Schmelze, durch Aufstreichen, Aufspritzen us:w.
Heat exchangers and heat exchangers for its manufacture. The present invention relates to a heat exchanger made of metal with directly and indirectly acting cooling surfaces produced separately from one another, for example of the rib type, in which the directly acting cooling surfaces are formed by g "ühlrabxe and the indirectly acting cooling surfaces are formed by ribbed plates placed on these tubes .
So far, the directly and indirectly acting cooling surfaces of such heat exchangers have been made by welding. or soldering connected, which results in a sufficiently high strength and sufficiently good heat transfer at the butt joint. For heat exchangers made of metals that can be welded or soldered without difficulty, such as
B. from iron, steel and alloys .da from, furthermore from certain non-ferrous metals such as copper and brass, the production consequently offers no other difficulties than those associated with welding or soldering; but those metals which can only be welded or soldered with difficulty or not at all, e.g. B.
Light metals such as aluminum and its alloys could previously not be used or only to a limited extent for the production of heat exchanges, such as coolers and others to ensure good heat conduction, for which purpose they otherwise claim low specific weight, high specific heat and relatively; good corrosion resistance are particularly suitable.
The invention aims to simplify and reduce the cost of making heat exchangers, be they made of weldable or solderable metals or of those that are difficult or impossible to weld or solder.
The heat exchanger according to the invention is characterized in that @, the direct bar and the indirectly acting cooling surfaces at the joint by resin, advantageously synthetic resin, are connected to one another. It has surprisingly been found that such a connection results not only in sufficient strength, but also in sufficiently good heat transfer between the cooling surfaces. To increase the heat transfer, the resin can be mixed with metal powder.
In some cases, resistance to corrosion is also required for heat exchangers; In order to achieve this: the heat exchanger can be provided with a coating of an anti-corrosion agent. In certain cases the resin itself can be used as such an agent by choosing a resin with anti-corrosive properties. Such a Wärmeaus exchanger thus not only instructs: the joints, but also at other points on the upper surface of the cooling surfaces resin, whereby the inner surface of cooling tubes can of course also be coated with resin.
The invention also encompasses a method for producing such a heat exchanger and consists in applying a resin, advantageously a synthetic resin, which is expediently mixed with metal powder, in the joint between: the directly and indirectly acting cooling surfaces. If the resin is to serve as a corrosion protection agent at the same time, it is applied not only to the joint but also to the areas of the heat exchanger exposed to corrosion.
In order to bring about good contact between the cooling tubes forming the cooling surfaces and Rip penblechen, the interior of the cooling tubes can be pressurized so that an expansion of the cooling tubes he is enough and the distance between them and the ribbed plates is reduced. This measure is particularly recommended if no metal powder is added to the resin. Such an expansion of the cooling tubes can, for. B.
can also be achieved by thinning, which is carried out before, during or after the application of the resin, but most expediently only during a subsequent heat treatment.
Before the resin is applied, the cooling surfaces can be subjected to a surface treatment in order to achieve increased adhesion of the resin and possibly to increase the corrosion resistance. This surface treatment can e.g. B. consist of a pickling with a liquid, whereby the surface is roughened.
The choice of this pickling liquid depends, among other things, on the nature of the metal from which the heat exchanger consists. The surface treatment can also consist of an oxidation, which gives the surfaces an extremely thin layer of oxide, which increases the corrosion resistance and, if necessary, also facilitates the adhesion of the resin.
In heat exchangers made of iron, steel or alloys thereof, the oxidation can consist of phosphating. When using light metal such as aluminum, the surfaces can be subjected to a treatment using the anodising process.
The nature of the resin can vary depending on the nature. iMetalles of the heat exchanger, the strength it should have at the joint, the desired corrosion protection, etc.
Examples include natural resins of various types, synthetic resins obtained by polymerisation, such as vinyl resins, synthetic resins obtained by condensation, such as fenol resins, alkyd resins, and mixtures of these with one another and with additives. The resin can be applied to the abutment surfaces and, if necessary, to other locations on the surface of the heat exchanger in solid form, e.g.
B. in the form of a thermoplastic, curable synthetic resin in a finely divided state, which may be mixed with metal powder. is upset. be, with joining and clinging with. Help is brought about by heat and pressure. This process can be used in particular when the resin is only to be used at .den butt joints and no additional corrosion protection is required or. where the anti-corrosive agent is different from the resin itself.
In other cases it may be advantageous to apply the resin in the molten state or in the form of a solution. This method can be used in particular when the resin is to serve as a corrosion protection agent at the same time. The application can be done in any way: B. by immersing the heat exchanger in the solution respectively. Melt, by brushing on, spraying on, etc .: w. When using a solution, the solvent z.
B. removed by exposing the heat exchanger to a heat treatment. The temperature and the duration of this treatment are adapted to the nature of the resin.
If metal powder is added to the resin, the powder can be of a different type than the metal of the heat exchanger, that is to say e.g. B. the cooling tubes and the ribbed plates; but it is expedient to choose the same metal for the powder as for the heat exchanger.
The following is the example of the production of an aluminum cooler for internal combustion engines, especially for aircraft, where. the low weight of the cooler is of particular importance. In the accompanying drawing, FIG. 1 shows a longitudinal section of part of the cooler and FIG. 2 shows a section. .by a connection point between a cooling tube and a ribbed plate.
A bundle forming thin-walled aluminum tubes 10 are inserted through: corresponding holes of a plurality of flanged 12 aluminum sheets 11, which all or at least several of the tubes 10 are common.
Here, the cooling tubes 10:, the directly acting cooling surfaces and the ribbed plates 11 form the indirectly acting cooling surfaces. When sticking together, even if only a narrow joint remains between the outer surface of the cooling tubes 10 and the flanged edge 12 of the ribbed plates 11. The ends of the tubes 10 are. then, in corresponding Lö = rather in end plates 1d made of aluminum and stuck to these z.
B. by aluminum brazing solder, in particular percussion solder, attached to achieve the required strength. The block consisting of cooling tubes, ribbed sheets and end sheets can. preheated in whole or in part before soldering to prevent subsequent warpage of the block. The cooler block is then immersed in a chromic acid bath, which results in roughening, which can be associated with oxidation of the surfaces, and at the same time also results in cleaning of the soldering joints on the end plates.
The cooler block is lifted up and, after the pickling liquid has drained off, immersed in a bath consisting of a fenol resin solution with aluminum powder suspended in it. After the excess resin solution has been lifted up and drained off, the cooler block is introduced into a suitable oven, where it is heated to about 180 ° C. for about two hours.
During this heat treatment, the cooling tubes are flared, so that the joint between the cooling tubes and the flanged edges of the ribbed plates is narrowed, leaving space for only a very thin resin layer 14.
As a result of the heat treatment, the solvent evaporates, and the resin is hardened and burnt on the surfaces where. it has been applied. Inlet and outlet chambers for the cooling water (not shown) are then attached to the end plates 1a.
As a result of this treatment, the joint between the cooling tubes 11 and the flange edges 12 is filled with a layer 14 made of resin and aluminum powder (see Fig. 2, drawn to an exaggerated scale), which creates a metallic connection and ensures a good heat transfer. Furthermore, a coherent and well-adhering resin layer 15 with aluminum powder is formed on the outer surfaces of the tubes 10 and the ribbed plates 11 to protect against corrosive attack by air and moisture.
If the cooler aws is made of a slightly horrifying metal, such as B. iron or steel, so you can with the surface treatment and especially when immersing in the synthetic resin solution: proceed in such a way that the pickling liquid hezw. the resin solution is also offered access to the inner surface of the cooling tubes 10.
As a result, a resin layer 16 is also obtained on the inner surface of the cooling tubes 10 for protection against the corrosive effects of the cooling water. In other cases, for example where the tubes and sheets are made of light metal, such as aluminum, this is unnecessary and often even harmful. The chromic acid treatment leads to sufficient protection against corrosion.
In addition to producing coolers, the process can also be used to produce other heat exchangers, such as finned tubes, condensers, cylinders for internal combustion engines, etc.
