Installation to stimulate plant growth in cold soil. The present invention relates to an installation for stimulating the growth of plants in cold soil, characterized in that the cultivation area is provided with at least one body provided with heating means and the mass of which constitutes a heat accumulator, this body being arranged so as to radiate heat towards the cultivation area.
These hot rays are not intended to heat the air they pass through, but the objects they encounter on their way. It has been proven by tests that the use of this installation obviates the need to place the crops in glass greenhouses and, if these greenhouses are used, the need to heat the air in them, particularly at vicinity of the ground.
Some embodiments of the installation according to the invention are shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing.
Figs. 1 and 2 show, respectively in vertical section and in plan view, an embodiment of the installation for stimulating the growth of small plants and flowers. 1 designates the heating bodies aligned along the cultivation areas so as to constitute vertical walls. Each body 1 has at the top at least one extension 2 overhanging part of the cultivation area. Some of the bodies 1 have at the top two extensions 2 overhanging the cultivation area on each side and others have in addition to the upper extension a second extension 2 at mid-height. Each body 1 is made of concrete and reinforced by means of heating pipes 3.
These metal pipes 3 are arranged in the bodies 1 on the side of the surfaces thereof which radiate heat towards the cultivation areas. By giving the bodies 1 the desired heights, it is possible to treat various species of plants 7 and 8. The heating pipes 3 terminate at the inlet and outlet pipes 4 of the hot water circuit and are provided with taps. or control valves 6, the pipes of the different bodies being interconnected by couplings 5.
As the middle walls must radiate heat to the rows of plants on both sides of these walls, the heating pipes are provided at both sides of the bodies of these walls in the vicinity of the surfaces thereof, while, for the two end walls, these pipes are provided only on the internal surface of the bodies. -The heating bodies 1 forming the walls could also be equipped for their heating with metallic heating elements traversed by electric current, these elements being placed in the bodies on the side of the surfaces thereof which radiate heat towards the elements. cultivation areas.
In fig. 3 is given in cross section an embodiment of the installation for low plants 8, for example cabbages. As here the bodies 1 form relatively thin walls, for the vertical part of the bodies we can limit ourselves to a single row of pipes 3, in the middle.
Fig. 4 shows one embodiment of the installation for the treatment of plants 7 with high stems.
Fig. 5 shows an embodiment of the installation for the treatment of bucket trees and shrubs, such as for example lilacs, the flowers of which must be protected from heavy rains, snow squalls, plunging winds and hail. This installation comprises for this purpose a small glass roof 11, arranged above the vertical wall formed by the heating body 1. This installation further comprises a concrete block 10, provided with metal heating pipes 3a, and buried in the ground at the foot of the body 1. 12 designates the additional reinforcement of the concrete body 1 constituting the vertical wall and 13 designates the wall against which this wall is leaned.
The wall has at the top an extension 2 overhanging part of the cultivation area for the heat radiation from above. The wall formed by the body 1 is provided with longitudinal metal heating pipes 3.
Figs. 6 and 7 each show, respectively, in perspective and in transverse vertical section, two other embodiments of the installation in which the heating body 1 has the shape of a box open from above, surrounding the cultivation area. These installations are intended for the cultivation of extremely sensitive flowers (fragile, these flowers being protected on all sides from the direct influences of bad weather. The heating takes place by means of the pipes 3 placed in the body.
In the installation according to fig. 7, a concrete base 10 is further provided, buried in the ground and provided with 3cc heating pipes. In fig. 8, there is shown an installation in which the cbauffants bodies form a radiating wall for climbing plants or espaliers, for example for vines.
In the embodiments of FIGS. 6 and 7, the body can be covered, as known, with a glass roof. For this purpose, one of the walls is higher than the opposite. Figs. 9 to 12 show the embodiments of the installation arranged in greenhouses. Each of these installations further comprises heating bodies arranged along the edges of the culture area, heating bodies constituting a wall 14 arranged horizontally above the culture area. The bodies of this wall contain, like the others, pipes or other hollow bodies in which a heating fluid circulates.
The lower surface of this wall is preferably shaped so that the radiation which it emits is distributed suitably on the plants; finally, this additional wall extends only over a small area, so as not to cast shade on the plants. In the installation according to fig. 9, the culture area is surrounded by a wall formed by heating bodies 15 arranged vertically and containing heating pipes 3. The heating bodies of the wall 14 are crossed by metal pipes 3 through which the heating fluid flows. The topsoil 16 of the cultivation area rests on a concrete base 10 provided with heating pipes 3.
The heating bodies 15 are made of concrete as are those of the wall 14 and are provided with a lique metal frame 17.
As is already known for gardening layers of the type shown, there is a central partition 18 which, in this particular case, does not contain any heating pipe, but which obviously could receive one. This partition supports the radiating wall 14.
On the edges of the wall 14 come to rest the frames 19 provided with panes and resting, on the other hand, on the bodies 15. The wall 14 is wide enough to serve as a path and strong enough to support the weight of the men engaged in. the operation of the layer or greenhouse.
Finally, the lower surface of the wall 14 comprises not only a horizontal part, but also oblique parts following a determined profile, convex for example so that the radiation which it emits is distributed over the objects to be heated.
It should be noted that the surface of the horizontal wall 14 is relatively small compared to the glazed surface of the frames, so that it only prevents a small fraction of light from entering the layer and does not form a shadow. on plants or objects to be heated.
The installation according to fig. 10 is self-explanatory and is designed according to the construction shown in FIG. 9; 20 denotes the stepped supports for the pots or culture trays. The heating pipes 3a are also provided in the greenhouse floor.
Fig. 11 shows a double greenhouse, of the type of that of FIG. 10, while in fig. 12, the additional wall 14 is disposed above a pit 21 formed in the floor of the greenhouse.
