Method and apparatus for the continuous pressing of tubular strands, e.g. B. Cable sheaths. In the known arrangements for un interrupted pressing of tubular strands such. B. cable sheaths, the material is usually set in liquid form and the pressure generated by a drive screw arranged in the receiver. The invention relates to a Ver drive and a device for pressing tubular strands, for. B. Cable sheaths, in which the material, as is common with piston presses, is used in solid form and pressed in a plastic state.
The sensor is arranged in a stationary manner and is heated in such a way that the material in front of the press nozzle reaches the plastic state required for pressing.
The invention is characterized in that new material is continuously inserted into the transducer and the pressing pressure is generated by the material flowing into the same as the material is continuously pushed into the transducer. The still solid material used acts as a piston for the material that has already been advanced in front of the press nozzle and softened by heating.
The extrusion press for carrying out the Vefah.rens according to the invention has a continuously acting conveying means arranged in front of the sensor for feeding the material to be used into the sensor. This funding should grasp the continuously supplied material without slipping and at the same time be appropriately strong enough to generate the thrust required to press the material through the press nozzle.
Link chains with gripping jaws are preferably used for this purpose, specifically two or more link chains which are coupled to one another and which grasp the material firmly from two or more sides at the same time. To avoid slippage, the conveying means is advantageously held pressed against the blocks by means of sliding tracks perpendicular to the conveying direction. In order to facilitate the insertion of the material, the cavity of the sensor is expediently widened at the end on the feed side.
For use in extrusion presses for the method according to the invention, blocks and rods made of the material to be pressed are suitable. Rods are preferably used, because with rods the air inclusions that are always present when using blocks at the joints are eliminated and do not have to be squeezed out by the pressing process. The use of rods also has the advantage that the rods can be extended as required by butt welding on additional rods. The blocks or rods can be preheated in a conveyor furnace arranged in front of the conveyor of the press who the.
To operate presses in which the mandrel is arranged in the axis of the transducer, it is recommended to use the material in the form of ring piece-shaped blocks around the press mandrel. In the same way, when the material is used in rod form, it is expedient to use shaped rods with a cross section. The radius of the curvature of the surfaces of the insert pieces facing the press mandrel is advantageously chosen to be somewhat larger than the outer radius of the mandrel, since the insert does not jam under the pressure of the link chains on the mandrel.
The mandrel is advantageously cooled with water or compressed air and equipped with cooling channels for this purpose. A cooling of the mandrel is necessary in particular for crimping cables, because otherwise the insulation of the cable would suffer from the heat during the pressing.
The drawing shows an exemplary embodiment of the device for implementing the method.
Fig. 1 is a longitudinal section and Fig. 2 is a cross section along the line A-A of Fig. 1.
1 denotes the pick-up of the press and 2 the press mandrel that boldly asserts it. 3 is the mandrel insert and 4 is the die, which is attached by means of the screw 5 in the receiver. 6 are the blocks to be pressed. You are by means of the two link chains 7 and 8, which run over the chains 9 and 10, inserted into the transducer. The link chains are equipped with gripper jaws 11 and 12, which have sloping gripping surfaces from (Fig. 2).
In order to generate the contact pressure required for slippage-free conveying of the blocks or rods, the chain links run while they are in engagement with the blocks or rods, via sliders 13 and 14, which are pressed against the link chains from the inside using the springs 15 and 16 being held. The base plates 17 and 18, which carry the springs 15 and 16, are arranged to be adjustable so that the contact pressure can be adjusted.
The cavity of the pick-up 1 is widened at 19 on its feed side for better introduction of the blocks. With the heating jacket of the transducer is referred to, It is equipped with a gas furnace not shown in the drawing. Instead, an electric heater can also be seen before.
In Fig. 1 it is indicated that the insert blocks 6 are still a little way into the transducer as individual blocks, but that the dividing lines are blurred in the vicinity of the press nozzle because the blocks are welded together by the heating and the pressure are.
From Fig. 2 'is. It can be seen that the insert consists of ring-shaped block pieces, the inner diameter of which is slightly larger than the outer diameter of the press mandrel 2.
The insulated cable core. which is pressed around in the example shown is marked with. 21 denotes .. To protect the cable core against the heat of the transducer, the mandrel 2 is provided with cooling channels 22 through which a cooling liquid or compressed air flows. 23 is the finished metal jacket pressed around the insulated cable core.
