Luftabscheider an Brennstoff-Förderanlagen an lageveränderlichen Brennkraftmaschinen.
Die Zeichnung betrifft mehrere Ausfüh rungsbeispiele des Gegenstandes der Erfin dung, und zwar zeigt: Fig. 1 das Schema einer mit einem Luft- abscheider versehenen Brennstoff-Förder anlage, Fig. 2 einen Längsschnitt durch den Luftabscheider, Fig.3 das Schema einer andern Brenn stoff-Förderanlage; Fig. 4 stellt einen Längsschnitt durch ihren Luftabscheider dar; in Fig. 5 ist das Schema einer dritten Brenn stoff-Förderanlage mit zwei Brennstoffbehäl tern dargestellt; Fig. 6 zeigt einen Längsschnitt durch ihren Luftabscheider;
Air separators on fuel delivery systems on variable-position internal combustion engines. In injection systems at variable internal combustion engines, such as aircraft engines, are. a hand pumping device, two feed pumps and the injection pump housed in the internal combustion engine, while the storage containers for the fuel are often located at a greater distance from the engine. As long as everything is in order, the feed pumps deliver significantly more, fairly bubble-free fuel than the injection pumps consume at full load. The excess fuel is usually fed back to the suction side of the feed pump via a preloaded non-return valve.
When using an air separator arranged between the feed pump and the injection pump in accordance with the main patent no. 196754, excess fuel can also flow off through the air discharge. In order to prevent excreted air from reaching the suction side of the feed pumps, the air discharge line, through which, as I said, fuel can also flow, must be fed back into the storage container, which in some systems requires a long return line. Where several fuel storage containers are provided, the return of the separated and still fuel contained air to the respective container connected to the conveyor system is quite cumbersome.
According to the invention, the return line to the storage container for the air separated in the air separator can be completely omitted, since in the air separator a pendulum which, when the air separator changes its position, changes its position to the free outside space. seeks to maintain under the action of gravity, and a float is placed in a chamber of the air separator,
which is adjusted by its buoyancy when immersing in the fuel entering the chamber compared to the pendulum and causes the completion of an air discharge from the chamber when the fuel level in the chamber exceeds a certain level that is always lower than that Regardless of the position of the air separator, the opening of that line in the chamber, so that only air can flow out through the open line.
The drawing relates to several Ausfüh approximately examples of the subject matter of the invention, namely shows: Fig. 1 the scheme of a fuel delivery system provided with an air separator, Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section through the air separator, Fig.3 the scheme of another fuel fabric conveyor system; Fig. 4 shows a longitudinal section through its air separator; In Fig. 5 is the scheme of a third fuel conveyor system with two fuel containers shown tern; Fig. 6 shows a longitudinal section through its air separator;
FIG. 7 shows a section along line 11-TI in FIG. 6, it being assumed that there is only very little fuel in the float chamber of the separator; Fig. 8 shows a section along Linde III-III in Fig. 6; here it is assumed that the float chamber of the separator is completely or almost completely filled with fuel.
In Fig.1 and 2, the injection pump 1 promotes the fuel through the pressure lines 2 in the injection nozzles of an internal combustion engine, not shown. To a fuel tank 3, which can be located some distance from the machine, two feed pumps 4 are connected, which take the container 3 ent fuel by means of the pivot tube 3a and suction lines 4a and feed it through the feed line 5 to an air separator 6a. In the suction line 4a of each feed pump 4, a shut-off valve B is arranged and a handpump device P is also provided in one suction line.
The air separator 6a is connected to one end of the suction chamber of the injection pump 1 by a pipe 7 through which excess vented fuel is fed to this pump. The other end of this suction chamber is connected to one of the suction lines 4a by a line 8.9 through which the fuel not received by the injection pump is passed back to the suction side of the feed pumps via an overflow valve 9 preloaded to the desired pressure in the suction chamber of the injection pump . The air discharge line 10a branching off from the separator is provided with a throttle opening (not shown) and opens into the intake pipe S of the internal combustion engine.
The cylindrical housing 11a of the air separator has a base 12 and a cover 13 that is screwed on (not shown). In the center of the cover there is a threaded hole for the connector 14 of the air discharge line 10a and underneath the connector 18 of the fuel supply line 5 to the separator .
In the middle of the bottom of the case, the discharge line 7 for the vented fuel is connected by means of the connection piece 15. A pendulum 50 is rotatably mounted in the cover and in the bottom, in which an annular space 52 closed by the cover is arranged,
which is connected to the connection piece 18 and the fuel supply line 5 and from which a pipe 53 attached to the pendulum guides the fuel into the housing hla. The hub 51 of the pendulum carries a weight 54 opposite the tube 53, whereby the center of gravity of the pendulum is shifted in this direction out of the axis of rotation.
A bore 55 extending from the bottom of the pendulum connects to an axial bore 56 which is always connected via the connection piece 15 to the discharge line 7 for the vented fuel leading to the suction chamber of the fuel pump.
In the pivot pin on the cover side of the pendulum, an axial bore 57 is provided, which is connected at the pin end via the connection piece 14 to the air discharge line 10a and opens out via a bore 58 into a radial bore 59 provided with a thread. In the thread of the bore 59, a valve housing 60 is screwed, in which two longitudinal bores 61 and 62 are provided. The bore 58 opens into the bore 61. This bore is not drilled through at the top, but is connected to the bore 62 by a transverse bore 63. The longitudinal bore 62 merges from its narrow opening 64 at the top of the valve housing into a conical valve seat 65 and opens at the other end at some distance from the pendulum.
In the bore 62 is a valve needle 66, which is seated at the bottom of a float 67 giving the valve housing. The float is guided on the valve housing so that it can only move radially to the pendulum with the valve needle. Between the tube 53 and the float 67, a partition 68 is fastened to the hub 51 of the pendulum, which prevents the passage of the fuel entering through this tube after the valve opening 64.
A bore 69 in the cover of the Ge housing 11a is closed to a barrier oil line 70 and opens into an oil groove 71 in the bearing of the pendulum. The barrier oil supplied through the line 70 under pressure ver prevents fuel from flowing out of the annular space 52 along the bearing pin of the pendulum into the air discharge line 10a.
The air separator shown is advantageously arranged in the aircraft such that in the normal position the axis of rotation of the pendulum lies in the horizontal plane perpendicular to the direction of flight. Then, when the aircraft moves up and down, the air separator housing rotates around its axis, which remains horizontal, and the pendulum always keeps the mouth of the drain hole 55 in the lower space of the separator, which is filled with air-free fuel, so that this fuel can be injected unhindered. pump can get.
If the fuel in the air separator exceeds a certain height, the float 67 is raised so far by its buoyancy that the valve needle rests on the conical seat in the valve body and the connection between the interior of the air separator housing and the air discharge line 10a is interrupted. If fuel containing air or gas bubbles is fed to the separator, the bubbles accumulating in the upper part of the housing 11a push the fuel level lower, so that the float also sinks and the valve needle opens the cone valve and the air flows through line 10a to the suction pipe S. can escape.
Since the narrow opening 64 acts as a throttle in the air discharge, a rapid drop in pressure is prevented, so that the fuel flowing in through the line 5 can raise the float 67 and close the valve 66 before the pressure in the air separator falls below the space in the suction pressure required by the injection pump has fallen.
In the device according to FIGS. 3 and 4, the fuel supplied in excess by the feed pumps 4 does not flush the suction chamber of the injection pump, and this can be fed via a line 5a with a pressure reducing valve set to the feed pressure of the pumps 4 the pressure side to the suction side of these pumps.
The air separator 6b only flows to as much fuel as the injection pump is processing.
In the middle of the bottom 12 and the cover 13 of the cylindrical housing 11b of the air separator 6b, a pendulum 72 is superimposed. On the side of the pendulum facing the housing base, an annular space 74 which is open towards the housing base and is closed by this base is arranged in its hub 73.
The annular space is connected on the one hand to the supply line 5, which is closed on the bottom of the housing, and on the other hand, two tubes 75 attached to the top of the hub of the pebble, of which the drawing shows only one, lead into the interior of the housing. The exiting from these pipes fuel hits a baffle plate 76 attached to the Pen del, which shields a space for the supply of fuel from the rest of the interior of the housing and is only open towards the housing bottom.
The pendulum carries a weight 77 on the lower side, through which the center of gravity of the pendulum is moved out of its axis of rotation in this direction. A bottom of the pendulum outgoing hole 78 connects via a longitudinal hole 79 the lower part of the housing interior with the connected to the bottom of the building outlet 7 for the air bubble-free fuel. In the middle of the housing cover 13, the air discharge line 10a is connected.
On the right in Fig. 4 side of the pendulum 72 a sleeve 80 is rotatably ge superimposed, which carries a float 81 at the top and a pendulum-like weight 82 below. In the float 81, a transverse tube 87 is arranged parallel to the longitudinal axis of the pendulum, to which the radial tube 83 is connected. Constrictions 88 are provided in the two mouths of the cross tube 8 7 that are guided through the float wall. and in the interior of the longitudinal tube a ball 89 is arranged, which can move freely in this tube. The tube 83 is secured in the sleeve.
A radial bore 84 connects the pipe end to the bearing surface of the liner. In the radial plane of this bore 84, a radial bore 85 is also seen in the axis of the pendulum 72, which opens into a longitudinal bore 86 arranged in the remote part of the pendulum axis 73 and provided with a throttle 90 at the cover end.
In the remote part of the pendulum axle 73, a second longitudinal bore 91 is provided which is closed by a radial bore 92 to an annular groove 93 pierced in the cover bearing. The annular groove 93 is verbun via a bore with a barrier oil line 70 the. Through several bores starting from the longitudinal bore 91, the barrier oil also gets into annular grooves 95 which are screwed into the pendulum axis 73 on both sides of the bore 85. The barrier oil in the annular grooves prevents fuel from entering the connector 14 and at the same time lubricates the running surface of the sleeve 80.
If the interior of the air separator is sufficiently filled with fuel, the float 81, due to its buoyancy, is in the position shown with the sleeve 80 in which its bore 84 is not connected to the bore 85 of the pendulum axle, so that the tubes 87 and 83 are not connected to the longitudinal bore 86 in the pendulum and therefore also not connected to the air discharge.
If so much air collects in the upper part of the interior that it pushes the fuel level down more and more, the float with the fuel level also sinks downwards while the bushing rotates at the same time until the bores 84 and 85 come into contact . Here the openings 88 of the cross tube 87 are always higher than the fuel level, since the float does not immerse into the fuel up to these openings.
As a result, the air space in the air separator is connected to the Luftabführ line 10a, and the air flows into the suction pipe 5 of the machine. The float is raised again by the inflow of new fuel and the sleeve 80 is rotated so that the connection finite with the air discharge pipe is interrupted again.
As a result of the throttle 90, the pressure in the air separator cannot fall below the pressure desired in the suction chamber of the injection pump when the inift discharge line is opened.
If the machine tilts, e.g. B. when turning on the side, the axis of rotation of the pendulum is inclined or even perpendicular to the fuel level in the housing.
Then the respective lower opening 88 in the cross tube 87 is through, the ball 89 is closed, so that no fuel can get through this opening into the tube 83. Since these stel lungs are only temporarily taken who, the control effect of the pendulum and the buoyancy actuated sleeve 80 is only temporarily interrupted. However, even during this time, fuel is prevented from escaping through the transverse pipe 87 into the air discharge line, so that in every operating position of the machine only fuel-free air reaches the pipe 10a.
In the conveyor system according to FIGS. 5 to 8, two fuel reservoirs 3 are seen before, one of which is out of operation. Each feed pump 4 is connected to both storage tanks 3 by a branching line 4a. With remote-controlled taps H, each storage container can be connected to a feed pump from one branch of the suction line. An air separator 6c is connected via the connection piece 18 to the common pressure line 5 of the two feed pumps.
The housing llc of the air separator 6e is divided by a partition 96 into two chambers 97 and 98, of which the chamber 97 is used to separate the air carried by the fuel, which is passed into the chamber 98, where any fuel particles still entrained are deposited will. The fuel, which has been freed of air, is conveyed from the prechamber 97 through the connection piece 15 and the line 7 to the injection pump.
The air freed from the fuel in the chamber 98 goes through the connecting piece 14 arranged in the middle of the air separator and the line 10a into the intake pipe S of the machine, while the fuel separated from the air in the chamber 98 passes through a connecting piece 99 and the Pipe 7a is derived into the overflow line, which feeds it back to the suction line 4a of a feed pump.
The pendulum 100 arranged in the antechamber 97 is mounted on the one hand in the partition 96 and on the other hand in the cover 101 of this chamber. In the dividing wall between the chambers, a radial bore 102 is arranged, which on the one hand is connected to the supply line 5 and, on the other hand, opens into an annular space 103 provided on the pendulum and closed off by the dividing wall 96. The fuel is passed from this annulus via a pipe 104, which is attached to the pendulum 105, which always remains set in approximately the same position to the outside, so that the fuel freed from air from the lower part of the chamber 97 through Holes in the pendulum can flow.
If the feed pumps deliver air or fuel containing bubbles, the gases collect in the upper part of the chamber 97 and flow via the cross pipe 106 into the pipe 107 to the longitudinal bore 108 in the pendulum axis and then pass through a partition 96 </ B> penetrating bore 109 in the chamber 98.
In this chamber is also a Pen del 110 with the pendulum weight 112 angeord net, the pin on the one hand in the partition wall 96 and on the other hand in the cover 111 of the chamber 98 are mounted. On the axis of the pendulum a sleeve 113 is rotatable, the offset in the longitudinal direction contains two oppositely directed radial bores. At one hole, a tube 114 is closed with a float 115, which keeps the mouth of the tube 119 always above the fuel level.
In the same radial plane in which that upper bore opens into the running surface of the sleeve 113, a transverse bore 116 is provided in the axis of the pendulum 110, which opens into a longitudinal bore 117 of the pendulum axis. The longitudinal bore 117 leads at the end of the pendulum pin mounted in the partition 96 into a space which is connected to the air drainage device 10a by a channel 1, 18 provided with a throttle 120 in the partition wall.
In the other bore of the sleeve, a tube 121 is attached, which is thus directed opposite to the tube 114 in the chamber 98 protrudes. In the radial plane of this tube, a radial bore 122 is arranged in the pendulum axis, which is connected to the connection piece 99 of the line 7a in the cover 111 through a longitudinal bore 123 provided with a throttle 124.
The pipe 7a leads into the overflow line 5a of the feed pump. A plurality of grooves 125 turned into the pendulum axis are connected via a longitudinal bore in the pendulum axis to a barrier oil line 126 connected to the cover.
Air, contaminated with fuel, passes out of the chamber 97 via the cross tube 106, the tube 107 and the bores 108 and 109 into the chamber 98. The air separates from the fuel. When the fuel level is low, the float is tilted downward, as shown in FIG. 7, the mouth of the air discharge pipe 114 always being above the fuel level. When reaching a certain fuel level, the air discharge pipe 114 is connected to the boring 116 and the longitudinal bore 117 of the pendulum, so that the air flows through the bore 118, the throttle 120 and via the connector 14 through the pipe 10a into the intake pipe S of the machine can escape.
In this position of the float, the pipe 121 does not dip into the fuel, and the sleeve 118 closes the bore 122 for the fuel outflow through the pipe 7a.
If the fuel rises in the chamber 98, the sleeve 113 closes the bore 116 and keeps it closed even if the level continues to rise. For this purpose, the tube 121 dips into the fuel level as the sleeve 113 is turned further, and when it overlaps the bore 122 (FIG. 8), the fuel flows through the longitudinal bore 123, the throttle 124 and the connector 99 of the Pipeline 7a after the suction side of the feed pump.
The outflow of fuel-free air and air-free fuel to the derivatives 10a and 7a is respectively 120 by throttles. 124 so throttled that the opening of these discharge lines does not lead to a drop in the pressure in the chamber 97 of the air separator and thus in the suction chamber of the injection pump below a certain pressure.
