Description

  

      Verfahren    zur Herstellung einer als Rostschutz- und Zusatzmittel für Lacke  verwendbaren     Verbindung.       Es ist bekannt, dass Phosphorsäure     bezw.     deren Salze rostschützend wirken. Ausserdem  werden Ester von     Phosphorsäuren    mit organi  schen     hydroxyltragenden    Verbindungen in  der Technik der Lacke und     Pressmassen    in  grossem Umfange als Weichmacher ver  wendet.  



  Es wurde ein Verfahren zur Herstellung  einer Verbindung durch Einwirkung von       Phosphorpentoxyd    auf einen     Akohol    gefun  den, die in der Technik als Rostschutzmittel  sowie als Zusatz zu Lacken insbesondere als  Kalthärter, zum     Beipiel    für Harnstoff- oder       Phenolf        ormaldehyd-Harzlacke    verwendbar ist.  



  Das den Gegenstand vorliegender Erfin  dung bildende Verfahren zur Herstellung  einer als Rostschutz- und Zusatzmittel zu  Lacken verwendbaren     Verbindung    ist da  durch gekennzeichnet, dass man     Phosphor-          pentoxyd    auf flüssigen     Butylalkohol    ein  wirken lässt. Man verfährt, beispielsweise  wie folgt:    Die     Verbindung        wird    durch     Einwirkung     von     Phosphorpentoxyd    auf flüssigen     Butyl-          alkohol    zweckmässig in der     gälte    hergestellt.

    Bei höherer Temperatur entstehen leicht Ver  färbungen, die     vermieden    werden sollen, da  auch bei Hochvakuum das Destillieren schwie  rig ist. Nicht umgesetztes     Phosphorpentoxyd     kann     abfiltriert    werden, worauf die Verbin  dung     gegebenenfalls    mit Wasser gewaschen  werden kann. Überschüssiges     Butanol    kann  durch     Abdestillieren        entfernt    werden.  



  Bei der Umsetzung entsteht nicht     Tri-          butylphosphat,    wie es bisher durch Einwir  kung von     Phosphoroxychlorid    auf     Alkali-          butylat    gewonnen wurde, sondern eine we  sentlich höher siedende,     wahrscheinlich    -durch  gleichzeitige Kondensation     und        Veresterung     entstandene schwachsaure     Verbindung    von  sehr geringer Flüchtigkeit.

   Diese Eigenschaft  ermöglicht ihre vorteilhafte Verwendung als  Weichmacher für Lacke, insbesondere     Nitro-          lacke,    da sie auch mit den meisten Lösungs-           mitteln    mischbar ist. Bei der Verwendung  für kalthärtende Harzlacke ist es besonders  günstig, dass ausser der härtenden auch noch  eine weichmachende Wirkung     in    Erschei  nung     tritt.    Gleichzeitig wird auch ein Rost  schutz erzielt,. der auch     eintritt,    wenn die       Verbindung    allein auf Eisen aufgetragen  wird.

   Nötigenfalls kann sie ausser mit organi  schen     Lösungsmitteln    auch mit Hilfe wäss  riger,     alkalisch        reagierender    Lösungen wie  der entfernt werden.

  A method for producing a compound by the action of phosphorus pentoxide on an alcohol was found, which can be used in technology as a rust inhibitor and as an additive to paints, in particular as a cold hardener, for example for urea or phenol ormaldehyde resin paints.



  The subject of the present invention forming process for the production of a compound which can be used as a rust protection agent and additive to paints is characterized in that phosphorus pentoxide is allowed to act on liquid butyl alcohol. The procedure is, for example, as follows: The connection is expediently produced in the cold by the action of phosphorus pentoxide on liquid butyl alcohol.

    At higher temperatures, discolorations easily develop, which should be avoided, since distillation is difficult even in a high vacuum. Unreacted phosphorus pentoxide can be filtered off, whereupon the compound can optionally be washed with water. Excess butanol can be removed by distilling off.



  The reaction does not produce tributyl phosphate, as has been obtained so far by the action of phosphorus oxychloride on alkali butylate, but a much higher-boiling, probably weakly acidic compound of very low volatility produced by simultaneous condensation and esterification.

   This property enables them to be used advantageously as a plasticizer for paints, in particular nitro paints, since they can also be mixed with most solvents. When used for cold-curing resin lacquers, it is particularly favorable that, in addition to the hardening one, there is also a softening effect. At the same time, rust protection is also achieved. which also occurs when the compound is applied to iron alone.

   If necessary, in addition to organic solvents, it can also be removed with the aid of aqueous, alkaline solutions.

Das entstandene neue Produkt siedet we sentlich höher als das bekannte Tributylphos- phat, ist schwach sauer und von sehr gerin ger Flüchtigkeit. Es ist als Weichmacher für Lacke und als Kalthärter für Harzlacke ver wendbar. Als Rostschutzmittel auf Eisen auf getragen, kann es mittels organischer Lö sungsmittel oder wässriger Lösungen alka lisch reagierender Stoffe wieder abgewaschen werden.
