EMI6.1
einen Bestandteil des Komplexes bildet;
So kommen z.B.

enthalten,
leiten sich vorzugsweise von Aminotriazinen ab. Es kommen Methylolverbindungen von Aminotriazinen oder deren Aether oder Ester in Betrachto Unter den Verbindungen seien vor allem Umsetzungsprodukte von Form- aldehyd und 2,4,6-Triamino-1,3,5-triazin, gewöhnlich Me lamin genannt, erwähnt Solche Kondeneationeprodukte können eine bis 6 Methylolgruppen enthalten; gewöhnlich etellen sie Mischungen von verschiedenen Verbindungen dar Weiterhin kommen Methylolverbindungen von solchen Abkömmlingen der Melamine in Betracht, die noch mindestens eine Aminogruppe enthalten, z.Bv Methylolverbin- dungen von Melam, Melem, Ammelin, Ammelid oder von halo- geneubstituierten Aminotriazinen, wie 2-Chlor-4,6-diamino- 1,3,5-triazin;

Process for dyeing and printing textile fiber materials with azo or azomethine dyes,
It has been found that textile fiber materials can be dyed or printed in a valuable manner if aqueous preparations are applied to the fiber materials which contain at least one acidic water-solubilizing group and at least one acid amide group having 1: 2 chromium or cobalt complexes of azo or azomethine dyes and in Water containing dissolved or dispersed aminoplasts, and the fiber material treated in this way is then subjected to curing in the presence of an acidic catalyst.
The process can be applied to a wide variety of textiles. The textile fibers know how Aoetylcel lulose, polyamide, polyurethane, polyacrylonitrile or polyester fibers, be produced in a synthetic or semi-synthetic way. The process is particularly useful in the dyeing and printing of cellulose textile fibers, preferably those made from native cellulose, such as linen and cotton.
The metal complex compounds used in the present process contain chromium or cobalt as the complex-bound metal, being a heavy metal. atom complex is bonded to two molecules of a dye, or sn is a molectile of two different dyes or to a molecule of a dye and a colorless complexing agent, the dyes can contain one or more than one azo group and / or azomethine group
The dyes must have acidic water-solubilizing groups, e.g. Carboxylic acid groups or sulfonic acid groups, If carboxylic acid groups are involved in the complex formation, they are no longer to be regarded as water-solubilizing.
In the nolectile of the complex metal compound, a single water-solubilizing group or ee can contain more than one such group, e.g. their 2 to 4, may be present. Those HO3S groups which are not bound to a carbon atom but to an oxygen atom also come into consideration as water-solubilizing groups. The water-solubilizing HO3S groups can therefore be sulfonic acid groups or residues of acidic sulfuric acid esters (sulfato groups).
Furthermore, the complex metal compounds must contain at least one acid amide group. E.g.
Carboxylic acid amide groups, but preferably sulfonic acid amide groups. The amide groups can be free of substituents on the nitrogen atom (-CONH2, -SO2NH2) or one or two identical or different substituents or derived from simple aromatic acids such as benzoic acid. In this case, the part of the dye molecule containing the azo or azomethine group is bonded to the nitrogen atom of the acid amide group, and these groups are commonly referred to as acyl amino groups.
Acid amide groups in the narrower sense are generally the already mentioned carboxylic acid and sulfonic acid amide groups which are not further substituted on the nitrogen atom and the acid amide groups which contain one or two substituents of simple composition on the nitrogen atom, e.g. a low molecular weight alkyl group or oxyalkyl group, two such groups, a hydrogen atom or such a group and a cyclohexyl, benzyl or phenyl radical, the benzene nuclei having further substituents, e.g. Oxy groups. Acid amide groups can also be considered, the amide nitrogen atom of which is a member of a heterocyclic ring #, e.g. a morpholine or piperidine ring.
Finally, there is also the possibility that the acidic water-solubilizing group, in particular the sulfato group, is located in a substituent bonded to the amide nitrogen atom, as is the case, for example, with the acid amide grouping of the formula -SO2-NH-CH2-CH2-O-SO3H Case iet,
Apart from the fact that the complex compound must contain at least one water-solubilizing group and one acid amide group, the number of these groups and their arrangement in the molecule of the complex can be quite arbitrary.
For example, one can use complexes in which two molecules of an azo dye, which contains an acidic water-solubilizing group and an acid amide group, are complexly bound to a chromium or cobalt atom. Furthermore, the metal-containing dye can also contain two different dyes, but each one each have acidic water-solubilizing groups and an acid amide group, it being possible for the acid amide groups of the two dyes to be identical or different.
Furthermore, in such a 1: 2 metal complex, one dye can only contain one or two waseerldxliahmachenie and no acid amide groups, while the other can only contain one or two acid amide groups and no water-solubilizing groups
Finally, it is also possible that the one in a 1:
2-chromium or cobalt complex, both acidic, water-solubilizing groups and acid amide groups, e.g. Bo one of the two, the other Parbetoff only acid amide groups (e.g. one or two) or only acidic, water-soluble groups (e.g. 3 one to two sulfonic acid groups , one to two carboxylic acid groups, a sulfonic acid group and a carboxylic acid group)
In addition to the metal complex-forming, the acidic water-solubilizing and the acid amide groups, other substituents, e.g. Alkyl radicals such as methyl, aromatically bound oxy groups or halogen atoms such as chlorine, alkoxy groups such as ethoxy or methoxy, or nitro groups may be present in the dyes.
The dyes develop, for example, o, o'-dioxy-azomethine groupings, o-carboxymethoxy-o'-oxy-, o-carboxy-o'-oxy-, o-carboxy-o'-amino-, o-oxy-, as complex-forming groups o'-amino or, preferably, o, o'-dioxyazo groups.
Advantageous results are achieved, for example, with chromium or cobalt 1: 2 complexes which contain in the complex at least one acidic water-solubilizing group and at least one acid amide group and in which at least 1 molecule of a dye of the formula
EMI6.1
forms part of the complex;
a) R1 denotes one in the o-position to the oxo group on the
Azo group bound by a sulfonic acid amide group (the one on the nitrogen atom in turn
May carry substituents) further substituted
Benzene radical and R2 a bonded to the azo group in the vicinity of the oxy group, e.g. naphthalene radical further substituted by at least one sulfonic acid group and optionally a further oxy group, or b) R1 and R2 each in a position adjacent to
Oxy group bonded to the azo group, or o) R1 a benzene radical bonded to the azo group adjacent to the oxy group or a naphthalene radical containing sulfonic acid groups and R2-OH the radical of a 5-pyrazolone bonded to the azo group in the 4-position.
The azo dyes required for the production of the metal complexes can also be obtained in the usual, known manner and from known diaso and azo components. For the production of such azo dyes, e.g. o-Osy- or o-carboxyamines of the benzene and naphthalene series and, as azo components, aminonaphthalenes coupling to an amino group or oxybenzenes, oxynaphthalenes, 2, 4-dioxyquinobolines, acetoacetylones and pyrazolones coupling to an oxy group (or an enolizable keto group) as azo components into consideration.
The 1: 2 complexes to be used in the present process can also be produced in a conventional manner known per se from the metal-free monoazo dyes, expediently by the methods known for the production of 1: 2 metal complexes without water-solubilizing groups. When preparing symmetrical complexes in which the metal atom is bound to two identical dye molecules, it is advisable to use the dyes in such a way and with such metal donating agents as alkali chromium salicylate.
Earomacetate. Sodium cobalt tartrate, cobalt acetate or cobalt sulfate, so that the desired complexes are obtained immediately0 Elierher also includes chromium treatment with alkali dichromate in the presence of reducing agents.
Another method is generally indicated for the preparation of asymmetric complexes. in order to obtain uniform products and not mixtures with a substantial proportion of symmetrical by-products, some of which have no water-solubilizing groups at all and are therefore undesirable.
In this case it is expedient to prepare the 1: 1 chromium complex from one of the two dyes intended to build up the asymmetrical 1: 2 complex, preferably the one which contains at least one water-solubilizing group, if this is not the case with both, and then add it with the other metal-free dye. It should also be noted that the 1: 1 complexes of o, o dioxyazo dyes can be produced not only from the o, o-dioxy dyes themselves, but also from the corresponding oOxy-o -alkoxyazo dyes For the preparation of such 1: 2 complexes intended for conversion into 1: 2 complexes:
1-complexes can accordingly also be used instead of the o-oxydiazo compounds, the corresponding o-alkoxy diazo compounds, in particular the methoxy compounds
The processing of the 1: 2-Komplese can possibly. cause certain difficulties because these compounds are very soluble in water. Complexes which cannot be salted out for this reason can be prepared by evaporation of the reaction mixture or other suitable methods, e.g.
Addition of certain water-miscible organic solvents, are isolated,
The aqueous preparations required in the present process contain, in addition to the metal complex compounds, aminoplasts which are either dispersible in water - on their own or optionally with the aid of a dispersing agent - or preferably in water, the water permeability not necessarily being unlimited, but also those aminoplasts come into consideration, which only give a uniform solution with Waseer in certain proportions
In addition, any aminoplasts can be chosen,
but especially urea resins or melamine resins.
E.g. Urea-formaldehyde resins are considered, These can be derived from methylolureas from 1 mole of urea and 2 to 4 moles of formaldehyde or the alkyl ethers of these methylol compounds with low molecular weight alcohols such as methanol or n-butanol, with only some of the methylol groups present in the molecule May be etherified. Examples include methyl ethers of methylolethyleneureas and methylolethyleneureas and their methyl ethers.
In addition, condensation compounds of formaldehyde with compounds which, like dicyandiamide or melamine, have at least one atomic grouping are suitable

contain, or, like cyanamide, easily pass into such compounds
The formaldehyde condensation products to be used for the present purpose can be derived from the most varied of compounds with the specified atom grouping, both cyclic and non-cyclic. Among the non-ht-cyclic compounds are e.g.
Dicyandiamide, dicyandiamidine, guanidine, acetoguanidine or biguanide mentioned. Suitable condensation products are, for example, those which are produced using more than 1 mol, e.g. from 2 to 4 moles or more of formaldehyde, based on 1 mole of the compound, at least once the atomic grouping

derive preferably from aminotriazines. There are methylol compounds of aminotriazines or their ethers or esters into consideration. Among the compounds are above all reaction products of formaldehyde and 2,4,6-triamino-1,3,5-triazine, usually called melamine. Such condensation products can be contain up to 6 methylol groups; They usually represent mixtures of different compounds. Furthermore, methylol compounds of those derivatives of melamines which still contain at least one amino group can be considered, e.g. methylol compounds of melam, melem, ammeline, ammelide or of halogen-substituted aminotriazines, such as 2- Chloro-4,6-diamino-1,3,5-triazine;
also methylol compounds of guanamines, e.g. of benzoguanamine, acetoguanamine or formoguanamine.
Furthermore, formaldehyde condensation products of formaldehyde and guanylmelamine can be used for the purposes of the present invention. Such condensation products can be derived from mono-, di- or trigunylmelamine or mixtures thereof, which can be obtained by treating dicyandiamide in an inert solvent at high temperature with gaseous hydrogen halides and separating the free amines from the resulting salts by adding strong alkalis - Te guanylmelamines can be used for the production of ormaldehyde condensation products
The salts of the formaldehyde condensation products.
which can also be used instead of the free basic condensation products can be derived from inorganic acids such as hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid, or from organic acids, in particular from low molecular weight aliphatic acids such as formic acid, acetic acid, propionic acid or glycolic acid,
In addition to the aminoplasts, the aqueous preparations to be used in the present process can also contain other substances, e.g. Plasticizers for the textile material.
For example, a latex of a polymerisation plastic can also be added. Particularly advantageous latexes are those which contain groups that can be crosslinked with the aminoplasts. The polymers can be homopolymers or copolymers. They are preferably derived from monomeric compounds containing the atom group
EMI13.1
from, for example, vinyl esters of organic acids such as vinyl acetate, vinyl formate, vinyl butyrate, vinyl benzoate, also vinyl alkyl ketones, vinyl halides such as vinyl chloride, vinyl fluoride, vinylidene chloride, vinyl aryl compounds such as styrene and substituted styrenes,
furthermore from compounds of the acrylic acid and methacrylic acid series, such as esters of acrylic acid and alcohols or phenols e.g. Ethyl acrylate, butyl acrylate, dodecyl acrylate. Other monomeric compounds that can be used to build up the polymers are acrylonitrile, acrylamide and derivatives substituted on the amide substance, more finely analogous derivatives of methacrylic acid, α-chloroacrylic acid, orotonic acid, maleic acid or fumaric acid or acrylic acid or methacrylic acid itself, and finally polymerizable olefins, such as isobutylene, butadiene, 2-chlorobutadiene or heterocyclic compounds,
like the various vinyl pyridines. The production of binary, ternary or even more complex copolymers in emulsion form is known, so that there is no need to go into more detail here. Some suitable copolymers are mentioned below: 1. Copolymer of 50 parts of n-butyl acrylate,
40 parts of vinyl chloride, 6 parts of acrylic acid 2nd copolymer of 66 parts of n-3-butyl acrylate,
12 parts of styrene, 22 parts of vinyl isobutyl ether 3 copolymer of 64 parts of ethyl acrylate,
12 parts of styrenes 22 parts of vinyl isobutyl ether and 2 parts of acrylic acid 40 copolymer made from 70 parts of asymmetrical
Dichloroethane and 90 parts of butyl acrylate 5.
Copolymer of 56 parts of butyl acrylate,
40 parts of vinyl chloride and 4 parts of acrylic acid 6. Copolymer of 50 parts of asymmetrical
Dichloroethane, 45 parts of butyl acrylate and 5 parts of acrylamide 7. Copolymer of 52 parts of vinyl chloride, 35 parts of butyl acrylate, 7 parts of methyl acrylate and 6 parts of AcrylamidO
The commercially available copolymers of styrene and butadiene and of acrylonitrile and butadiene are also suitable
Of course, the aqueous preparation can contain one or more latex components in addition to one or more aminoplasts, for example a dispersed,
A derivative of a formaldehyde condensation product, which is insoluble in water but insoluble in organic solvents, of an amino compound producing resins which can be hardened with formaldehyde and a water-soluble formaldehyde condensation product of an amino compound which produces resins which can be hardened with formaldehyde.
Finally, the aqueous preparations can also contain the acidic catalyst required for hardening, such as ammonium sulfate, ammonium chloride, ammonium phosphate, ethanolamine chlorohydrate, magnesium chloride, zinc nitrate, zinc fluoroborate or ammonium silicofluoride
The aqueous preparations can now be applied to the textile fiber materials in a conventional manner known per se, advantageously at room temperature or at a slightly higher temperature, for example between 10 and 400 °.
The process is particularly suitable for the continuous working method, e.g. for printing fabrics using roller printing or for impregnating on a padder
The impregnation solutions can be used as additional additives e.g. Contain wetting or dispersing agents.
The usual thickening agents, such as starch, tragacanth, methylcellulose, can be used for the printing pastes, and here, too, other substances, such as hydrotropic agents such as urea, can be added
The proportions of the dyes and aminoplasts to be used in the present process, as well as any additional auxiliaries used, can vary within wide limits. The amount of the dyes depends essentially on the desired color strength Dye, and it is usually advisable to choose the quantitative ratio eo that the amount of aminoplast is a stehriachex of the amount of dye,
or to use preparations which contain about 20 to 200 parts aminoplast in 1000 parts,
After the preparation containing the dye and the aminoplast and the catalyst have been applied to the textile material, the whole is subjected to curing. Before hardening, drying is expediently carried out9 with advantage at room temperature or duroh heating to temperatures at which no significant hardening takes place, for example to those below 1000. The hardening is expediently carried out by simply heating to the required temperature, e.g. to between 120 and 1600, if desired, the hardening can be combined with a mechanical pressure treatment, e.g. with an embossing calender.
Depending on the type and amount of aminoplast, in some cases additional effects can be achieved in the present process, such as shattering or hydrophobization of the textile fiber.
In order to remove unfixed dye, it is advisable to soap the textile fibers after hardening in the usual way, e.g. by treating at 40 to 800 in a solution, soap, soap and sodium carbonate or a synthetic detergent, e.g. an ethylene oxide additive of a p-alkylenepheno le or 2-heptadecyl-N-benzyl-benzimidazole-disulfonic acid sodium, contains The dyeings and prints obtained by the present process are characterized by good wet fastness properties, in particular good washfastness:
Belgian patent 568'725 describes a process for dyeing and printing fibrous materials, characterized in that the fibrous materials which are impregnated with aqueous preparations are, on the one hand, water-soluble dyes, the at least one N-alkylol group or an atomic grouping that can be converted into such a group have, and on the other hand contain at least water-dispersible aminoplasts, subjected to curing.
The lightfastness of the dyeings obtained with the azo dyes specified in this patent is unsatisfactory. In contrast, the chromium and Robalt complex colorations to be used according to the present process are obtained which have a considerably better, surprisingly good lightfastness
In the following example, unless otherwise noted, the parts are parts by weight, the percentages are by weight and the temperatures are, as in the preceding description, given in degrees Celsius

A mercerized cotton fabric is treated with an aqueous solution on a padder,
20 parts of the 1: 2 chromium complex compound of the color toffee of the formula in 1000 rough parts

Contains 135 parts of a 75% aqueous solution of highly methylated hexamethylolmelamine and 4 parts of ammonium chloride. The tissue is preeid so that its weight gain is still 65%. It is then tufted at room temperature and then cured at 1500 for 6 minutes.
The fabric is then washed for 5 minutes at 500 in a solution which contains 2 g of an adduct of 9 mol of ethylene oxide with 1 mol of nonylphenol and 2 g of anhydrous sodium carbonate per liter of water. The fabric has a blue-gray hue; the dyeing is distinguished by its good fastness to washing and light
If you add 20 parts of a 20% aqueous polyethylene emulsion to 1000 parts by volume of the padding liquor, the dyed fabric shows a softer handle,
In accordance with the above procedure, cotton can also be dyed with the following 1: 2 metal complexes and dyeings of good to very good washfastness are obtained.
