Electromagnetic annunciator relay. The present invention relates to an electromagnetic annunciator relay, charac terized in that it comprises at least one mercury tube which controls signaling circuits, the tube disposed on a member which is distinct from the armature of the relay.
The appended drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of a relay according to the invention, in various operating positions.
Fig. 1 gives a view in elevation. The relay electromagnet is designated by 1 and its movable armature by 2. The latter, whose axis of oscillation is at 3, is provided with a counterweight 4 which returns it to its rest position. Its mobile end is provided with ratchets 5 and 6 intended to lock, the first, a balance 7, the second, a rearming equipment which will be discussed later.
The balance, whose axis of oscillation is at 8, carries at one of its ends a switch consisting of a mercury tube 9 which acts on contacts connected to a signaling circuit which may be acoustic, optical or other, and, at the other end, an indicator 10, white for example, corresponding to a so-called "normal" signal which can partially or totally mask another indicator 11, red for example,
corresponding to a so-called "danger" signal. This balance can be driven in the direction of clockwise by a rearming device 12 which is provided with a locking rod 13, the role of which will be explained below, and with a counterweight 14 which recalls it to its equilibrium position. This crew can be moved away from its free equilibrium position by a rod 15, connected to an opposing spring 16, and on which an operator can act by means of a push-button 17. Finally, a look 18 makes it possible to get to account of the operation which is announced by the relay, by observing the position occupied by one of the LEDs with respect to the other.
At rest, that is to say in normal operation, the relay occupies the position which is shown in FIG. 1 and repeated dried matically in FIG. 2. The electromagnet 1 not being excited, the armature 2 is in its rest position under the action of its counterweight 4, the ratchet 5 maintains the balance 7 using its finger. hooked 19, the contacts of the mercury tube 9 are open and finally the white indicator 10 appears fully in front of the sight glass 18.
When the electromagnet 1 is excited, the mature arc 2 sticks together and the ratchet 5 releases the hooking finger 19. The various phases of this operation are shown in FIGS. 3, 4 and 5. Under the action of the weight of the mercury tube 9, the pendulum comes to its equilibrium position, causing, by its movement, the operation of the signals from the relay by closing the contacts of the tube 9.
The indicator light 10 is then completely erased and the red indicator 11, the "danger" signal, shows on sight 18, as shown on the right-hand side of FIG. 6 which represents the position which is then occupied by the apparatus.
The operator, warned by an acoustic signal in particular, then resets the relay by pressing button 17.
If the operation announced by the relay was instantaneous and has ceased, the armature 2 is returned to its rest position. Pressing the push-button 17 drives the rod 15 which, coming up against the rearming device 12, forces the latter to move in the direction of the arrow (see FIG. 2). This crew, supported by its part 20 on the balance 7, drives the latter. The finger 19 slides on the oblique part of the ratchet 5, momentarily moves the armature 2 in the direction of the arrow (fig. 7), after which, having passed this ratchet, it is blocked by the armature 2 which, when stressed. by the counterweight 4, returns to its rest position.
The relay is then reset to the normal position (see fig. 2). The white indicator 10 is fully visible through the sight glass 18, as shown on the right part of FIG. 2, and the contacts of the mercury tube 9 are open. The device is ready to signal a new operation.
If, on the other hand, the operation announced by the relay is permanent, the relay remains in the position which is ", shown in fig. 6. A push on button 17, with a view to resetting the relay, has first the effect of tilting the crew 12 (see FIG. 2), causing the balance 7 to pivot clockwise.
During this movement, the locking rod 13 abuts on the ratchet 6 of the relay frame, slightly separates this frame, as shown in figs. 8 and 9, and passes under said ratchet. The electromagnet, still energized, attracts the armature and thus causes the locking of the rearming device 12.
On the other hand, stressed by the movement of said crew, the balance 7 has pivoted, which had the effect of cutting off the current of the acoustic signal by opening the contacts of the mercury tube 9, and placing the white indicator light. 10 in an intermediate position, so that one sees at sight 18 half of the indicator 10 and half of the indicator 11, ie a red-white optical signal, as shown on the right part of FIG. 10.
When the permanent operation ceases, the excitation of the electromagnet 1 is cut off. Solli cited by its counterweight 4, the 2nd frame comes to its rest position. The ratchet 6 then releases the rearming crew 12 which, urged on by its counterweight 14, returns to its normal position. Released, the balance 7 also returns to its equilibrium position under the action of the weight of the mercury tube. The contacts of the latter then close and the alarm; acoustic signals the end of the operation. While falling, the balance 7 has driven the white indicator light 10, so that it is the red indicator which appears entirely in sight 18.
The reset is carried out as before by pressing the button 17. The relay then returns to the position shown in fig. 2.
The device described could be used as an annunciator of a lack of voltage by placing the electromagnet 1 on the right of the armature 2 and the counterweight of the latter on the left. The locking and unlocking obtained would be identical to those described above, except for the inclination of the frame.
The device which is the subject of the invention has the advantage of eliminating any electrical contact in the air, which makes it explosion-proof, of eliminating return springs in the active components and of signaling of all purposes of operation.
