ferner Gemische all dieser Substanzen untereinander.
Berücksichtigt man, dass der in der Nitrocellulose als An feuchtung vorhandene Alkohol stets von solcher Grädigkeit ist, dass eine Lösung der Nitrocellulose darin nicht eintritt, und dass seine Menge infolge .seiner gleichmässigen Verteilung in der Nitrocellulose auch nicht ausreicht, um eine zusammenhängende Lö sung des Harzes zu bewirken, so muss es als ;
Process for the production of a Laekrohstoi% s. In addition to laekcollodium wool, so-called nitro lacquers also contain resins and plasticizers. In order to take into account the well-known fact that the moisture in the laekcollodion wool accumulates more and more in the lower layers of the packaging containers and therefore a certain uncertainty had to be accepted when processing the lacquer collodion wool with regard to the amount of moistening agent already gone over to
to roll the lacquer collodion wool together with plasticizers exhibiting solvent power and to use this celluloid-like mass as lacquer raw material.
As has now been found, celluloid-like masses can also be produced from paint collo: dium wool and from resins by kneading and rolling at temperatures of up to about <B> 70 '</B> on the usual celluloid mills, if nitrocellulose moistened with alcohols, whose amount of moistening is within the limits determined by the state of the art in centrifuge technology.
In view of the multiple possible variations in the ratio of nitrocellulose to resin in the finished paints, the ratio of nitrocellulose to resin in the rolling masses can be as desired; However, it is advisable to choose it in such a way that the dry-calculated lacquer collodion wool is available in excess. All natural or synthetic resins can be used for the process, provided they are compatible with nitracellulose.
Regardless of the type of nitrocellulose used, which can be used in any nitration level and viscosity setting, the resulting masses are transparent to translucent, completely gelatinized, celluloid-like films.
Without restricting the invention to these, the following are named as representatives of the natural resins suitable for the production of these new celluloid-like compositions: shellac, cellodammar, copal, colophonium; from synthetic resins: the resins obtained by condensation of cyclic ketones with alkali.
Furthermore, natural resins refined by condensation with phenols, alcohols or acids, then the resins obtained by polymerization from vinyl esters or other polymerizable monomers, in particular polyvinyl acetate, which are produced by condensation from substances containing OH and / or NH2 groups. synthetic resins,
also mixtures of all these substances with one another.
Even though in general the amount of alcohol remaining in the nitrocellulose free of the prior centrifugal technology, even if it is smaller than the amount that takes the nitrocellulose from its explosive character, is completely sufficient to ensure a perfect mutual solid solution of the nitrocellulose and the Bring about resins,
In some cases one can make the rolling work easier by adding either a little moistening agent or a small amount of aromatic hydrocarbons. In particularly stubborn cases it may be advisable to add a few percent real nitrocellulose solvent.
In any case, this addition of organic liquids must be measured in such a way that the mixture of nitrocellulose resin retains its flaky structure during kneading, which is expediently carried out at a slightly elevated temperature of about "30-40" Even with a single pass through one of the usual celluloid rolling mills, a well-gelatinized rolling skin is obtained from this still heterogeneous mixture.
If one takes into account that the alcohol present in the nitrocellulose as moistening is always of such a degree that a solution of the nitrocellulose does not enter it, and that its amount, due to its even distribution in the nitrocellulose, is not sufficient for a coherent solution of the To effect resin, it must be called;
The result that cannot be foreseen is that a completely homogeneous, well-gelatinized celluloid-like mass is present after the rolling work.
The following examples serve to illustrate the invention: 1. 100 parts of medium-viscosity, ester-soluble collodion wool with a degree of nitration of about 73%, which contain 35 parts of moistening alcohol, are mixed with 65 parts of Cellodammar in a kneading machine at about 10 ')
Knead for 25 minutes. The resulting crumbly mass, which still clearly shows the nitrocellulose structure, is then rolled on a celluloid rolling mill. A clear, transparent film is obtained.
2. 100 parts of low-viscosity, so-called alcohol-soluble collodion wool with a degree of esterification of at most 66%, which is moistened with 35 parts of an approximately 81% ethyl alcohol or 95% butanol,
are worked up with 35-40 parts of shellac according to Example 1. The celluloid-like mass obtained is a yellow, slightly opaque film.
3. 100 parts of a highly viscous, ester-soluble collodion wool according to Example 1 are mixed with 30-35 parts of polyvinyl acetate and the amount of toluene corresponding to half the amount of moistening alcohol is gradually added during the kneading process.
After a uniformly mixed mass has been achieved, it is rolled out on a celluloid mill to a light-colored, transparent, celluloid-like mass.
Instead of the particularly listed natural or synthetic resins, the other resins compatible with the nitrocellulose can be used alone or as a mixture with one another. The celluloid-like masses consisting of resin and nitrocellulose are used as paint raw material. If necessary, you can also receive other additives customary for paint production.
