Pipe.
La manière d'utiliser la pipe est la sui vante: Les instruments 15 et 24 étant placés dans les logements, pour retirer l'instrument 15, on agit avec l'ongle sur la goupille 22 pour faire sortir le manchon 17 de la partie 7 du logement 4; dans ce mouvement, la gou pille 21, engagée dans l'eneache 9, se déplace dans l'ouverture 18 du tube 16, jusqu'à ce qu'elle bute à l'extrémité de cette ouverture;
Dans le logement 37 est placé un instru ment 51 pour le bourrage de la pipe; cet ins- trument est formé d'un tube métallique fendu 52 portant un manchon de bois 53 d'un dia mètre égal à celui de la partie 42 du loge ment et d'une tige métallique 54 coulissant dans le tube 52 et portant à son extrémité libre une tête métallique 55, dont le plan est perpendiculaire à l'axe de la tige; cette der nière porte encore; dans sa partie médiane, une goupille 56 qui est engagée dans une ou verture longitudinale 57 de la paroi du tube;
Pipe. The object of the present invention is a pipe. This pipe is characterized in that it carries at least one instrument placed in a housing and intended for use with the pipe.
The appended drawing represents, by way of examples, two embodiments of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is an elevational view of the first embodiment.
Fig. 2 is a partial view from below and FIG. 3 is a section through III-III of FIG. 2.
Fig. 4 is a front view and FIGS. 5 and 6 are side views, on an enlarged scale, of a detail.
Figs. 7 and 8 are, respectively, front and side views, on an enlarged scale, of another detail.
Fig. 9 is an elevational view of the second embodiment.
Fig. 10 is a partial top view and FIG. 11 is a side view from the right of FIG. 9, Figs. 12 and 13 are, respectively, front and side views, on an enlarged scale, of a detail.
Figs. 14 and 15 are analogous views of another detail.
The embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 to 8 comprises a furnace 1 with interior cavity 3 and a pipe 2. The furnace 1 has two longitudinal cylindrical housings 4 and 5 drilled in its wall and arranged symmetrically with respect to the longitudinal median plane of the pipe. These housings are blind on the side of the upper face of the furnace and open at the base thereof. The housing 4 comprises two parts, an upper 6 and a lower 7, of larger diameter and opening at the base of the furnace; part 6 has, at its lower part, a longitudinal slot 8 terminating upwards in a transverse notch 9; the slot 8 is extended downwards by a lateral opening 10 of the part 7.
The housing 5 also comprises two parts, an upper 11 and a lower 12, of larger diameter; these two parts are joined by a transverse slot 13 formed in the wall of the furnace; part 12 has an opening 14 on the outer wall of the furnace.
In the housing 4 is placed a cleaning instrument 15 formed of a metal tube 16 slit longitudinally carrying at one of its ends a metallic cylindrical sleeve 17 (it could also be made of wood, ebonite, etc.) , of diameter equal to part 7 of housing 4; the wall of the tube 1.6 has, over part of its length from the sleeve 17, a longitudinal opening 18 terminating in a transverse notch 19.
In the tube 16 slides, with greasy friction, a metal rod 20 carrying a pin 21 engaged in the opening 18 of the tube 16. This rod 20 can turn in the tube 16, so that the pin 21, when it is located at the end of the opening 18, can engage in the notch 19. The sleeve carries, projecting on its turn, a pin 22.
In the housing 5 is placed an instrument 24 for stuffing the pipe; this instrument is formed of a lique metal tube 25 (it could also be a rod) por both at one of its ends a cylindrical sleeve 26 having an inside diameter greater than the outside diameter of the tube 25, so as to leave between the two parts an annular space. The tube 25 has, over almost its entire length, from the sleeve 26, a longitudinal opening 27 terminated by a transverse notch 28.
A metal head 29, the plane of which is perpendicular to the axis of the tube, carries a collar 30 through which it can smooth over the tube; this collar has a lug 31 which engages in the opening 27, so as to guide the head 29, when it moves on the tube 25. The collar 30 also has, diametrically opposed to the lug 31, a tab 32 cut in the edge of the collar and pressing on the tube. The sleeve has, projecting on its periphery, a pin 33.
The way to use the pipe is as follows: The instruments 15 and 24 being placed in the housings, to remove the instrument 15, we act with the fingernail on the pin 22 to release the sleeve 17 from part 7 housing 4; in this movement, the pin 21, engaged in the inlet 9, moves in the opening 18 of the tube 16, until it abuts at the end of this opening;
At this time, the instrument is rotated in the housing, so as to release the pin 21 from the notch 9 and engage it in the notch 19 of the tube. The instrument 15, ready for use, can then be removed from its housing.
To put it back in place, it is made to enter the housing by passing the pin 21 through the openings 10 and 8; when the pin reaches the bottom of the opening 8, the instrument 15 is rotated in the housing, so as to disengage the pin 21 from the notch 19 of the opening 18 and to engage it in the slot 9 of the housing; the tube 16 and the sleeve 17 can then be inserted into the housing, the pin 21 moving in the opening 18 of the tube 16.
To remove the instrument 24 from its housing, one acts with the fingernail on the pin 33 and the tube 25 is withdrawn from the housing, until the head 29, still held in the slot 13, is arrival at the end of the opening 27 of the tube 25, where it abuts by the lug 31 of the collar 30; before removing the head 29 from the slot 13, the tube 25 is rotated to engage the lug 31 in the notch 28; the head is thus made integral with the tube and the instrument can be taken out which is ready to. the job.
To put it back in place, we put the head 29 in the slot 13, we turn the tube in the opposite direction of the previous rotation to release the lug 31 from the notch 28, then we push the tube inside the housing and the sleeve is placed in part 12 of the housing.
The embodiment shown in FIGS. 9 to 15 also has two longitudinal housings 36 and 37 open over their entire length. These housings are arranged symmetrically with respect to the longitudinal median plane of the pipe; they are blind on the side of the base of the furnace and open on the upper face thereof. The housing 36 is formed of two parts 38 and 39, the latter, of larger diameter and arranged at the upper part; part 38 has, about halfway up the furnace, a transverse notch 40.
The housing 37 is formed of a middle portion 41, an upper portion 42 of larger diameter and an interior portion 43 placed near the base of the furnace and having the shape of a transverse slot.
In the housing 36 is placed a cleaning instrument 44 formed of a split metal tube 45 carrying a wooden sleeve 46 (it could also be metal, ebonite, etc.) at one of its ends and a metal rod 47 slidable in the tube 45; the latter has, in its median part, a longitudinal opening 48 terminated, at its end opposite the sleeve 46, by a transverse notch 49.
The rod 47 carries, in its middle part, a pin 50 engaged in the opening 48 and able, moreover, to engage in the notch 49 when the rod 47 is rotated relative to the tube 45. This pin 50 is long enough to further engage in the transverse notch 40 of portion 38 of housing 36. This notch holds rod 47 in place while the tube is withdrawn from the housing; the pin having arrived at the end of the opening 48, the instrument is turned in the housing with the aim, first of disengaging the pin 50 from the notch 40, then, following the movement, of engage this pin in the notch 49 of the tube.
We can then take out the instrument which is ready for use. We proceed in reverse to put it back in place.
In the housing 37 is placed an instrument 51 for stuffing the pipe; this instrument is formed of a split metal tube 52 carrying a wooden sleeve 53 with a diameter equal to that of part 42 of the housing and of a metal rod 54 sliding in tube 52 and carrying to its free end, a metal head 55, the plane of which is perpendicular to the axis of the rod; this last one is still wearing; in its middle part, a pin 56 which is engaged in a longitudinal or vertical opening 57 of the wall of the tube;
this opening has, at its end opposite posed to the sleeve 53, a transverse notch 58 in which the pin 56 can be engaged when the rod is rotated relative to the tube. The sleeve 53 protruding around the perimeter of the furnace 1, it is easily possible, with the nail, to remove the tube 52 from the housing by keeping the head 55 in the slot 43 and this until the pin 56 comes to the end of the opening 57; at this moment, the tube 52 is turned on the rod 54 so as to engage the pin 56 in the notch 58 and the instrument which is ready for use is removed .
The procedure is reversed for re-installation.
The instruments will preferably be made of aluminum, so as not to weigh down the pipe unnecessarily.
