Lyllagnetisbaren alloy with high and constant in a large field strength range constant initial permeability, as well as process for their production: Although the use of iron-aluminum alloys for magnetic purposes, for example for uniform loading of communication lines, has been proposed, such alloys have been proposed be able to introduce neither high-voltage nor low-voltage technology.
The well-known investigations carried out on iron-aluminum alloys with an aluminum content of 0.5 to 10.5% showed that these alloys had large hysteresis losses and only had a relatively low permeability with small fields , especially initial permeability. The iron-aluminum alloys proved to be far inferior to the known iron-silicon alloys.
The invention is based on the knowledge that the magnetic properties of iron-aluminum alloys can be improved by choosing a particularly low carbon content of the alloy.
Accordingly, the invention relates to a magnetizable iron alloy with a high initial permeability which is constant over a large field strength range and which contains up to 10% aluminum and less than 0.018% carbon. The alloy can also contain up to 2% copper.
Particularly good magnetic properties are achieved with alloys with 0.2% to 10% aluminum and less than 0.08 carbon, preferably with 0.5 to 5 aluminum and less than 0.04% carbon.
With the addition of copper, the alloys with 0.3 to 5% aluminum, 0.3 to 27o copper and less than 0.0855o carbon, in particular with 1 to 217o aluminum, 0.5% copper and less than 0.0 , 4.% carbon is characterized by good magnetic values.
The method for producing a magnetizable iron alloy with a high initial permeability that is constant in a large field strength range is characterized in that an iron alloy containing up to 10% aluminum and less than 0.08% carbon is below the magnetic transition temperature is annealed. The best values are achieved at temperatures between 400 and <B> 750 '</B> C.
It has proven to be advantageous to carry out the annealing in an atmosphere which is low in carbon or in an atmosphere which reduces the carbon content of the alloy; the alloy is expediently annealed in hydrogen.
While the iron-aluminum alloys investigated so far with considerable carbon content on average achieved an initial permeability of 2-00, in the most favorable case of 348, iron-aluminum alloys with a low carbon content were treated after thermal treatment <B> 650 '</B> and then slow cooling down the following values were measured:
EMI0002.0024
Aluminum <SEP> permeability <SEP> permeability
<tb> salary
<tb> at <SEP> 0 <SEP> Gauf
<tb> at <SEP> 0.1 <SEP> Gauf
<tb> 1 <SEP> 0/0 <SEP> 625 <SEP> 640
<tb> 1.50 / 0 <SEP> 670 <SEP> 700
<tb> 4 <SEP> 0/0 <SEP> 770 <SEP> 800
<tb> I The measurements were taken on toroidal cores made of strips about 0.1 mm thick. The maximum permeability of the iron alloy containing 1% aluminum is at a field strength of 1.5 Gauss and is 4000. The coercive force of this alloy is 1.25.
On an iron alloy containing 2% aluminum, an initial permeability of 640, a maximum permeability of 3900 and a coercive force of -1.0 were measured after annealing for 21/9 hours at 650 0 under hydrogen and subsequent slow cooling.
In addition, it has proven to be expedient to carry out the intermediate annealing at 6e50 to <B> 800 '</B> under hydrogen, which is necessary in the production of the alloys in sheet metal, strip or wire form for better machinability.
The fact that exceptionally good values are achieved even at relatively low annealing temperatures is of particular advantage in the manufacture of magnetic bodies that are more likely to be magnetic, in which the thermal treatment must take place after the shaping.
The alloys can therefore be used with great advantage for the production of Krarupadern, since it is known that the copper wire is very easily brittle when higher annealing temperatures are used.
If iron-aluminum alloys according to the invention are used for the Krarupadern, to which copper can be added, it is not necessary, for example, to use deoxidized copper for the copper conductor or to use any other means that prevent the copper conductor from becoming brittle prevent. Furthermore, under certain circumstances, those additional funds that aim to
to create cavities between the copper conductor and the load sheath in order to avoid mechanical stresses on the load material during the annealing treatment.
Another great advantage of alloys with a low carbon content is that they can be easily processed mechanically. This plays an important role in the production of very thin ribbons and wires, such as those used in particular for the production of Krarupa.dern.
The low-carbon iron-aluminum alloys with an aluminum content of 0.5 to 5% are particularly suitable for this. where cold processing is sufficient. An experiment showed, for example, that around a 0.4 mm thick round wire made of an iron alloy containing 2:% aluminum.
To roll down to a baud of 0.0-5 mm thick, two rolling processes are required, while five rolling processes are required to produce an equally thin strip from an iron-silicon alloy.
The production of thin strips or wires from alloys according to the inven tion is therefore significantly more economical, or in other words, you can now produce significantly thinner strips at the same cost and thus achieve significantly lower eddy current losses.
The investigations showed: that the iron-aluminum alloys according to the invention still have relatively high initial permeability even after severe mechanical deformation. If, for example, a 0.8 mm thick strip made of an iron alloy containing 2% aluminum is wound in the annealed state on a conductor with a diameter of 1.8 mm, the initial permeability is still in the order of magnitude of about 200.
An alloy of <B> 1.5% </B> aluminum, 1% copper, remainder iron with less than <B> 0.08% </B> with an initial permeability of 69 in the cold-worked state resulted in a heat treatment of <B> 650 '</B> the following values:

<B> <U> ss <SEP> o, '<SEP> ss </U> </B> <U> <SEP> 1,5 <SEP> B, <SEP> Ho </U>
<tb> 3,5,5 <SEP> 400 <SEP> <B> 3 </B> 100 <SEP> 7350 <SEP> 1.0 An alloy of 2% aluminum, 0.5 copper with an initial permeability of 60 In the cold-worked condition, annealing in hydrogen gave the following values:
EMI0003.0032
<I> <U> ss <SEP> o </U> </I> <U> <SEP> <B> ss <SEP> o, '</B> <SEP> N <SEP> 1,5 < SEP> B, <SEP> Ho </U>
<tb> 680 <SEP> 690 <SEP> 2.840 <SEP> 7100 <SEP> 1.2 An alloy of @ 3 @% aluminum and 0.5% copper with an initial permeability of 74 in the cold worked state resulted after annealing at 650 the following values:
EMI0003.0039
<B> <U> N <SEP> 0 <SEP> N <SEP> o, 1 <SEP> N <SEP> 1,7 <SEP> B, <SEP> He </U> </B>
<tb> 450 <SEP> 485 <SEP> 4560 <SEP> 11200 <SEP> 1.3 An alloy of 3:% aluminum and 10 copper with an initial permeability of 69 in the cold-worked state resulted after annealing at about <B> 650 '</B> the following values:
EMI0003.0046
<U> NO <SEP> No, l <SEP>, u2,0 <SEP> B, <SEP> He </U>
<tb> 410 <SEP> 440 <SEP> 3200 <SEP> 9500 <SEP> 1.4 As the information on the above alloys show, another advantage of the alloys according to the invention is that in the area of low field strength, the permeability increases very little.
Finally, the alloys also have the advantage that they can only be wound into Krarup ladder form as a load material after annealing and still give considerable values of permeability. The initial permeabilities are still relatively high after major changes in shape.
The iron-aluminum hedges according to the invention with a possible copper content of up to 2.% can be used with advantage both in low-voltage and high-voltage technology, for example for armoring low-voltage cables that counteract: high-voltage interference. should be protected.
