Process for pressing pipe strings from synthetic resin or synthetic resin-containing molding compounds.
The production of tubular bodies from pure synthetic resin or compounds containing synthetic resin in the greatest possible lengths is known per se. Such pipe strings serve, for example, as a substitute for pipes made of glass, stoneware or metal for conveying any gaseous or liquid medicine, also as insulating pipes for receiving bare or insulated electrical cables, but also, for example, as curtain or Ilaltestaugen or as other objects of daily use.
For the production of tubular insulating bodies, various types of extrusion processes have become known, the special feature of which is that the mass is pressed over a mandrel in press molds (press cylinders) open at the outlet end, shaped and possibly finally cured. In the process, the mold is unevenly heated, namely less in the loading zone, more heated in the exit end, and the required counter pressure is achieved by conical design of the exit end of the mold or by special: clamping jaws.
The invention relates to a method for pressing pipe strings made of synthetic resin or synthetic resin-containing molding compounds, which are pressed over a mandrel in molds which are open at the outlet end and which are uniformly heated over their entire length. According to the invention, it is proposed to coordinate the temperature profile along the mandrel and its length in such a way that the counterpressure required for pressing is achieved by the friction that occurs between the compact and the mandrel due to the shrinkage of the compact. The regulation of the temperature profile is advantageously carried out in that the compact is cooled to a greater or lesser extent and thereby shrinks onto the mandrel in the required manner. The amount of back pressure can also be conveniently regulated by adjusting the length of the mandrel, which z.
B. is possible in that the mandrel is either slidable and lockable in its axial direction or is cut to a certain length.
The drawing illustrates an extruder, on the basis of which exemplary embodiments of the method according to the invention are explained. The press has a column-like frame a with a mounting plate b for holding the actual press cylinder c, the uniform heating of which is illustrated by stimulus channels d. The heating can take place by means of piped water, steam, by electrical means or the like. The form c has a filling space e, which is followed by the actual pressing space f. An upper handle g with an appropriately replaceable pressure ram h is mounted displaceably on the frame a. The upper pusher g is connected to the drive device i, for example a hydraulic drive.
The steel mandrel k is attached to a frame plate j, specifically in the exemplary embodiment in such a way that the mandrel k penetrating the press cylinder f can be displaced in its axial direction and held in any position.
The device works as follows:
The mass to be processed is poured into the filling space e and the drive i is then set in motion in such a way that the pressure ram h penetrates into the filling space e and the mass is pressed more and more into the press cylinder f via the mandrel k. The work process takes place step by step, as is also the case with the known extrusion processes. After each time the upper pusher g drops, new mass is poured into the filling space e of the form c. A pipe string m is gradually formed on the mandrel 7G and can be made as long as desired and the sections of which are first converted into a plastic state and finally into the hardened state by heating the mold c.
As soon as the compact m leaves the mold c, it cools down as a result of the action of the outside temperature and shrinks onto the core k, so that the counterpressure required for pressing is achieved with the friction between the compact and the mandrel k. For this purpose, the temperature profile along the mandrel and its length must be coordinated. It is up to you to let the cooling take place slowly by sliding insulating sleeves onto the part of the pressed part m protruding from the mold c or to accelerate the cooling by means of a draft of air, for example, whereby the temperature profile can be adjusted along the mandrel .
In general, however, the mandrel k will initially protrude excessively long from the shape c and then gradually shortened until the pressing takes place correctly. This type of setting of the counterpressure by: shortening the: core is much easier than trying to set the required counterpressure by changing the temperature profile along the shape or by setting the narrowing of the outlet cross section, as in the known extrusion processes.
In addition, it is by no means necessary for the mandrel k to protrude from the exit end of the mold c; the mandrel k can also end within the shape c. Artificial cooling of the pressed part nz protruding from the shape c is not necessary, because the material pipe emits gases during the pressing itself due to the chemical conversion under the action of the heat and this leads to shrinkage.
The shrink-fitting of the compact onto the mandrel occurs already within the press mold. The process during this extrusion will be roughly as follows: The molding compound is initially plastic and fills the entire interior of the press cylinder between the mandrel and the jacket due to the pressure of the press ram and due to the counterpressure of the finished pipe section on the mandrel the pipe and the mandrel as well as between the pipe and the cylinder wall. When the molding compound widespread, it gradually hardens and shrinks somewhat. As a result, the friction between the jacket and the hardening tube will gradually decrease, whereas the friction between the hardening tube and the mandrel will increase.
If the pressed pipe is cooled, which can be accelerated artificially if necessary, the friction between the jacket and the hardened, somewhat cooled pipe finally stops, while the friction on the mandrel reaches its maximum level. How the course of friction will be established in detail depends on the given conditions, it is only essential that the counterpressure required for pressing is more and more achieved by the friction between the mandrel and the pressed pipe.
The described method examples mean in several respects a substantial simplification. In none of the implementation examples is a precise regulation of the temperature profile between the entry and exit end of the press mold important; in contrast to known extrusion processes, the mold c is heated evenly over its entire length, so that apart from a simplification in the structure of the press the operation is a much easier one.
As a result of the elimination of any conical constriction or, as suggested in their place, additional clamping jaws, the required profile can be worked through smoothly over the entire length of the mold, which facilitates the production of the mold.
The drive of the upper pusher g, be it by hydraulic, electrical or other means, can be controlled manually or automatically. The introduction of new mass into the filling space e can also be done either by land or by mechanical means. In the latter case, you can couple the feeder with the drive for the upper handle on a clocked basis. The mass to be processed can be introduced as a loose powder, in the form of linen soaked with synthetic resin, or paper wool, but just as well in the form of pre-presses, tablets and the like. For example, it is very useful to introduce pre-pressed rings into the filling space e, which are slotted at one point for the purpose of being laid around the mandrel 7G.
Any kind of pure synthetic resin or synthetic resin-containing compound can be used for processing. In the first place, because it can be used to produce the highest quality pressed pieces, the curable synthetic resins or such synthetic resins as binding agents are suitable.
These include the synthetic resins of the phenoplast series and also the aminoplast series, which are known to be produced by the ondensation of phenol or cresol or urea or thiourea or urea and thiourea or dicyandiamide with an aldehyde, especially formaldehyde Compounds of organic or inorganic form can serve as fillers.
But not only curable synthetic resins, but also the so-called thermoplastic synthetic resin compounds have already been processed into tubular fittings; these masses can also be used. One of the many examples of thermoplastic synthetic resin compositions are those made of "polyvinyl chloride".
Tests have shown that according to the described process examples, pipe strings of any cross-section and any length can be produced without difficulty, which meet all requirements in mechanical, electrical and also chemical terms. It should also be mentioned that the method can of course also be used when the issue is not pipes with just one, but with several channels. In the latter case, a mandrel of a corresponding design, so to speak a multiple mandrel, would have to be arranged.
