Colander that can be used in downpipes of gutters. In order to prevent leaves and rubbish from getting out of the gutters on the way over the downpipes into the underground drainage pipes, where they can accumulate and lead to blockages, basket-like protective sieves are inserted into the inlet openings of the downpipes. However, these have the disadvantage that the dirt that collects on the protective screen leads to water stagnation when it rains, which very often leads to overflowing of the gutters and in any case prevents the complete drainage of water through the downpipes.
The resulting damage to the structure can only be avoided by frequent cleaning of the gutters, which is inconvenient, however, since the protective screens are usually in places that are difficult to access. To make cleaning easier, a strainer has already been designed which can be inserted into a piece of pipe connected to the drainage line.
The connection with the downpipe takes place by means of a tubular sliding piece. This arrangement has the advantage that the colander is easily accessible and can therefore also be cleaned easily, but it has the disadvantage that the dirt collects in the colander, and especially when it comes to leaves, the risk of clogging and the water backflow in the case pipe is not eliminated.
The subject of the present invention is a strainer that can be used in downpipes of gutters with passage openings in the jacket and in the floor, by means of which the risk of clogging and water stagnation can be reduced. This is done according to the invention by the fact that in the hollow space Sieher's guide vanes are arranged, which are inclined to the axis of the sieve in order to cause incident water to execute a rotational movement within the sieve, and that these guide vanes have a gante acting as a cutting edge for the purpose of crushing debris carried along by the water,
to enable it to pass into the drain.
