La fig. 1 est un plan d'une lame de faucheuse, telle que fabriquée par ladite forme d'exécution ; la fig. 2 est une coupe par II-II de fig. 1 ; la fig. 3 est un plan de la face inférieure de l'ébauche de cette lame et la fig. 4 est une vue partielle en élévation, à plus grande échelle ;
Machine for working the teeth of mower blades.
The object of the present invention is a machine for working the teeth of mower blades, intended to make, on one of the faces of each tooth blank and along the edges where the cutting edges will be located, parallel striations which , the cutting edge made, form slight saw teeth on it.
This machine is characterized by a tool driven by a reciprocating movement and by an endless chain which carries a row of frames, in each of which can be placed a tooth and which passes each frame under the tool which then produces streaks on the tooth.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the present invention.
Fig. 1 is a plan of a mower blade, as manufactured by said embodiment; fig. 2 is a section through II-II of FIG. 1; fig. 3 is a plan of the underside of the blank of this blade and FIG. 4 is a partial elevational view, on a larger scale;
Fig. 5 is a front elevation of said embodiment and FIG. 6 side elevation; figs. 7 to 11 show details.
As is known, mower blades are usually formed by teeth or "sections" 1 (see Fig. 1) of generally triangular shape; each tooth comprises a head 2, by which the teeth are fixed one after the other on the same bar of the mower and two cutting edges? obtained by making a bevel 4 on two opposite edges of the upper face of the tooth. In some mowers, the cutting edges 3 have a slight serration 5, inclined so as to allow the entry into an entredent of the blade of the rods to be cut, while preventing them from coming out of the inter-tooth, when the cutting work is carried out.
This toothing 5 is usually obtained in the following way: before the cutting is done, we practice (see fig. 3 and 4) on the underside of the tooth, and along its two edges, small striations 6 parallel to each other; this work is known in the trade under the name of .. mowing "of the tooth: after which. we practice on the upper face the two bevels 4 and the meeting of the plane of these with the striations of the lower face @ gives serration. "). shown in fig. 1.
The object of the embodiment described is precisely to perform the mowing of the tooth. It comprises a chisel 7. fixed to the lower end of a rod 8. slightly inclined to the vertical and which can slide in two cross members 9 of the frame (see. In particular. Fig. 7 which is a cut by
VII-VTT of fig ..)).
The rod 8 is subjected to the action of a spring 10 which constantly tends to push it downwards and carries a collar 11 on which acts the cam 15 comprising two diametrically opposed teeth fixed to the motor shaft 13. : this carries the two usual fixed and idle pulleys 14 and can be engaged by means of the clutch pedal 15. Each time a tooth of the cam 12 passes under the collar II. it lifts the chisel 7 which. immediately after. under the action of the spring 10 falls and makes a cut in the tooth placed below it.
16 are two endless chains. guided by rollers 7 and driven by a wheel 18. receiving its movement from the shaft) 3 by a transmission device which will not be described in more detail. These chains carry pairs of plates 19 fixed by their lower part to a link of a chain and. by their upper part to a frame 20.
All these frames, arranged one after the other along the chain. pass over a support 21. along which they are guided in slides 22: in each frame is fixed, by screws 23. a plate 24. in which is made an opening 25 capable of receiving a mower tooth (see. in particular Figs 8 to 11 (Fig. 9 being a plan of the frame seen from above, Fig. 10 a section through XX of Fig. 9 and Fig. 11 an elevation of said frame). Below the opening 2) is an anvil 26.
Formed of a cast iron base 27 and a steel part 28 which can slide longitudinally on a table 29, via the rollers 30 and that counterweight 31 always tends to bring it back to the front end of the table. On the front edge of each frame are fixed studs 32.
33 and 34, in which is engaged a shaft 3, *) around which the flap 36 arranged between the studs 32 and 33 can rotate.
On the left side, each frame has two ramps. one horizontal 37 and the other vertical 38 each having a depression 3 '). respectively 40, at the height of the opening 25. 4] is a latching lever mounted on the frame by means of a pin 42 which can slide in a small groove 43 of this frame.
At its lower end, this lever 41 carries a ball bearing 44 resting by the weight of the lever on the ramp 37 and a heel 45 which the spring 46 presses against the ramp 38. Finally (see in particular FIG. 7). 47 is a pressure lever rotatably mounted on the frame at 48. its lower part provided with a roller 49 and placed under the action of a return spring 50. fixed between its upper end and the frame.
The worker being placed in front of the machine, when the chain brings a frame in front of him, he lifts the shutter 36, places a tooth 1 in the opening 25 in the position shown in solid lines in fig. 9, then let the shutter 36 fall. An instant later, the latter passes under the roller 49 which exerts pressure on it, momentarily closing the plate 24 with the anvil 26, which is driven with the frame to the against the counterweight 31; then the frame passes under the chisel 7 which makes a series of ridges along the edge 1a of the tooth.
As soon as this work is finished, the roller 49 leaves the shutter 36; the latter, no longer pressing on the plate 24 and on the tooth. the anvil 26 is bound and, under the action of its counterweight, returns to position itself at the front of your machine under a new frame: on the other hand, as soon as the anvil returns. tooth 1 no longer being held, can fall through funnel 51.
Between the teeth of two successive frames, there is a space ō the chisel 7 must not make grooves; it is to achieve this result without stopping the machine that the clutch lever 41 has been provided; in fact, when the edge 1 is under the chisel, the ball bearing 44 and the heel 45 of this lever are located in the depressions 39 and 40 and its upper end is below the collar 11 fixed on the chisel and sideways . When the striation is finished, the heel 45 comes out of the depression 40, which brings the upper end of the lever 41 below the collar, then the ball bearing 44 comes out of its depression 39, which causes the end to rise. upper lever 41 which slightly lifts collar 11 and disengages it from cam 12.
When in this way we have ridged one edge of a large number of sections, we take these sections to scratch the other edge. For this purpose, each plate 24 is separated from its frame. turn it upside down and fix it again in the frame; the shaft 35 is pulled out of the studs 32, 33 and 34, then the shutter 36 is placed between the studs 33 and 34 and the shaft 35 is again engaged in the studs and in the shutter; finally, it is also necessary to change the position of the pressure lever 47 which is placed on the right of the chisel, while it was before on the left, so that it again presses against the shutter 36. In this way, the the other edge of each plate will again occupy position la ,. We could also provide two machines, one for each edge of the plate.
