Niederfrequenz-Induktionsofen.
Vorliegende Erfindung (Erfinder: Dipl.- Ing.
Low frequency induction furnace. In the usual design of low-frequency induction furnaces with melt channels that are closed on all sides in cross section, these channels are semicircular or in the manner of a U or. V , lie in vertical planes and open vertically into the bottom of the melting chamber. However, this arrangement has proven to be disadvantageous for the purpose of melting high-percentage copper alloys, and also when melting iron and steel, especially when it comes to furnaces for high melting capacities.
With these ovens, the distance from the bath surface to the lower apex of the channels is very large because of the high performance. For this reason, the hydrostatic pressure in the channel increases considerably, especially since the specific weight of the melt is high.
In addition, the buoyancy rate is considerable, especially in the vertical and vertical channels opening into a channel and, in conjunction with the high hydrostatic pressure, leads to faster wear of the internal walls. In addition, the strong buoyancy causes vigorous movements of the melt on the bath surface, as a result of which oxidation processes occur - loss-making burning off. If one wants to keep the wheel surface as small as possible, taking into account these oxidation processes, the melting chamber must be designed with a small diameter and a correspondingly greater height.
But then the hydrostatic pressure and thus the wear and tear of the internal walls continue to increase.
In order to avoid these disadvantages, furnace has already been used in which a melting channel runs horizontally or approximately horizontally and opens horizontally into the lower side wall of the melting chamber. In this type of furnace, the hydrostatic pressure and the buoyancy are lower; however, there are new disadvantages. First of all, it means a disadvantage that the melt is not mixed as evenly as in furnaces with vertical channels.
In these furnaces, the melt channel opens into the bottom of the melting chamber, and a strong, upward flow is formed approximately in the middle of the melt bath, so that all parts of the melt evenly participate in the bath movement. In the case of furnaces with a horizontally opening channel, however, the molten material initially emerges in a horizontal direction. It is then deflected vertically upwards by thermal lift. Depending on the speed at which it emerges from the channel, the material to be melted will either rise near the wall containing the mouth or more towards the center of the melt space.
In addition, only the colder melt material located immediately in front of the channel mouths, which must necessarily be arranged on one side, pushes hot melt material into the channel after the outlet, so that the parts of the melt further away from the channel mouths are not included in the circulation of the material. With the design described, one of the most important advantages of the induction furnace with vertical channels, namely the achievement of homogeneous melts through intensive and even mixing of the bath, is no longer apparent.
This phenomenon has a particularly disadvantageous effect when, as in the iron foundry, large furnace outputs and thus large capacities of the melting chamber are required. Then the one horizontal channel is no longer able to cope with the circulation of the molten material in the required strength and evenness.
The present invention (inventor: Dipl.-Ing.Friedrich Essmann, Cologne-Bayenthal) is now intended to create a furnace design which enables high melting rates and at the same time a sufficiently lively bath movement that is evenly distributed over the entire furnace contents, and relates to a low-frequency Induction furnace with melting channels opening into a crucible at least approximately horizontally, closed all round in cross-section and influenced by primary coils,
In which furnace according to the invention, at least three melting channels are arranged evenly distributed over the circumference of the crucible. where the number of primary coils is the same for the purpose of uniform loading of a network with at least three phases of the number of phases or an integral multiple of this number and each of the phases supplies the same number of primary coils with current .
The buoyancy currents of three or more melt channels in connection with the even distribution over the circumference of the melt area results in good and, above all, even mixing of the bath without the hydrostatic pressure in the channels having to be increased. An embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown in Figs. 1 and 2 of the drawing voltage in a vertical section and in a horizontal section.
a is the melting chamber (crucible), which is narrowed towards the upper opening. b is the refractory lining, which is held together in a well-known manner by a jacket c made of metal. The furnace chamber is provided with a pouring spout d at the upper end in a known manner.
In the example shown, as can be seen from Fig. 2, evenly distributed over the order, three U-shaped curved melt channels are provided. The arc-shaped reversal points of the channels are denoted by f, the straight branches running approximately radially to the center of the furnace chamber a are denoted by g, h. With reference to a plane which is laid through the central axis of the furnace chamber a and through the center of the core of the associated primary coil, each half of the grooves f, g, h is mirror-inverted.
The channel branches g, lt and their semicircular reversal route f are provided in lateral approaches e to position and have a closed cross-section. The coil cores i of the primary coils are arranged approximately in the center of the reverse arc of the grooves. Above and below the lateral approach e, the ends of this core are brought into connection in a known manner with a closed yoke p.
However, one can also use the channels to enclose an iron core of the yoke and arrange the coil outside the attachment e on one leg of the transformer yoke. Each of the coils belonging to the cores i should be connected to one phase of a three-phase network.
As can be seen in Fig. 1, the paths of each channel f, g, h lie in a plane that is only very slightly inclined to the horizontal, that is, the inclination angle of this plane to the horizontal plane is at most 10 degrees, so that the melt channels open at least approximately horizontally into the crucible a.
The three channels shown are also arranged in such a way that corresponding points of the channels f, g, h lie in the same horizontal plane.
Depending on the exit speed of the melted material, the material will either rise relatively close to the wall containing the mouth, or it will force the currents emerging from the various channels towards the furnace center axis. If necessary, however, each of the currents originating from the various channels in the area between the walls of the melting chamber and the furnace center axis will rise separately. In any case, the melt is penetrated by several upwardly directed currents of moderate speed and evenly.
If (see Fig. 2) both the linear distance between the center lines of the pair of branches g, h each in a closed channel at the confluence point - it should be labeled A - as well as the center line distance between the adjacent straight sections g , h of two consecutive gutters f, g, h, at their confluence - it should be named with A 'the same or approximately the same, i.e. at least 10% des mean distance is the same,
and if the line connecting the end points of each reversal section f through the center of the core i is greater than each of the same distances A, A ', the branches g, h run approximately radially to the center of the furnace and then become form and distribute the flows in the sense of symmetry with respect to the furnace center axis, which results in a uniform distribution of the bath movement over the entire furnace contents.
The melting channels can also be arranged in such a way that, instead of being at the same height, they are at two or more heights. In. the same height is then a group of as in Figs. 1, 2 angeord designated gutters. In this way, it is possible, please include a considerably larger number of melt channels to be arranged in the same furnace and thus to increase the performance significantly.
The result is a particularly useful furnace design with regard to the accommodation of the primary coils if one of the grooves located at different heights encloses the same primary coil. Are those located at the two or three different heights. Grooves always exactly one above the other, so the primary coil will be vertical; However, if the grooves are offset from one another at different heights on the circumference of the furnace, the primary coils must be positioned accordingly.
Of course, you will not choose this inclination too large. A design of the furnace is also conceivable in which the mouths of the melting channels open into the melting chamber at different heights from the side horizontally or at most at an angle of 10 to the horizontal and the distances between the channel mouths, viewed in plan, are the same as in Fig. 1 , 2 are. In this case, the planes containing the melt channel axes intersect the vertical furnace center axis at an acute angle.
These angles can be the same for each channel. It is useful if, with such an inclination of the channel levels, the melt channels open into a total of two horizontal levels. This design also makes it possible to arrange a particularly large number of channels on the circumference of the furnace and thus to increase its performance considerably. Even if the mouths of each channel open into the furnace from the side at different heights, a primary coil can be surrounded by several melting channels.
It is particularly advantageous if the number of melt channels is three or a multiple of three and if at the same time the melt channels are evenly distributed over the primary windings and these are evenly distributed between three phase connections of the furnace. In this case, the advantages of the new furnace design will be included. linked to the advantages of even phase loading.
If, as shown in Fig. 2, the two halves of each channel opening into the furnace chamber are designed in a mirror-inverted manner in relation to a plane containing the furnace center axis, each branch of the melting channel influences the bath movements in the same way and equally strong.
blan has already made the suggestion to arrange two channels opening horizontally into the furnace chamber next to one another or opposite one another and to equip each with a primary coil. In this way, higher melting capacities can be achieved, but a bath movement that is completely sufficient for a high furnace output and also very uniform cannot be achieved because the number and arrangement of the channels are too unfavorable for this purpose. In addition, the two channels were connected to a three-phase network using what is known as Scott's circuit, which means that the load on the three phases and all their disadvantages was very uneven.
The induction furnace shown and described is advantageous not only in terms of uniform loading of all three phases and in terms of uniform mixing of the melt, but also represents a happy solution in structural terms. All parts are oriented towards the vertical furnace center axis. This enables light to accommodate high furnace outputs in a compact, space-saving design. The primary coils are also evenly distributed over the outer circumference and can be arranged vertically or almost vertically, so that initially the absolutely necessary cooling of the coils is brought about to a certain extent by natural ventilation.
In addition, however, the new design also offers sufficient space to attach cooling fans, a possibility that is not advantageous, for example, in ovens with vertical grooves, because the primary coils are arranged horizontally in the same, which means large dimensions and the feed the cooling air from the side.
