Cet appareil comporte (fig.
Apparatus for the agglomeration of powder products. The present invention relates to an apparatus for manufacturing agglomerates, for example -de fuel, this apparatus ensuring a regular supply and obtaining density tablets. and of substantially constant dimensions.
This device is characterized by two drive cylinders rotating in opposite directions from each other, and leaving between them a free space in which is driven the product to be agglomerated, a piston driven by a backward movement. and-reciprocating being disposed between .these .two drive cylinders, and pushing the load of treated products into a cylinder where it compresses it, which transforms this load into agglomerate.
An apparatus according to the invention -is shown, by way of example, in the attached drawing, in which: FIG. 1 is a longitudinal section through the whole of the apparatus; figs. 2 and 3 are two cuts made respectively along lines 2 @ -2, and 3-3, of the. fig. 1.
fig. 4 is a perspective view showing a detail of FIG. 3.
figs. 5 and 6 are similar to FIG. 1, but showing two other positions of the organs of the apparatus.
This apparatus comprises (fig. 1 to 4) a compression cylinder 1, in which slides a piston 2 actuated by connecting rod 3, and crank 4. The latter, which forms vïlb @ shark, is secured to a shaft. 5 carried by bearings 61, 62 and receiving at one of its ends a driving pulley 7.
Piston 2 goes to 1.e. bottom 8 'of a hopper 8 adjacent to cylinder 1. The stroke of piston 2 is such that for 7; in the far left position (fig. 5) of crank 4, this piston 2 uncovers the bottom:
lia hopper 8 along a length -l. This hopper 8 receives two dragging cylinders 9 ', 92 arranged symmetrically with respect to the longitudinal axis X', X'1 of the compression cylinder 1, the axes X ', X'2, X', X < I> \ </I> of these cylinders being parallel to. this. axis X ', X'1.
These drive rolls 9 ', 92 have projections 9', 9'1, 92, 92 'arranged along generatrices.
The two cylinders 91, 9 'are driven in rotation in the opposite direction to each other by a mechanism which comprises a helical gear 15 wedged on a longitudinal shaft 16.
This shaft 1: 6 carries at its end a helical pinion 17, which meshes with another helical pinion 18 fixed on a transverse shaft, 19. This shaft 19 finally carries helical pinions 201, 20 'meshing with helical toothed wheels 21 ', 222 respectively wedged on the shafts 10', 102 of the drive rollers 91, 92.
Finally, the compression cylinder 1 is surrounded by a casing 22, so that an annular capacity 23 is provided between this casing 2.2 and the compression cylinder 1. It is thus possible to circulate around the compression cylinder 1. a fluid at controlled temperature, supplied by a pipe 24.
The operation is as follows: The crank 4 turns according to f 1 for example, which, on the one hand, gives the udder tone 2 an alternating movement following <I> f ', f' </I> and, on the other hand hand, prints to the driving cylinders 9 ', 9' reverse rotations according to the arrows ±, f @, <I> f 5. </I>
The mixture is loaded according to f e into the hopper 8. cold agglomeration consisting for example of coal and pulverized pitch previously coated: by a tar emulsion.
By rotating, the two driving cylinders 9 ', 92 bring this mixture into the cavity 82 which is released (FIG. 5) when the piston 2i reaches the bottom. following stroke f2, so that the mixture fills @le vacuum left by said piston 2.
The mixture having been brought into this cavity is then driven by the piston 2 during the stroke of this following piston f '.
This mixture then enters the compression cylinder 1, where it is compressed between the piston 2 and the string of agglomerates 25 ', 25' already formed.
Thanks to a lubricant contained in the mixture to be agglomerated, the friction between the strand 26 of agglomerates and the walls of the <B> cylinder </B> linder are reduced to a suitable and constant value to allow the path of the strand - under the force of the piston.
The pressure generated by the reaction of the walls opposing the path of the strand is transmitted to the particles to be agglomerated and ensures their penetration into one another.
These various operating conditions thus co-operate with each other in the formation of an agglomerate of great homogeneity and of sufficient mechanical strength.
The agglomeration of the mixture is caused by the friction of the compressible material on the walls of the mold, this agglomeration is the more intense and more homogeneous the longer the length of the mold is.
The supply of the mixture by means of the two drive rolls 9 ', 9th rotating at suitable speeds, eliminates any formation of arches in the mass and, consequently, ensures a regular and definite supply of obtaining tablets whose density and dimensions are substantially constant.
In addition, the protrusions or indentations formed by the periphery of the driving rollers 91 92 cooperate in the regular driving of the product.
The friction of the mixture on the walls of the cylinder 2 heats the latter after a few strokes of the piston, which determines the softening and the flow of the binders (or pitch in particular) contained in the mixture between the particles to be agglomerated.
To control this heating, cold water is circulated in the annular space 23, so as to regulate the temperature of the walls of the cylinder 1. This adjustment cooperates in maintaining a suitable and constant friction effect. between the walls of the cylinder and the strand of agglomerates.
At the start of an operation, the normal operation of the apparatus is initiated by means of a plug 27 (fig. 5) which is forcibly pledged at the outlet 28 of the cylinder 1, so as to close this exit.
The apparatus according to the invention can be used for the agglomeration of products other than that mentioned.
