Process for filtering air entering a barrel and device for filtering air. In order to protect sweet cider and similar drinks from attack by germs when a keg is gradually being emptied, it is necessary that the air entering the keg itself is free of germs as the keg is emptied. The present invention is used for this purpose.
It relates to a method for filtering the air flowing into a barrel according to its emptying, characterized in that the air, before it enters the barrel, flows through cotton wool enclosed in a container, the container with the cotton wool contained therein was previously sterilized and an apparatus for performing this process.
The accompanying drawing shows an exemplary embodiment of the air filter according to the invention, specifically FIG. 1 shows a longitudinal section along the line A-A in FIG. 2 and FIG. 2 shows a view from above.
The filter has a cylinder 1, the cavity of which is stuffed with cotton wool 2. The bottom 3 of the cylinder serving as a container for the wadding has outside ko niche shape and consists of one piece with this. With this outer conical shape, a long construction of the floor is enough without making it more cumbersome than necessary. The long design has proven to be expedient for a tight assembly of the filter container with the pipe serving as a discharge element for the purified air into the interior of the barrel.
The bottom 3 has an axial bore 4, which is provided in the middle with a thread 5, which is followed downwardly by another smooth path 6, the diameter of which is so large that the screw 7 to be inserted in the thread 5 with as much as possible with little play. This screw 7 is cut on the end of a tube 8 which carries a collar 9, whereby when the tube 8 is screwed into the screw thread 5, the collar 9 rests with its upper surface 10 on the lower surface of the conical bottom and thus forms a seal . If necessary, a ring, e.g. B. made of rubber or fiber, placed between the bottom of the filter body and the federal government for you device.
Below the collar 9, the tube has 8 holes 11 which lead from the inside of the tube into the inside of the barrel when the device is inserted. The distance between these holes 11 from the collar 9 is slightly greater than the thickness of a barrel bung, so that when piercing the bung with the pipe, point until the bunch .auf the bung sits on the holes 11 in the barrel interior. The tube has a massive tip 12 below the holes 11.
At the upper end of the cylinder 1, a closure cap 13 is provided which has flaps 14 on both sides which, with corresponding claws 15 on the upper edge of the cylinder, form a bayonet lock.
Instead of a bayonet lock, a screw lock can also be used, for example. 16 is a handle for actuating the closure cap and 17 are holes through which the air from the outside into the filter and from there into the barrel is introduced.
For use, the cylinder 1 stuffed full of wadding 2 and closed by the closure cap 13 is exposed to a temperature of at least 150 ° C. until this temperature has also become stationary in its interior. After sufficient cooling, the tip 12 located at the lower end of the tube 8 is pushed through the upper bung of the barrel to be emptied until the lower surface of the collar 9 rests on the bung and thus the holes 11 in the pipe 8 are located under its underside and so flow out into the barrel space.
This creates an air connection between the outside air through the holes 17 in the closure cap 13, the filter space filled with cotton wool 2 inside the cylinder 1, the hole 6 in the bottom 3, the tube 8 and the holes 11 with the barrel manufactured inside. After the barrel has been emptied, air enters the barrel through the filter, this air being purified as it flows through the wadding 2.
The construction material for the cylinder with the bottom and the cap to be placed on top is aluminum, an aluminum alloy or another metal that cannot be chemically attacked. The tube 8 with the tip, however, is advantageously made of stainless steel so that the bung can be pierced without running the risk of breaking this organ.
Practice has shown that good results can be achieved with a length of the cylinder 1, that is to say the cotton pack of 18 cm.
