pair of pushing instruments as shown in FIG. The basic fabric is knitted from a single yarn y, which is shown not hatched for the sake of simplicity. On the other hand, the decorative threads t., Of which the stitches are made, shown hatched for better emergence.
In order to produce a transferred plahne mesh, a pair of burping instruments 8 is advanced until the base yarn y can be laid over their ends 8b (fixation 5). At this moment the mentioned ends 8b act as a plate over which the plate mesh sZ is drawn.
Thereupon the pushing instruments 8 are still moved all the way forward, so that the sinker mesh sl are withdrawn on the parts 8b and slide back over the elements until they run up against the bevels 8c. In this way, the pla.tinenmasche is spread apart, whereupon it can easily be penetrated by the neighboring needles 4 going upwards.
The elements are then withdrawn and the folded sinker mesh passes over to the needles 4 and is then intermeshed with the needle stitches of the corresponding wales in order to form transferred sinker loops.
An ornamental thread mesh is formed in the following way: The needle 4 around which the ornamental thread t is to be placed is first raised, as usual, in order to grasp the base yarn y, while at the same time the associated thread-laying element 7 is pushed forward to its Bring thread t from the inside to the outside of the needle circle. The element 7 is then withdrawn inside the needle circle, so that the thread t is placed around the needle, which the latter is then moved downwards and made of the yarn <I> y </I> and the thread <I> t </ I > Double mesh forms, as they are shown in Fig. 5 is.
During the Vorwärtsbewe movement of the element 7 makes its abo gener part 7b contact with the head of the I # Tadel 4, which causes the tongue to fold the same ben, whereupon the subsequent retraction of the element 7 of the thread t is placed around the needle. The stitches formed by the descending needle are cast off together so that the decorative thread t forms a cover stitch to a stitch made from the yarn y. As you can see when looking at Fig. 1, the stitches tl butted, that is, the transferring sinker meshes with the decorative thread are knitted together so that the Zel leneffekt O is formed within the decorative thread mesh.
This is due to the fact that each of the three opened stitches tl is knitted together on each side with a decorative thread stitch W 7, which is preceded by four other stitches of decorative threads in rows A., B, C and D. The pattern effect just described is therefore contained in two consecutive needle wales nw. The decorative threads are laid in the manner of warp fabrics and form longitudinal stripes in the knitted fabric.
In this example, floating f of the decorative threads G form on the back of the knitted fabric. These floats are sometimes undesirable. In these cases, the decorative thread t can be connected in the manner described below with reference to FIG. 2 with meshes of the basic fabric.
In the example according to FIG. 2, each of the decorative threads t is intertwined with all of the successive stitches ps of a wale of the basic fabric. For this reason, the stitches made from the decorative threads t are also connected to the opened plate stitches tl. As you can see, the stitches are so intertwined with the basic fabric that they appear as vertical stripes on the back of the same.
This pattern effect appears less vigorous on the front of the knitted fabric. Since the threads t are intertwined with the meshes ps in each row, floats such as those denoted by f in FIG. 1 are completely avoided. The way in which this pattern effect is generated is explained in greater detail later with reference to FIG.
The knits shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 can be produced on the circular left and right knitting machine described below with reference to FIGS. 3 to 6. The revolving smooth (under) and rib (upper) needle cylinders of the machine are labeled 2 and 3. 4 denotes one of the double latch needles, 5 and 6 represent lower and upper needle actuation slides by means of which the stitch-forming movements are transmitted to the needles and the needles can also be transferred from one cylinder to the other.
Therefore can be achieved by a suitable, predetermined or optional transfer of needles 4 from one cylinder to the other to produce left and left or edged goods, which z. B. can alternate with smooth goods, so that the most diverse mesh effects can be produced.
For this purpose, the machine can be equipped with an automatically controlled mechanism for needle selection in order to act in a known manner on stops on the slides. The machine now has a mechanism for laying decorative threads and a stitch opening mechanism such that a decorative thread and an opened sinker stitches are presented to the same needles.
These mechanisms have an individually operable thread guide elements 7 respectively. Stitch opening elements 8, which are designed in the manner shown in FIG. 5, with a thread guide element 7 and an opening element 8 being assigned to each needle. As can be seen from Fig. 3, the elements 7 and 8 are at a right angle, that is, transversely to the needles 4 to be ordered and movable.
Each of the guide elements 7 is lamellar and, as can be seen from FIG. 3, has at its end facing the needles an extension 7b directed downwards at a right angle, which is bent laterally in the manner indicated in FIG Space 7a delimits.
This extension 7b is thus inclined to the main part of the thread guide element and contains two holes 9 and 10 arranged one above the other for the thread passage. Another hole, 11, is located in the part of the element adjoining the extension 7b. The upper gante of each element 7 is shaped so that it forms a cam 7c for. the attack on suitable actuation stroke curves.
Each of the Aufstosselemente 8 has a lamellar shape and is laterally abge sets at 8a to form an arcuate part, the front end of which again extends radially like the rear part of the lamella. The front end of the element forms a nose 8b, and the element also has a mesh-engaging shoulder 8e at a distance from the nose. As with elements 7, the upper edge of each element 8 is the same out forms that a work stop 8d is present.
But while the cams 7c of the thread guide elements are high, the stops 8d are low to facilitate the selective actuation of the related elements by lifting cams.
As can be seen from FIG. 5, the pusher elements 8 are used in pairs in order to enable one or more circuit board meshes located thereon to be spread out sideways in opposite directions for transfer to adjacent needles.
In order to enable the generation of a variety of pattern or decorative effects, the thread guide elements and the Aufstosselemente can optionally operated the who. For this purpose, in the illustrated example, selection elements 12 are arranged with selection fingers 12a located thereon. which are in different planes and can act on the selection cams 13 and 14.
Each of the elements 7 and 8 is cut out on its underside for the purpose of adaptation to the associated selection element 12 and creation of a shoulder 15 against which the front end of said selection element can act. At its rear end, each selection element 12 is provided with an extension 12b protruding at right angles, on which the selection fingers 12a are provided. These latter are provided at different heights, so that they lie in different levels of horizontal levels.
The selection elements can originally be provided with a full set of breakable selection fingers <I> 12a. </I>, which are then broken off as required by the pattern formation. During each work process of the machine, one of the selection cams 13, 14 is used to select thread guide elements 7, while the other is used to select pushing elements 8.
Each of these selection cams can be moved in different planes in a perpendicular right direction. For easier actuation. are: the selection fingers 12a divided into an upper group <3 and a lower group B, where the fingers of one of these two groups are assigned to the thread guide elements and the fingers of the other group are assigned to the pushing elements.
Each of the selection cams 13, 14 is therefore only movable to such an extent that it can be moved in any of the planes of the fingers of the corresponding group. Thanks to this precautionary measure, it is therefore impossible to make a choice of the push-up elements or the thread guide elements by the incorrect selection cam.
Instead of seeing special selection elements 12, the selection fingers could also be provided directly on the thread guide and on the push-up elements themselves.
In any case, each of the selection cams 13, 14 is connected to the lower end of a perpendicularly arranged actuating rod 16, which is under spring action and is set up for movement in the directions of the arrows up and down. The operating rods extend to the top of the machine and are governed by any suitable interconnection from an A-pattern device (see e.g. British Patent Nos. 543097 and 549937).
The elements 7 and 8 sit on a disc 17 which is arranged horizontally within the needle cylinder 2 and 3 and concentric to them. In order to give the mentioned elements the necessary movements, a cam plate 28 acting on the cams 7c and 8d is provided in addition to the lifting system just described. An element 7 and an element 8 are provided for each needle 4, and these elements are accommodated in different radial grooves 18 of the disk 17. The number of the latter is twice the number of grooves 19 in the needle cylinders, as can be clearly seen from FIG.
The elements 7 and 8 could, however, also be accommodated side by side or one above the other in the same grooves, in which case only as many grooves 18 as grooves 19 would have to be provided. Said elements could also be housed in grooves which are formed on opposite sides of one and the same disk.
Instead of being mounted in a common disc, as just described, the two groups of elements 7 and 8 could be fitted in separate, grooved supports and interact with separate lifting systems.
The disk 17 is connected to a part 20a of a wheel 20 (FIG. 3). The (not shown) middle part of this wheel is perforated for the passage of the decorative threads t, which are fed to the guide elements 7 from bobbins located on a (not shown) structure on the cover plate 21 of the machine. The disk 17 is also carried by a ring 22 which has a flange 22a for connection to an annular carrier 23. On the disc 17, a clamping ring 22c is ruled out, with which a flange of the ring 22 is pressed against the edge of the disc 17 and thus the disc 17 is kept in the set position relative to the needle cylinders.
In the ring 22 grooves 22d are cut through which the elements 7 and 8 penetrate. The carrier 23 has a flange 23 a which enables it to be adjusted in the circumferential direction between two support rings 24 and 25 placed one above the other, which are connected to one another and to the lower end of the rim cylinder 3. This construction allows the disc 17 and thus the elements 7 and 8 to be displaced with respect to the needle cylinders by any mechanism. The disc 17 normally rotates with said cylinders.
It is arranged at such a height that the active ends of the thread guide elements 7 and the Aufstosselemente 8 in the space between the opposite needle cylinders can be advanced and retracted, so between the flange 22a and the tips 26a of the smooth cylinder 2 connected inner blanks (fabric holders) 26 carrying the workpiece.
The Aufstosselemente 8 are ausgebil det and arranged that they are able to correspond to the actuation, the transfer conditions of circuit board meshes such. B. to effect the sinker mesh sl in Fig. 5, on adjacent needles for the purpose of forming transferred sinker meshes.
As a result of such transferring, the relevant sinker meshes are naturally mixed with adjacent needle meshes, whereby openings are formed in the sinker mesh bars. Accordingly, by performing such a stitch transfer on different wales and in different rows, diversity can be obtained in openwork fabric.
The mesh transfer takes place in the following way: A desired Aufstosselemente- paa.r is first partially advanced by the described selection mechanism, namely by an amount that is just ge enough to grasp the sinker mesh formed by the ground yarn J, that is to say To lay noses 8b.
In this stage of the knitting process, these noses act as sinkers, over which sinker loops sl are pushed. In FIG. 5, a sinker mesh sl is shown, which was captured by a pair of elements 8 before it was spread outwards for transfer to adjacent needles 4.
The selected push-on elements 8 are then fully advanced so that the sinker mesh previously drawn over the noses 8b is caused to slide backwards along the elements until it is caught by the shoulders 8c. In this way, the sinker mesh is spread out sideways in such a way that the adjacent needles 4 ascending can easily pass through it.
Afterwards the elements 8 are withdrawn to their initial positions in order to keep them ready for re-electing. The sinker loop transferred to the two needles is then mixed with needle loops and forms, as mentioned above, transferred sinker loops. In the case of a three-stitch transmission, as is the case with the knitted fabric according to FIGS. 1 and 2, selected Aufstosselemente 8 catch three times one behind the other sinker stitches of the base yarn y before they are fully advanced and thus the stitches encounter needles.
According to Fig. 5 knit the needles on which sinker stitches are transferred, the base yarn y together with the decorative threads t. There are thereby, as shown in Fig. 1, formed on both sides of the opening 0 double mesh.
The connection of the decorative thread or the decorative threads with stitches of the basic knitted fabric for the purpose of forming longitudinal stripes in the knitted fabric can also be carried out while avoiding double stitches and floating decorative thread parts (Fig. 1) by pulling a decorative thread onto a needle so that it passes through a already on the needle is passed over without entering the hook. The part t1 of the decorative thread t shown in FIG. 6 has been passed over by a needle loop PS without having entered the hook 4a of the needle 4 '.
This results in the intermeshing of the decorative threads t shown in FIG. 2 with the stitches of the basic fabric y. For this purpose, means are provided to move the relevant needle or needles and the thread feed elements with respect to each other in the longitudinal direction of the needle or needles, so that when the feed elements are actuated in the manner described, the decorative thread continues removed from the hook than in the method according to FIG. 5, that is, behind the tongue, around the needle.
In the case of hook needles, the decorative thread may only reach the hook when the latter is no longer pressed during the knitting movement. For example, a mechanism of any shape can be provided in order to move the needles with respect to the thread feed elements either in their longitudinal direction or to move the feed elements along the needles. In the case of individually operable thread guides, as described with reference to the drawing, which are suitable net to deliver their threads to a needle or a group of two or more needles, selection means of any kind, eg.
B. in the form of a rotating pattern device with lifting cams or other elements that can be operated optionally, or a jacquard mechanism can be used to act on the needles or thread guides mentioned or on selection stops on such in order to give the needles or thread guides the necessary additional loading allocate movement.
The arrangement can also be such that the needles or thread feed elements to be operated are alternately moved against one of two different locations, so that in one position stitches are formed from decorative threads which, according to FIG. 1, double stitches with stitches of the basic fabric form, while in the other position of the ornamental thread only ver with the basic fabric is connected, as is the case with thread 1 in FIGS.
The invention is applicable to flat and round knitted fabric, which is knitted in one piece, that is, continuously, in order to subsequently be used for processing in garments, such as. B. sweaters, slipovers, Lismer, jackets and other to be tailored. The invention can also be applied to the knitting of long pieces in the form of a ribbon, which are butted together by separating rows or threads, so that they can easily be separated from one another. Furthermore, the invention can be applied to knitted objects in the manner of stockings, socks and the like, which can be knitted separately or created in tape form with dividing rows and tear threads.
The term "knitwear" thus denotes both knitted garments and continuously knitted goods.
The invention can also be used for knitted goods with a hem, knitted as edge goods, which can form the closing band of a Lismers, sweater or jacket or the edge of a stocking or a sock. The -Ränderware can be of the usual type, e.g. B. 1/1 or 2/2 goods; if there are several rows of edging goods, this can also have additional stitches made of decorative threads.
If such a product, in the form of clothing or articles in tape form with dividing rows and tearing threads between the hem of one piece and the main part of the next, a finished edge is obtained at one end of each piece if the pieces were removed the dividing rows respectively. Tear threads are separated.
Means can be seen on the machine that allow the position of the elements 7 and 8 and the needle cylinder to be changed in relation to one another during knitting, for example to move the elements sideways relative to the associated needles, so as to make the pattern effects even more varied shape; Furthermore, the same needles different yarns can be supplied to different, z. B. to produce different colored effects in the same needle stick.
On the circular knitting machine provided in the drawing, in part, a needle ring or a number of knock-off teeth 27 can be seen in conjunction with the needles 4 to facilitate the creation of zinc and left stitches. The ge called needle ring or the teeth can be movably arranged and so be prevailed that they can move away from the ele ments 7 and 8 when they are to act. For example, teeth constructed, arranged and operated as mentioned in patent specification No. 247207 can be used.
The needles of the machine, the mechanism for laying decorative threads and the mesh opening mechanism can be controlled in such a way that the new effects that can be achieved by these mechanisms are limited to one or more particular pieces of surface, e.g. For example, these flat pieces in the basic fabric can be formed by a jour effects with skipped stitches, by ordinary or imitation rib effects or by combinations of different types of stitches.
The knitted fabric according to the invention can be made on circular knitting machines with a single basic thread feed or with two or more thread feeds, with rotating or stationary needle cylinders and with latch or hook needles.
On a machine with two or more feeds for the basic thread, more than one knitting point for decorative threads can be easily seen with the appropriate actuating means.
The machine may have means for producing an offset movement of the needle beds one with respect to the other so that offset right-right goods can be produced.
Additional effects can be created in the knitted fabric by dropping accumulated sinker loops.
The machine can also be designed as a flat left and left knitting machine. When creating the knitted fabric according to the invention in the form of a stocking or a sock, these can be implemented with a split sole. Accordingly, means can be provided on a machine suitable for the production of such articles to lead to the foot leaf needles and the heel and forefoot needles depending on special yarns and to cause certain needles of both groups to knit both yarns.
