Method and device for producing objects with surfaces having different radii of curvature, such as cams, in particular by grinding or milling. There are methods for producing cams by grinding or milling are known, in which to generate the feed movement of the cam rotates at a constant angular speed and a teaching cam is arranged on the axis of the cam to be produced, wel cher in the rotary movement for the generation the cam shape necessary radial or axial movement of the grinding wheel or milling cutter BEZW. the cam axis he testifies.
These methods have the disadvantage that the speed of the relative movement between the point of contact of the tool (milling cutter or grinding wheel) on the work piece and the work piece is subject to great fluctuations. This results in the following disadvantages: 1. The production time of the work piece is relatively long, as a certain feed rate is not exceeded: must and the angular speed of the cam must be selected accordingly.
Such a choice of a maximum angular speed results in a significantly reduced feed rate on the other surfaces of the cam to be machined, which is below the maximum allowable feed rate.
2. In places with a relatively low feed speed, the workpiece is heated strongly during grinding, so that soft spots arise when the cam is hardened.
3. The variable feed speed also creates an irregular pattern of the ground or milled cam surface.
The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for producing objects with surfaces having different radii of curvature, such as cams, in particular by grinding or milling, and aims to eliminate the disadvantages mentioned.
The method according to the invention consists in that the relative speed between the point of contact of the tool on the work piece and the work piece is kept constant or approximately constant. The constant or approximately constant relative speed is advantageously brought about by a corresponding setting: the angular speed of the workpiece. But it can also be brought about by setting the movement of the tool accordingly.
According to the invention, the device for carrying out the method is provided with means that keep the relative speed between the point of contact of the tool on the workpiece and the workpiece constant or approximately constant, it being advisable to change the angular speed of the workpiece to be processed to provide changing mechanism. This mechanism can have an organ in the form of a disk, for example, which can act on a transmission or the work machine itself by means of an auxiliary device.
An embodiment of the subject invention is shown schematically in the drawing.
Fig. 1 shows the kinetic coherences between the workpiece and the tool; Fig. 2 is a diagram of the relative speed v as a function of the angle of rotation a; Fig. 3 shows schematically the Ausfüh approximately example.
In Fig. 1, a is the workpiece, for example a cylindrical cam. b represents the tool, for example a grinding wheel.
In known methods, the relative speed between the cam a and the tool b remains constant within the concentric part 0-2 of the cam (Fig. 2). As soon as the tool reaches point 2, however, the relative speed suddenly increases sharply by the relative path of the contact point of the tool is equal to the distance 1-2 for an angle of rotation a on the concentric part of the cam, while the fol lowing Curve piece for the same angle of rotation a, the relative path is equal to the multiple times greater distance 2 = 3. Conversely, there is a strong reduction in the relative speed on the route 3-4.
The relative speeds in question are shown for one revolution of the cam a in FIG. 2 and have considerable fluctuations. By not exceeding a certain feed rate 'and is determined by the relative speed v .. of the cam, results for the by far largest part of the surface of the cam to be processed, too small a relative speed v, respectively. an angular speed that is too low Co.
It is now the angular speed of the cam, respectively. of the machine driving the cam in FIG. 3 is set such that the relative speed between the point of contact of the tool on the workpiece and the workpiece is kept constant or approximately constant. This takes place for a cam according to FIG. 1 in accordance with the speed profile of the curve shown in dashed lines in FIG. 2.
According to Fig. 3, the workpiece, for. B. a cam a, mounted on one of the drive machine g driven shaft c. This shaft is mounted in a displaceable support d and provided with a gauge cam e, which works together with a pressure roller h arranged on the shaft f of the tool, for example a grinding wheel b or a milling cutter. The drive device of the shaft f is not shown for the sake of simplicity.
The support d is movable and is set by a spring generating the force P in such a way that the pressure roller h always rests on the teaching cam. The drive machine g is driven in such a way that the relative speed between the point of contact B of the tool b and the workpiece a remains constant or approximately constant. The drive machine g is a hydraulic motor, and its speed is changed in that a control disk k corresponding to the shape of the work piece a acts on an auxiliary device s, for example a control element, which drives the from a conveyor device l to the drive machine g the line m ge long-term work equipment throttles more or less and thus changes the speed of the engine g.
Instead of having the adjustment made by the support d, the work piece can be given a constant rotating movement and the tool a pendulum movement about the axis of rotation of the work piece. Instead of regulating the energy supply by an auxiliary device k, s, a different type of regulation can take place in the case of a drive machine of another type, for example an electric motor or a steam or air turbine, as well as keeping the relative speed constant between the point of contact of the tool the work piece and the work piece can be effected by any transmission of known type.
A turning tool can of course also be used as a tool.
