Drum dryer with openwork jacket and cross ventilation. The present invention relates to a drum dryer with durchbroche NEM jacket and cross ventilation, wherein the air heater for heating the circulating air are arranged in a longitudinal chamber. In the known drum dryers of this type, it has been customary to suck the fresh air through the good arranged at the outlet end of the drying cross-air fan and push it through a mixing chamber into the drum.
The entire amount of fresh air is fed through the dryer in a well-helical manner countercurrent to the drying process and expelled by the cross-air fan at the beginning of the drum. The strong countercurrent caused by this arrangement was particularly disadvantageous in the case of light items to be dried, such as grass, since this prevented the items to be dried from flowing evenly through the drum.
This known arrangement also had the disadvantage that air laden with dust and moisture could get from the mixing chamber into the longitudinal chamber, since the air pressure in the latter is lower than in the mixing chamber, which leads to contamination of the air heater located on the outside of the radiators Terminals and thus could lead to malfunctions. Another disadvantage was that there was no way of emptying the drum quickly and without manual labor after work.
These disadvantages are to be remedied by the drum dryer according to the present invention in that a supply line with ventilator for the fresh air supply is connected to one end of the longitudinal chamber and the longitudinal chamber has passage openings distributed along the drum to a mixing chamber, into which the air heater is also distributed mouth and which is partially limited by the drum shell,
.so that in the mixing chamber the fresh air is mixed with the heated circulating air and the air mixture is passed across the drum and fed in a helical movement to an exhaust air outlet provided at the beginning of the drum.
Because the fresh air is fed through the longitudinal chamber, there is an air pressure in the same that is greater than that in the mixing chamber, which prevents the penetration of dust and moisture-laden L mwälzluft from the mixing chamber into the longitudinal chamber, so that in the The connection terminals of the radiators of the air heater located in the longitudinal chamber are not contaminated.
Furthermore, there is the possibility of only keeping the passage openings of the longitudinal chamber open on the material inlet side, where when the exhaust air outlet is closed, the entire amount of fresh air can be passed through these openings into the mixed air chamber and from there into the drum, in order then in the axial direction against the Drum outlet to flow. In this way, the already completely dried and thus easily flyable material still in the drum can be blown completely out of the drum in a short time.
On the accompanying drawing, an embodiment of the subject invention is shown.
1 shows a cross section through a drum dryer and FIG. 2 shows a longitudinal section of the same along the line II-II of FIG. 1 on a smaller scale.
It denotes 1 the drying drum provided with a broken jacket, through which the air by means of a number of fans \? is circulated in the transverse direction, being heated in the air heaters 3 in each case. 4 is a subdivided mixing chamber which is partially limited by the drum shell. The fresh air is fed through a fan 5 and a connecting line 6 to one end of a longitudinal chamber 7 in which the closed air heater 3 are arranged.
The longitudinal chamber 7 is connected to the shower chamber 4 by means of passage openings, at which openings regulating flaps 9 are provided, which can be actuated by a rod 8 from the outside of the dryer in order to be able to change the fresh air supply into the lliscli- chamber 4. A flap 10 is inserted into the bypass of the first fan 2 and an exhaust air connection 11 is connected. in which a flap 12 is arranged.
The working principle of the drum dryer described is as follows: Each of the fans? sucks in the air from the drum 1 and blows it through one of the heating elements 3 into the mixing chamber 4. The air emerges from this. into the drum, passes through (read material to be dried, which enters drum 1 at arrow 13, leaves drum at arrow 14, and gets to the next of the fans 1.
The fresh air fan 5 blows fresh air through the connecting line 6 into the Liingskaminer 7, which distributes the fresh air over the entire length of the drum. The flaps 9 allow the fresh air to enter the chamber 4, which is divided in the longitudinal direction. Each subdivision of this chamber 21 4 corresponds to a plurality of flaps 9, so that it is in the hand to regulate the supply of fresh air at the various points in the longitudinal direction of the drum as required.
The fresh air and the circulating air mix evenly in the chamber 4 and flow through the drying drum 1 in the transverse direction. This arrangement has the advantage that there is always an excess pressure inside the chamber 7. which is greater than the overpressure in the shower chamber 4, so that it is not possible for air from the mixing chamber 4 to get into the chamber 7.
No dust and no moisture can therefore get into the longitudinal chamber 7, so that the connection terminals provided in the longitudinal chamber 7 for the radiators 3 and the bare, current-carrying cables and the like also located in the longitudinal chamber 7 are protected against dust and moisture are.
Since the fresh air is distributed in the longitudinal direction of the drum through the chamber 7, from where it is passed transversely through the drum and migrates in a seliraubenlinien-shaped movement via the fans 2 towards the beginning of the drum, that is to say against the exhaust air clip 11, is at the end of the drum Countercurrent very small, so that there can be no disturbance in the flow of dry material, although the material is relatively light here. Towards the beginning of the drum, the countercurrent is stronger in relation to the fresh air supplied, but since the material is still relatively heavy here, the flow of dry material is not impeded.
To clean the drum, the first flaps 9 on the entry side of the goods are fully opened, so that a large amount of fresh air enters the drum 1 at this end. The exhaust flap 12 on the exhaust air clip 11 is completely closed; and the circulating air fans 2 are greatly throttled. There is now a strong air flow through the drum 1 from the inlet end towards the outlet opened for this purpose. This strong current allows the drum to be blown cleanly in a very short time.
The treated dryer with the vorbesehriebenen drum goods, z. B. grass, is characterized by surprisingly good quality and color.
