Conductor with bead insulation and method of making the same. The present invention relates to a conductor with bead insulation and a method of making the same.
In the previously known conductors with pearl insulation, as they are, for. B. were used for Hocbfre- frequency cables and the like, the insulation consisted of beads provided with a bore made of ceramic materials or the like, through which the conductor was pulled so that the beads could move freely on the conductor.
As a result, there was no guarantee that the desired distances would be maintained, in which the pearls could slide freely on the ladder, so that the same places, lying close to one another, formed a so-to-speak closed insulating layer, while in other places there were again such large gaps that it was practically impossible to speak of insulation of the conductor at all.
These disadvantages are now eliminated according to the invention in that the insulating beads consist of a thermoplastic synthetic material and are pressed so tightly on the conductor at intervals that they cannot move by themselves.
The method for producing this conductor provided with bead insulation according to the invention consists in that the insulation beads are pressed onto the conductor running through the mold in the injection molding process.
As a material for the pearls, for. B. Trolit, Trolitul or a similar synthetic resin can be used. .
The advantage here is that the insulating beads sit on the conductor with such a strong clamping that they cannot move by themselves, so that the distances between them are always maintained with certainty. This type of production is also simpler and more effortless than stringing drilled beads on the conductor. Thanks to the use of beads made of synthetic resin or material of similar composition and the assured regularity of the distances between the individual beads, such an insulated conductor can be used for a flexible cable which, as required for high-frequency cables, has a low capacitance.
An embodiment of the subject invention is shown in the drawing and an example of the manufacturing method of the conductor with pearl insulation will be described with reference to the same.
To produce the conductor with pearl insulation, a bare conductor is drawn through the shape of an injection molding machine for processing thermoplastic masses and a number of pearls 2, z. B. made of Trolitul, pressed on, so that they sit on the head 1 at regular intervals. Then the same is pulled a corresponding distance out of the mold and the next series of pearls is pressed on. Of course, with each piston stroke or. Form fit, only a single insulating bead can be pressed on.
The pressed-on insulating beads contract when they cool down and then sit on the conductor with the desired strong clamping so that they can no longer move by themselves. The insulating beads can either be spherical, as shown, or else egg-shaped, cylindrical or some other shape.
