enthaltende Verbindung zusetzt.
B. Essigsäureanhydrid) in Ge genwart geeigneter Katalysatoren.
<I>Beispiel 8:</I> Man verknetet 20 Teile Rhovinal F 7 Teile 1,2,5-Pentantrioltriacetat 3 Teile Celludol (Tolüolsulfamid) 2 Teile Russ 68 Teile Lösungsmittel.
<I>Beispiel 10:
<I>Beispiel 13:</I> 10 Teile Polyvinylchlorid vom llolekular- gewicht 150 000 (nach Staudinger) @verden in 90 Teilen Cyclopentanon gelöst.
<I>Beispiel<B>17:</B></I> Man setzt 50 Teilen einer alkoholischen 50%igen Kolophoniumlösung 6 Teile 1,2,5- Pentantrioltriacetat zu.
Process for softening natural resins and synthetic organic plastics. The present invention relates to a process for plasticizing natural resins and synthetic organic plastics. It is characterized by the fact that one of the basic materials mentioned is one of the rest

containing compound adds. Such compounds are 1,2,5-pentanetriol and the products of its total or partial esterification.
This is because it has been found that the 7th, 2,5-pentanetriol and the products of its total or partial esterification are excellent plasticizers for the base materials mentioned, due to their remarkable compatibility, for example with the majority of natural resins and synthetic organic plastics.
1,2,5-Pentanetriol can be obtained in a simple manner by hydrolytic cleavage of tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol, which is formed by hydrogenation of furfural, an abundant and easily accessible raw material, or by saponifying a pentanetriol ester. Any other process used for the production of polyalcohols also leads to the goal.
The total esters of 1,2,5-pentanetriol are obtainable by esterification of the triol by known processes, be it by treating tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol or one of its esters by boiling with an anhydride (e.g. acetic anhydride) in the presence of suitable catalysts.
The partial esters of 1,2,5-pentanetriol can be obtained by partial esterification of the triol or by partial saponification of a triester by known processes. In general, the incorporation of 1,2,5-pentanetriol or its esters in natural resins and synthetic organic plastics improves their plastic properties and their flexibility.
For the organic substances mentioned, it is easy to determine the suitable compound and its appropriate amount for achieving the desired properties from the series of plasticizers recommended according to the present invention.
The polyalcohol itself gives substances such as regenerated cellulose, cellulose ethers, polyvinyl alcohol, C # ummiarabikum. Gelatin, increased suppleness. The esters can be used with advantage as plasticizers for the various plastic compounds, synthetic resins, condensation products, polymerization products, natural resins.
This list does not imply any limitation, because the ability to absorb 1,2,5-pentanetriol or the products of its total or partial esterification is not a specific property of one or the other group of organic natural and synthetic materials. On the other hand, looking for special effects, such as resistance to cold instead of achieving optimum plasticity, can lead to various solutions to the question of choosing one of the proposed improvers. In addition, however, the method according to the invention also leaves flexibility and transparency.
Improve water resistance, elasticity and the appearance of organic natural and artificial compounds.
Furthermore, these plasticizers can be incorporated into the natural and plastics mentioned on their own or together with other known plasticizers. The following examples give an overview of the many possible uses of the invention. The amounts given relate to the amount by weight. Example <I> 1 </I> 200 parts of polyvinyl alcohol of high viscosity are dissolved in 800 parts of water with stirring.
60 parts of 1,2,5-pentanetriol are added to the solution and the mixture is then allowed to flow onto a glass plate. The film obtained after drying is characterized by astonishing transparency. Its physical properties, especially its elasticity, are far superior to the films produced with the addition of the known plasticizers. Example <I> 2: </I> 60 parts of methyl cellulose (content of OCH:,: 15%) are dissolved in 940 parts of water. plan adds 18 parts <B> 1.22,5- </B> <B> ', </B> to the solution and lets this solution flow onto a glass plate.
The film obtained is. Completely transparent and of good elasticity, superior to the non-plasticized or otherwise plasticized films in the two properties mentioned. It is also characterized by excellent breaking strength.
If you dilute the above solution with eight times the volume of water, you can use it to finish a tulle fabric and thus obtain a finish of noticeable suppleness and good appearance. Such a finish is superior to conventional finishes.
Example 3: 300 parts of a superpolyamide obtained by joint polymerization of 60 parts of adipic llexaxethylene diamine and 40 parts of aminocaproic acid are dissolved hot in 80% aqueous alcohol. For this purpose, 75 parts of 1,2,5-pentanetriol are added and the solution is poured hot onto a surface heated to 70, which is then placed in a chamber heated to 80.
When drying, a transparent film is obtained that is far superior to non-plasticized films in terms of its flexibility.
The solution can be mixed with dyes and fillers (carbon black, zapon dyes, titanium oxide, etc.) and then applied to a previously flattened tissue with a rubber machine or with a strip device or any other known device. So you can get a coated fabric in the manner of Moleskin, which is considerably more resistant to wear and tear from use than similar products with linseed oil or cellulose derivative coatings.
<I> Example 4: </I> A thin film of regenerated cellulose derived from viscose is passed through a 50% solution of pentanetriol. After draining and drying, the film containing 20% pentanetriol is very pliable, very resistant and transparent. <I> Example 5 </I> 100 parts of a 20% alcoholic solution of Rhodopas HH (highly viscous polyvinyl acetate) are mixed with 6 parts of 1,2,5-pentanetriol.
By letting this solution flow out onto a polished surface, a smooth, high-gloss and transparent film is obtained, in which one can notice a considerable reduction in the sensitivity to cold compared to similar products that have not been plasticized or have been plasticized with other known means. <I> Example 6: </I> 250 parts of Rhodopas HH (highly viscous polyvinyl acetate) are dissolved at 95 in a mixture of 600 parts of denatured spirit and 150 parts of ethyl lactate and 50 parts of 1,2,5-pentanetriol triacetate are added.
The lacquer obtained in this way can be applied to any polished surface, leaving a transparent, smooth and shiny coating of very high suppleness. Soluble dyes, pigments and resins can be added. Example 7: 20 parts of Rhovinal F (polyvinylformaldehyde acetate) 10 parts of 1,2,5-pentanetrioltriaceta.t 70 parts of 80% alcohol are kneaded and rolled in the heat to remove the solvent to evaporate.
The plasticized acetal obtained in this way can be processed into plastic, transparent and flexible foils using the methods known in cellular technology, which keep their flexibility even at the lowest temperatures.
If in this example the triacetate is replaced by the tripropionate of 1,2,5-pentanetriol, the same results are obtained. Example 8: 20 parts of Rhovinal F 7 parts of 1,2,5-pentanetriol triacetate 3 parts of celludol (toluenesulfamide) 2 parts of carbon black 68 parts of solvent are kneaded. The mass obtained after rolling can be transformed into tubes, tubes, profiles, etc. by spinning at 130.
It can also be used for covering forks or for manufacturing. used by injection molded articles. <I> Example<B>9.-</B> </I> <B> 100 </B> parts of cellulose acetate with a Ge content of about 54% acetic acid are kneaded with 500 parts of acetone, the 35 parts of 1.2 , 5-pentanetriol triacetate, which produces a clear, transparent liquid which, after evaporation, leaves behind a uniformly transparent and smooth film. <I> Example 10:
</I> 50 parts of aeeton-soluble cellulose acetate are kneaded with 15 parts of 1,2,5-Pentanetriöltriacetat and 40 parts of a mixture of equal amounts by weight of ethyl alcohol and benzene. When the paste has become homogeneous, it can be subjected to the processes known in the manufacture of plastic masses, such as rolling, heating under pressure and cutting. Man. receives transparent foils, the color of which does not change in the light.
<I> Example 11: </I> 20 parts of cellulose triacetate earth dissolved in 70 parts of methyl chloride, which contains 10% alcohol, and 10 parts of 1. ') "5-pentanetriol triacetate are added while stirring. When the mixture has become homogeneous is, it is filtered and the solution is allowed to flow onto a flat surface. After evaporation, a film is obtained that is supple, water-resistant and can be folded several times without change.
<I> Example 12: </I> 15 parts of nitrocellulose are dissolved in a mixture of 20 parts of butyl acetate, 5 parts of butyl alcohol, 0 parts of ethyl acetate, 10 parts of ethyl alcohol, 25 parts of toluene and: 5 parts of 1,2,5-pentanetriol triol acetate: are added . A paint of excellent quality is obtained.
To make the paint more or less hard, you can change the mixing ratio without difficulty: the paint can also be colored. <I> Example 13: </I> 10 parts of polyvinyl chloride with a molecular weight of 150,000 (according to Staudinger) dissolved in 90 parts of cyclopentanone. 2.5 parts of 1,2,5-pentanetriol triacetate are added and this solution is allowed to evaporate in a thin layer in a ventilated chamber. The film obtained is characterized by flexibility and beautiful transparency.
Without the triacetate, rigid and easily wrinkled films are obtained. <I> Example 14: </I> 30 parts of a -Nlisehpolymeri: sates of polyvinyl chloride and -acetate are dissolved in a mixture of 60 parts of acetone and 10 parts of isophorone and 4.5 parts of 1,2,5-pentail trioldiacetate added,
which is obtained from the triacetate by partial saponification. (The diester is a colorless liquid which boils at 163-166 under 10 min pressure and is visibly water-soluble.) The result is a lacquer solution that is as it is: or, as is known, with dyes or Pigments added, can be used. It gives homogeneous and resistant films of excellent elasticity.
<I> Example 15: </I> 5 parts of technical-grade 1,2,5-pentanetriol propionate are added to <B> 100 </B> parts of a 25% strength benzene solution of highly viscous polystyrene. The resulting solution forms a varnish which, after drying, leaves a smooth coating and can be applied to flexible substrates. The lead solution, but without the propionate, gives a brittle coating.
<I> Example 16: </I> 100 parts of benzene cellulose, 10 parts of 1.?.:- Pentanetriol triacetate and 60 parts of solvent (equal volumes of benzene and alcohol) are kneaded together. Starting from the paste obtained, you can make plastic films or profiles, tubes and tubes by known technical processes, which are characterized by good flexibility and, in the case of non-colored products, excellent transparency and in these properties the plasticizers produced with other known th to meet.
<I> Example<B>17:</B> </I> 50 parts of an alcoholic 50% rosin solution are added to 6 parts of 1,2,5-pentanetriol triacetate. This solution can be spread on a paper web and the solvent evaporated by drying. A paper coated with flexible adhesive is obtained, which is much less brittle than that made without the triacetate.
Example <B><I>18:</I> </B> To 10 () g of an aqueous 20% solution of polyvinyl alcohol with a degree of saponification of 120 is added. 4 g of 1,2,5-pentautriolpropiomite are added. After drying, plan gets a non-sticky, flexible, slightly cloudy film.
