Schachttrockner.
Shaft dryer. There are shaft dryers for granular material, especially grain, known in which the material to be dried has a pre-heating zone, the actual drying zone located below the pre-heating zone and a cooling zone located below the latter. The drying takes place with warm air.
In order to utilize the amount of heat expended for drying as well as possible, heat exchange elements are provided in the preheating zone of the shaft dryer according to the present invention, which are open at the bottom to absorb the moist air coming from the drying zone and thus preheat the granular material.
The heat exchange elements are expediently designed as prismatic bodies and are arranged in the rectangular shaft in such a way that the shaft cross-section is divided up in the preheating zone, with channels for the flow of material being formed between the heat exchange elements.
In order to increase the heat exchange, ribs can also be provided on the walls of the heat exchange elements delimiting these channels, which further share the channels for the passage of material.
One. Exemplary embodiment of the subject of the invention is shown schematically in the accompanying drawing.
Figure 1 is a vertical section through the dryer; Fig. 2 is a horizontal section taken along line II-II in Fig. 1; Fig. 3 is a vertical section along line III-I1I in Fig. 1, and Fig. 4 shows a detail on a larger scale.
With 1 the housing of the dryer is characterized be, which has three zones, at the top the preheating zone a, below the actual drying zone b and below the cooling zone c. In the drying zone b downwardly open channels 2 and a are seen before which hot air in the direction of arrows 4 and 5 is supplied. The cooling clay c has two channels 6 open at the bottom, through which cold air is supplied to the dried granular material, and the air, which is heated when the material is cooled, is removed through the channels 7 open at the bottom in the direction of arrow 8.
In the preheating zone a a number of heat exchange elements 9 are arranged parallel to one another and extend over the entire width of the dryer housing 1, so that the housing shaft is divided into individual channels 11 delimited by the M ends 10 of the elements 9. The walls 10 are also provided with vertical ribs 13, which contribute to the heat transfer and further subdivide the channels 11.
The elements 9 are open at the bottom at 18 and the '\ N'andungsteile 14 delimiting the opening 13 form parts of the wall constrictions of channels 1: ") in which the condensation water is collected from the walls 10. The condensation water drains Not shown is the channels 15. On their sides, the elements 9 are partially open at 16, and the open side parts open into common channels 17 which are connected at 18 to the suction side of a fan 19.
The '# Virl #: ure of the shaft dryer described above is as follows: The granular material to be dried enters the channels 11 from above and slowly sinks downwards into them. In the drying zone i) the material is transported through the channels? and 3 incoming hot air is heated.
The dry air, saturated with moisture: rises and is sucked through the openings 13 into the heat exchange elements 9 by means of the fan 19. It gives off heat to the walls 10 and by means of the latter and the ribs 1 \? in the channels 11 slowly moving downwards be moving good to preheat the latter.
By connecting the arrows 4 and 5 as lines to the ends of the fan 19 to the pressure side of the fan 19, a circulation of the drying air can be achieved, the latter being heated up again before it enters the channels 2 or 3, for example by an electrical resistance.
The heated air removed through the channels 7 of the cooling zone can, as indicated by arrows, be directed into a space above the preheating zone a and used to warm up the (liites) before it is fed to the channels 11.
The above-described chute dryer is characterized by very good utilization of the heat, ins.
The shaft dryer could also be operated as a vacuum dryer, so that there is a vacuum in the drying zone b and in the preheating zone a.
