Servo brake for motor vehicles. The regulations on the operational safety of motor vehicles require that the servo brake can also be actuated when the medium supplying the servo force is missing. Servo brakes are known in which the force exerted by the brake pedal acts simultaneously on the control valve and the servo apparatus by means of a two-armed lever. If there is no working medium, the servo device is moved by the force exerted on the brake pedal. This means that the driver has to overcome the frictional resistance of the servo device and the forces of the return springs by the force exerted on the pedal.
Since if there is no servo effect, the brake; of the vehicle is already greatly reduced in its effectiveness, any loss of power is disadvantageous.
The subject of the invention now forms a servo brake for motor vehicles, in which the organ to be operated by the driver and the organ that can be influenced by the working medium are connected to the brake linkage in such a way that if the working medium is absent, the force exerted by the driver without co-actuation of the work medium influenceable organ is transferred to the brake rod.
In the drawing, an embodiment example of the subject invention is shown schematically in section.
A servo brake that works with compressed air is selected as an example. The brake pedal 1 transmits the force exerted by the driver on the same through a tie rod 2 to a lever 8, one end of which is connected to the brake linkage, not shown; Piston rod 4 and its end is articulated on the actuating rod 5 of the control valve 6. By loading the latter, a line 7 coming from a compressed air reservoir (not shown) is brought into connection with the line 9 leading into a cylinder 8. In the cylinder 8, a piston 10 is axially movably arranged on the rod 4 and is pressed into the right end position by a helical spring 11.
Behind the piston 10, the rod 4 carries a flange 1 \? Which serves as a driver for the piston 10 when the brake is actuated and on which a helical spring 13 arranged in the spring 11 acts from the left. On the side facing the piston 10, the flange 1.2 has a washer 14, which prevents the escape of compressed air through the Kol benbohrung in the space 15 behind the piston, which space is through an opening 16 with the outdoors in connec tion .
When you press the pedal 1, the valve 6 is opened via the rod 5 and thereby normally compressed air in the cylinder 8 before the Zy. Piston 10 inserted. This is moved to the left by overcoming the springs 11 and 13, taking the piston rod 4 with it through the flange 12 and thereby actuating the brake.
However, if the working medium, in the example the compressed air, remains when the pedal 1 is actuated, for some reason, the piston rod 4 without the piston 10 is shifted to the left by the lever 3 and thereby the brake, albeit with less force Driver operated. The actuation of the brake is thus ensured even in the absence of the working medium.
When the pressure on the pedal 1 is released, the spring 13 moves the piston rod 4 back into its right end position and thus automatically releases the brake.
Instead of a piston. can of course use another suitable organ as the working organ, e.g. B. a flexible skin, or a set of two or more pistons or Mem branes to achieve a greater braking force. The invention of course also includes: braking under vacuum in the same way.
