Description

Process for the production of molded parts.

The present invention relates to the production of fittings, such as. B. artificial dentures made of plastic materials, using plaster molds.

In such processes it is advantageous and often necessary to coat the inner surface of the plaster of paris mold with a substance which fills the pores of the plaster of paris and makes it impermeable to the material to be molded, giving the molding a smooth surface and possible chemical effects between the plastic Material and the plaster of paris of the form are prevented.

The purpose of the present invention is to improve such molding processes by avoiding the known disadvantages of the various coating or insulating materials proposed and used so far, which is done in such a way that the plaster of paris mold is filled with the aqueous solution of a water-soluble alginate is pulled over.

The practical implementation of the invention takes place, for example, in the production of artificial dentures from a plastic material such as methyl methacrylate, expediently as follows: A plaster of paris form is produced in any known and suitable manner, the modeling surface of which is made with the aqueous solution before the molding process a water-soluble alginate such as sodium or potassium alginate is coated. The coating can be done by brushing, spraying, etc. It was found that the solution forms a coating containing calcium alginate on the plaster of paris, which is formed by the reaction between the water-soluble alginate and the calcium sulfate of the plaster of paris.

It has been shown that such a film has all the desired properties in that it prevents the plaster of paris from sticking to the denture and makes it easier to remove the latter from the mold. The resulting smoother surface of the denture material also reduces the time required to finish it. Besides, it's not. t necessary to heat the plaster mold during the deformation process, as was the case with the substances proposed so far.

The concentration of the solution to be used depends to a certain extent on the viscosity of the water-soluble alginate.

When using the commercially available sodium alginate, concentrations of 2-5% give satisfactory results.

In order to prevent the calcium alginate film from becoming too dry in the air and thus jumping off the plaster of paris, up to 20% glycerine or another water-soluble, non-volatile, hygroscopic substance that is compatible with the alginate can be added to the solution.

Three examples of suitable solutions are given below: 1. Sodium alginate, low viscosity, 3g
Water 100 cm3 2. Potassium alginate 2 g
Water 100 cm3
Glycerin 3. Potassium alginate (high viscosity) 2g
Water 100 cm3
Alkylene 15 cm3
The solutions are also suitable for application to plaster negatives from which plaster positives are to be produced, e.g. B. when casting a plaster model of the mouth from a plaster cast, since the calcium alginate film allows easy separation of the plaster surfaces.
