Overtaking sign device with a sound receiver for vehicles. The overtaking sign devices on vehicles are often equipped with a sound receiver attached to the rear of the vehicle, which picks up the horn tones of the vehicle intending to get over and actuates an optical or acoustic signal when it is excited. Sound receivers built in the manner of a microphone are very sensitive to vibrations and for this reason they are usually placed on a springy mount.
As has been shown, however, the microphone is nevertheless influenced by strong vibrations occurring while driving, such that the signal for the driver is triggered.
According to the invention, this problem is eliminated in that the signal, under the influence of a delay, only responds to tone pulses whose duration has a minimum value. As a result, brief impacts and bumps that occur while driving and affect the Schallemp receiver can no longer trigger the signal.
Although these .Beats and shocks continue to shake the microphone and thereby increase the resistance of the microphone in a similar way as strong sound impulses of short duration, the signal can no longer be actuated by them because they are fixed by the delay Do not exceed the duration. Since the rupee signals given before overtaking are not given very briefly, but rather more persistently than usual, their effect on the signal is not affected by the delay.
In the drawing, three different embodiments of the subject invention are shown. It shows: Fig. 1_ a system with a mechanical delay, F ig. 2 shows a system with a thermal delay and FIG. 3 shows a system with an electrical delay. In. 1 denotes 5 a microphone attached to the rear wall of the vehicle, 6 a battery, 7 a transformer,
8 a rectifier and 9 a near the handlebar of the vehicle to be overtaken tool attached optical or acoustic: signal.
On the DC side of the rectifier 8 is the winding 10; connected to an electromagnetic relay whose armature 11 closes a contact 12 for the signal 9 when it is tightened. The armature 11 is connected to a damping piston 13 of an air piston brake, which delays the tightening of the armature. As a result, the contact 12 is only closed when the magnetization of the relay causing current pulses over a certain time he stretch.
When overtaking, as mentioned above, the horn tones are usually not emitted for a very short time, but drawn over a longer period of time. The delay device is therefore practically ineffective when the horns sounded for the purpose of overtaking, but prevents the relay from responding to other short-term impulses that affect the microphone, such as those that occur when driving.
Instead of the damping piston, another suitable mechanical delay can be used, for example a drive with a wind blade.
In the position shown in FIG. 2, the 5 to 9 and 12 designated parts of FIG. 1 are taken over. The winding 14 of a thermal relay is connected to the direct current side of the rectifier 8, which winding heats a metal strip 15. This bends when heated so that the contact 12 for the signal 9 is closed.
Since the bimetal strip requires a certain heating time until it has the curvature required to close the contact 12, the desired delay in the current connection to the signal 9 arises. Instead of the bimetal strip, a hot wire instrument can also be used, for example.
In the embodiment of FIG. 3, the parts marked 5-9 are like the same as in the execution form according to FIG. 1. With 16, 17 and 18 are three electromagnetic relays with electrical delay, for example by short-circuit windings, Copper rings or the like. The relay 16 has two windings 19 and 20 which magnetize the relay in the same sense.
The winding 19 is connected to the direct current side of the rectifier 8 and the winding 20 is parallel to the battery 6, in series with a push button switch 21, the contact 22 of the relay 18 and the off switch 25a - the windings of the two relays 17 and 18 are also parallel to the battery 6, namely the winding 17 in series with the switch 25a and the contact 23 of the relay -16 and the winding 18 in series with the switch 25a and the contact 24 of the relay 17. The signal 9 is in series with contact 22 of relay 18.
In the rest position shown, the winding 20 of the relay 16 is switched on and its contact 23 is therefore open. The other two relays 17 and 18 are not energized and as a result the contact 24 is open and the contact 22 is closed. The signal 9 is switched on.
When starting the system, the switch 25a, 25b is closed and the push button 21 is temporarily pressed down. In this case, the excitation of the winding 20 is interrupted and the relay 16 now closes its contact 23. As a result, the relay 17, which closes the contact 24, is excited, and as a result the relay 18, which opens the contact 22, is excited. This interrupts the circuits of the signal 9 and the winding 20.
If the microphone 5 is now excited, the winding 19 of the relay 16 is excited and the contact 23 is opened. This interrupts the circuit of the relay 17 and opens the contact 24. As a result, the circuit of the relay 18 is broken and the contact 22 is closed. Here, both the winding 20 of the relay 16 and the signal 9 is switched on. The winding 20 has the effect that the contact 23 remains open even after the rattle tones hitting the microphone have stopped until the driver depresses the pushbutton 21, by means of which a symbol (green lamp or the like) is conveniently attached to the back of the car at the same time ) is switched on for the following driver.
Since all three relays are provided with an electrical delay, it takes a certain time for the relay 18 to respond. Therefore, impulses of short duration which hit the microphone cannot activate the signal 9. The delay time can be about one second, for example. Since long-lasting horn signals are given before overtaking anyway, their effectiveness is not impaired by the delay device.
In the case of the system described last, the signal 9, as soon as it is switched on, remains in place until the push button 21 is pressed by the driver. In such systems, the delay device is particularly important to prevent the driver from being annoyed by frequent untimely switching on of the signal. A mechanical or thermal delay can also be used in these systems instead of the electrical delay.
