Parasol.
Fig. 3 correspond à la fig.
Fig. 5 représente les bras selon fig.
Beach umbrella. The present invention relates to a pa rasol, which is characterized in that it comprises a hollow telescopic foot and removable arms serving as a support for the canvas, the foot being able to open at one of its ends and receive inside, when the telescopic elements are in the retracted position, the canvas and the aforesaid removable arms.
Fig. 1 is a vertical sectional view of the parasol in the use position.
Fig. 2 shows an elevational view of the parasol when its components are in the position they occupy for transport.
Fig. 3 corresponds to fig. 2, but represents the parasol in longitudinal section.
Fig. 4 shows two arms serving as a support for the parasol canvas.
Fig. 5 represents the arms according to FIG. 4, with the canvas mounted on them.
The parasol shown comprises a telescopic foot formed of three tubular elements 1, 2, 3 sliding one inside the other, as can easily be seen in the drawing. The outer telescopic element 1 has, at its end which constitutes the lower part of the foot, a pointed shape to allow this foot to be easily plugged into the ground.
At the upper end of the telescopic element 3, there is provided a member consisting of two parts 4, 5, interconnected by an articulation 6, the part 4 being provided with a threaded part 7, by which this member is screwed into the upper end of the inner telescopic element 3. The part 5 also ends with a threaded part 8, intended to cooperate with a cap 9.
The parasol shown further comprises two arms 10, 11, visible in FIG. 4 and each constituted by a metal blade having in its middle a hole 12 respectively 13, of diameter slightly greater than the outside diameter of the threaded part 8. These two arms are intended to be placed, one relative to the 'Another, in the position shown in FIG. 5, to form an X.
In this position, the ends of these arms are intended to cooperate with the corners 14 forming pockets of a square canvas 15, having at its center a hole coinciding with the holes 12 and 13. The canvas mounted on the two arms 10 and 11 , as shown in fig. 5, is put in place on part 5, after having removed the cap 9, by threading the holes 12, 13 and that of the fabric on the threaded part 8.
Then, the cap 9 is placed on this threaded part to immobilize the arms and the canvas. Thanks to the articulation 6, it is possible to incline the arms and the canvas relative to the foot 1, 2, 3, as is indicated for example in phantom. In the example shown, a wing screw 16 makes it possible to lock the joint in the desired angular position.
The telescopic elements 1, 2, 3 being able to rotate with respect to each other, it is therefore possible to bring the canvas of the parasol in any orientation.
Of course, in a variant, the pivot joint 6 could be replaced by a ball joint allowing the fabric to tilt in all directions relative to the foot.
The elements 2 and â each carry an elastic blade, the free end of which has the shape of a wedge 17, respectively 18, forming pawls. These pawls serve to immobilize the telescopic elements in the deployed position shown in FIG. 1. By pressing with the finger on the parts 17 and 18, they are forced to withdraw inside the element which carries them, which allows to bring the telescopic elements in the retracted position visible on figs. 2 and 3.
The parasol shown further comprises three auxiliary supports 19, of which only two are visible in the drawing. These auxiliary supports consist of rods pointed at one of their ends and being fixed at their other end, removably, on the telescopic element 1 forming the lower region of the foot of the parasol. The pointed end of these supports is intended to be planted slightly in the ground at a certain distance from the axis of the foot of the parasol, as seen in fig. 1. These auxiliary supports, like moreover the arms 10 and 11, are dimensioned to be able to be housed inside the telescopic element 3.
In a variant, these auxiliary supports 19 could be omitted; the foot would then simply be planted in the ground.
When, by unscrewing, the part 4 is removed from the end of the telescopic element 3 after having brought the telescopic elements to the retracted position indicated in FIGS. 2 and 3, one can introduce. Inside the foot, or more exactly inside the element 3, the rolled fabric, the two arms 10, 11 and the three auxiliary supports 19. The part 4 is then screwed onto element 3 and the parasol can be transported with the greatest ease, since it then has a very small footprint and all removable parts, including the canvas, are housed inside the telescopic element 1, as seen in FIGS. 2 and 3.
In a variant, the arms, such as 10 and 11, instead of being perforated in their middle and being two in number, could be perforated. one of their ends and be three or four in number, for example. It would thus arrive, at equal length of the foot in the retracted position, to be able to use a canvas of larger dimensions than. in the example shown in the drawing.
In another variant, the outer tube 1 could "be provided, at its lower end, not with a pointed part, but with a base into which could be screwed externally, removably, a pointed rod intended for to be stuck in the ground. During transport, this rod would be detached and housed inside the telescopic leg, with the other elements, as shown in fig. 3. This rod could be approximately the length of the removable arms supporting the canvas and would not use the auxiliary supports 19.
