Description
Process for the production of a disinfectant. The invention relates to a method for producing a disinfectant from a xylenol. For the purposes of the invention, xylenol also includes pure xylenols and ssohxylenols and halogen xylenols, as well as mixtures thereof.
It is known that hresols and xylenols can be mixed with soaps to make them water-soluble and can then be used as disinfectants. It is also known. Adding saponin to certain disinfectants in order to increase their wetting properties, that is, to reduce their surface tension.
The aim of the invention is to use xylenol and utilize the action of saponin to produce disinfectant disinfectants which have a high disinfection effect and a long shelf life and which can be greatly diluted without impairing their effectiveness. This goal is achieved by dissolving at least one xylenol in an alcohol and intimately mixing this solution with a solution of saponin in water. It is advisable. slowly add the first-mentioned solution to the @saponin solution. and expediently drop by drop.
The two solutions mix completely with one another to form a clear or almost clear liquid. which does not separate even after long periods of storage. This liquid can be diluted with water. without separating. In this dilution, the liquid can be used as a disinfectant without any problems.
It is - of particular advantage that essential oils are soluble in the liquid obtained, the addition of which can make the liquid fragrant.
The following example is intended to facilitate understanding of the invention: 75 g of 1: 3: 5 xylenol and 25 g of 1: 3: 5: 2 chloroxylenol are dissolved in 200 cm 'of methyl alcohol. This solution is entered into a solution of 50 g of saponin in 800 cm 'What water with stirring. The stock solution obtained in this way can be diluted with water to 10 to 200 times its volume without the xylenol and (las halo xyleriol.
