Device intended to be built into a panel. It is known that the fixing of an appliance embedded in a panel, such as an electrical appliance, is always an operation requiring a relatively long time. In addition, it is always difficult to fix the device by means of fasteners which are not visible on the front face of the table. Now, there is a real advantage, from a cost price point of view, in avoiding making the fasteners visible, so as to avoid the need to provide a careful finish of their visible parts.
In addition, it is also desirable, in order to reduce the installation time of the device, that the fasteners allow the clamping of the device in its housing by resting on the edges of the latter, which avoids the need to make holes in the panel for the passage of the clamping or fixing members.
The known fixing devices which meet these various requirements generally comprise a bracket which is fixed to the rear wall of the device and whose branches rest on the rear face of the panel, with a view to applying an edge of the appliance on the front face of the panel.
However, these devices have serious drawbacks.
In fact, in the case of devices with rear sockets passing through the rear wall of the appliance, it is generally not possible to provide such a fixing, given the little space available and the isolation distances to respect.
The present invention relates to an apparatus intended to be embedded in a panel, which eliminates the drawbacks cited by the fact that it comprises at least two threaded rods housed in grooves made in its side walls and pivoted by their ends, each rod thread carrying a nut whose cross section is elongated, so that in the tightening position a part of the nut emerges from the groove and allows the panel to be clamped between a flange that the apparatus presents and said part of the 'nut,
and by the fact that a housing made in the side walls of the apparatus and intended to receive the nut is arranged so as to allow, when the nut is in the loosened position, to bring it back completely û inside the volume circumscribed by the side walls of the device.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example and schematically, one embodiment of an apparatus according to the invention.
The fi-. 1 is a view with parts cut away of a base for a calibrated fuse, mounted in a recessed position in a panel.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of the apparatus with parts broken away.
The fi-. 3 is a partial front view of the device.
The side walls 1 of the apparatus shown in the drawing delimit a cylindrical body with a circular cross section. The device comprises a rim 2 having a flat surface intended to be applied to the front face of a panel 3, pierced with a hole 4 for its fitting. The hole 4 is of a diameter slightly larger than that of the cylinder formed by the side walls 1 of the apparatus. The surface of the rim 2 has the shape of a crown and is tinée to. rest on the edges of said hole 4, as shown in. fig. 1. In order to keep the device in position on the panel, a clamping device is provided.
According to the embodiment shown in the drawing, this device consists of a nut 5 mounted on a screw fi lodged in a groove 7 made in the side walls 1 of the device along a generator line and on only part of their height. This nut has an elongated cross section, (the way to emerge from the groove 7 and that part of one of its front faces can come into contact with the rear face of the panel 3 (see fig. L.). .
The screw is pivoted by its ends $ and @) in holes 10 and 17 made in the material forming the body of the device. The axial position of this screw is defined, on the one hand, by a shoulder 13 and, on the other hand, by an elastic split washer 12 housed in a groove (not shown) that the screw presents. One of the ends of the screw 6 is provided with a diametral slot 14, tinée to allow its control by means of a maneuvering member.
With a view to>, allow the installation of the device on the panel, and therefore. de allows the passage of the tightening nuts through the hole 4 made in the panel, this nut is eclipsable, that is to say that it can be driven entirely inside the volume circumscribed by the walls sides of the device.
For this purpose, a housing 15 for the nut is made in the body of the device which opens into the groove 7 at its end opposite to the bearing surface of the flange ?.
The operation of this device is very simple. When it is desired to mount the appliance on a panel, it suffices to make a single circular section hole in the panel. Then, before inserting the device through the opening made, the two nuts 5 are brought into their housing 15 in the eclipsed position (position shown in FIG. 2 and in FIG. 3 for the right nut).
With the device in the recessed position on the panel, the screws 6 are turned in the opposite direction. The nut driven in rotation by friction exits its housing 15, abuts against the opposite wall of the groove and moves along the screw. It is obvious that the housing 15 must be oriented relative to the groove 7 in the direction of the pitch of the screw. Thus, if the step of eelle-ei is; to the right. the housing feels arranged so that a rotation of the. clockwise screw allows the nut to enter the housing (case of fig. 2).
The clamping device described can be provided on any type of device to be embedded in a panel or a wall. The side walls of the apparatus can form a volume having any cross section. However, it is preferable that this section is circular, in order to facilitate the drilling of the panel.
The apparatus may include a body made of a material such as porcelain. as in the case shown in the drawing, molded material or other material, but it can also include a body consisting of a casing with thin walls or by a metal casing, for example.
The length of the groove 7 must be provided for a length greater than the thickness of the panel, on which the device must be fixed, added to the height of the nut 5. One could also provide more than two clamping nuts, each mounted on a screw housed in a groove.
