Method for irradiating liquid, in particular highly viscous liquid, and device for carrying out the method. The present invention relates to a method for irradiating liquid, in particular highly viscous liquid, and to a device for carrying out the method. A highly viscous liquid is to be understood as meaning at least 1 Engler degree.
When irradiating liquids, it is in the interest of rational work that the liquid is guided in relation to the source of illumination in such a way that every particle of this liquid can be irradiated on all sides. According to the method according to the invention, this is made possible by the fact that the liquid to be irradiated is guided around the radiation source in a helical path.
To carry out the method, a device is used which has a tube surrounding the radiation source, which tube is designed so that liquid flowing in it moves in a helical shape around the radiation source. In the accompanying drawing, an example embodiment of a device is shown before the invention.
It shows: FIG. 1 a schematic representation of the principle of the method, FIG. 2 a cross section through the device along the line B-B in FIG. 3, and FIG. 3 an axial section along the line AA in Fig. 2 on a larger scale. According to Fig. 1, the liquid to be irradiated passes through the tubular radiation source 1 in one. helical path 2.
At the same time, the particles of the liquid in tracks 3, the axis of which is formed at approximately by the track 2, circle.
In the embodiment according to FIGS. 2 and 3, the tube 1 forming the radiation source is arranged within a tube 4 which has ribs 5 running in a helical manner on its inner wall. These ribs show the path of the liquid flowing through between the tubes 1 and 4, and the shape of the ribs 5 is intended to cause the particles of the liquid to circle towards the path 3. In this way it can be achieved that every particle of the liquid reaches the irradiation on all sides.
In order to enable complete air exclusion in order to prevent oxidation, a construction in the manner of a stuffing box can be used, for example, so that the space between the pipe 4 and the radiation source 1 is hermetically sealed.
A double-helical flow of the liquid or its particles around the radiation source can be achieved in that the liquid is passed through a double-helical pipe which surrounds the pipe 1. This tube must of course be permeable to the rays of the radiation source 1. In any case, it is essential that the liquid to be irradiated is given a movement around the radiation source and, in addition, a turbulent movement of the liquid particles is made possible.
