Process for the production of a material with high initial permeability and low change in permeability in the area of weakly magnetizing fields. It has already been pointed out that the addition of aluminum to iron improves the magnetic properties in the same way as the addition of silicon. However, it was found that the improvements obtained by adding aluminum are less than those found with the addition of silicon.
In addition, these studies on iron-aluminum alloys have so far only been made with regard to the use of the material for dynamo and transformer sheets, i.e. for high-voltage engineering.
Compared to iron-aluminum, this has not yet found its way into light-current technology, which is mainly due to the fact that, as already mentioned, it is inferior to iron-silicon alloys from the point of view of high-voltage technology. It has been shown, however, that iron-aluminum alloys can be used with advantage in low-voltage technology after certain mechanical and thermal treatment, as described by the invention. So these alloys are very useful both for the armouring of telecommunications cables influenced by heavy current and for shielding purposes to increase the crosstalk attenuation.
Furthermore, these alloys can be used to advantage where, with relatively high permeability, a slight increase in permeability in the area of weakly magnetizing fields is important, for example in the case of transmitters.
The inventive method for producing a material with high initial permeability and low change in permeability in the area of weakly magnetizing fields from an iron-aluminum alloy with 0.5 to 7% aluminum is characterized in that the material to the finished size with , a degree of deformation of more than 25% and then finally annealed at a temperature between 900 and <B> 1100 '</B> C.
Those products have proven to be particularly suitable in which the cold deformation is carried out with a degree of deformation of about <B> 60% </B>. and which were slowly cooled down after the final annealing. The cooling rate is expediently chosen so that the cooling from the annealing temperature to 400 ° C. takes at least one hour.
In general, the same magnetic properties are achieved if the final annealing carried out according to the invention at high temperatures is immediately preceded by a thermal treatment at 500-700 ° C.
To increase the 1 "speech attenuation in telecommunication cables, iron-nickel alloys, which are characterized by a high initial barrier resistance, have been used as shielding material. As the table below shows, iron-aluminum alloys are used - nium alloys, if they are treated according to the method according to the invention,
Due to its relatively high initial permeability, it is also a useful material for shielding purposes. The values given in the table were achieved with a degree of cold rolling of <B> 60% </B>.

<tb> 1.5ö <SEP> 980 "<SEP> 11 <B> 1 </B> <SEP> H., <SEP> 720 In FIG. 1, one hour is one hour for one at 1000 C in the presence of hydrogen Long-annealed iron-aluminum alloy with 1.5901 'aluminum, the relationship between permeability and magnetizing field strength for different degrees of cold-rolling deformation preceding the final annealing is shown.
Here, curve a relates to a degree of rolling of 25%, curve b to a degree of rolling of 60% and curve c to an 85% degree of rolling. In addition, the same relationships are shown after a bending deformation of the tape, which was caused by winding it onto a cable, the tape thickness being related to the cable diameter as 1: 100. The permeability values corresponding to curves a, b and c after this bending deformation are denoted by a, <I> b '</I> and c'.
Particularly noteworthy is the magnetic behavior of sample b, which underwent a rolling deformation of 60% before the last annealing. With a relatively high initial permeability of ct "---- 880, the increase <I> 4 = </I> (, rc", 1-, u ") j, rr" is only 12.2%. In addition, the maximum permeability is comparatively low, as a result of which the curve has a very flat profile up to relatively high field strengths of about 2 Orsted.
Here, as a result of the bending deformation, the maximum permeability of sample 1) rises from about 1800 to 2500, while in sharp contrast to this, the maximum permeability of samples a and c is reduced in a known manner due to the bending deformation.
The small increase in permeability with a relatively high initial permeability is a property that is often to be striven for in magnetic materials and which has not yet been found in such a favorable manner.
In the examples given so far, the annealing was carried out in the presence of hydrogen. However, it has been shown that further improvements in the magnetic properties can be obtained by ensuring the presence of oxygen during the annealing. becomes.
As an example, the following table shows the values for the initial blocking ability, u "and for the percentage increase in permeability 4, u <I> o = </I> (ico, i-sso) / ico for an alloy with <B> 3.68 </B>% aluminum, remainder iron, specified, which is cold-rolled with a degree of deformation of 80% to a finished dimension of 0.1 mm in strip form and then at <B> 950 '</B> C a After annealing in the furnace, the workpieces were slowly cooled down in such a way that the temperature had dropped to 200 ° C after about four hours.

<tb> closed <SEP> air <SEP> 900 <SEP> 26
<tb> Air supply <SEP> 950 <SEP> 20 As can be seen from this, a. Annealing in the presence of hydrogen only reaches an initial permeability of 300 and for nitrogen of 650, while in the presence of air, that is to say of oxygen, the initial permeability to 900 respectively. even 950 rose. At the same time, an extraordinary improvement in their constancy in the area of weakly magnetic fields is achieved.
While the increase up to a field strength of 0.1 Örsted is still 150% with annealing in hydrogen, it is only 26 respectively in the presence of oxygen. even only 20%. As can also be seen from the table, the continuous supply of air produces even better results than if the material is kept in closed air during annealing.
The progress achieved by the invention can also be seen from FIGS. 2 and 3, in which the values for the initial permeability for three different tape thicknesses, namely those of 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3 mm quality and for their constancy depending on different types of treatment during and after annealing are recorded. Here, FIG. 2 relates to an alloy with 4.6% aluminum and FIG. 3 to one with 7% aluminum, the remainder being iron.
Both alloys were annealed for 1/2 hour at 910 o C, the annealing and the subsequent cooling were carried out in seven different ways, which are plotted one after the other on the abscissa of the figures. Treatment 1 relates to annealing in luminous gas and cooling in air, treatments 2 and 3 to annealing in hydrogen and cooling in water (2) respectively. in air (ä). In treatment 4, the annealing was carried out again in luminous gas, but the cooling took place slowly in the furnace.
The same cooling (furnace) is also the basis of the treatment 5, in which, however, the annealing was carried out in closed air, ie in the presence of oxygen. Treatment 6 also relates to annealing with the admission of air and subsequent cooling in air, while finally treatment 7 extends to annealing in the presence of manganese dioxide (Mn0z) and slow cooling in the furnace.
It should also be noted that in FIGS. 2 and 3, the solid lines connect the values of the initial permeability and the dashed lines those of the percentage increase in, y.
The figures clearly show that the first four types of treatment deliver exceptionally low values of, uo, which are between about 50 and 530 and very unfavorable, high values of the percentage increase in the initial permeability. In contrast, when an oxidizing agent is used, a strong improvement in both the initial permeability itself and its constancy is immediately achieved during the annealing, as can be seen from the values for treatments 5, 6 and 7.
The initial permeabilities themselves are very high, while their percentage increase in the range up to a field strength of 0.1 Orsted is low, that is, the constancy of the initial permeability in this range is correspondingly good.
A comparison of the values obtained for treatments 5, 6 and 7, which do not match, shows that achieving the desired effect depends in particular on the choice of the agent present during the annealing and not essentially on the type of subsequent cooling They differ significantly from each other, but only differ greatly from the values achieved by treatments 1 to 4.
However, as practice shows, when using an oxidizing atmosphere, care must be taken to keep the oxygen content so low that the material cannot scale. This can be achieved by embedding the annealing material between cleaned steel or iron filings when using a gas, for example air, and when using a solid substance such as brown stone, this oxygen-releasing agent is itself mixed with iron filings.
