Description

Additional patent to main patent no. 175680. Process for the production of a new sulfur dye. The present invention relates to the manufacture of a new sulfur dye.

According to the invention, we obtain a new, useful, brown-colored sulfur dye by sulphurising (e.g. by heating with sodium sulphide and sulfur) of 2-phenylamine-5-raphthol-7-sulphonic acid (phenyl-I-acid). A solvent, particularly glycol monoethyl ether, can be used with advantage in the sulfurization process.

Example: Sodium polystyrene is produced by melting together 30 'file sodium sulfide crystals and 8 parts of sulfur and evaporating it until the boiling point 170 ° C is reached. 50 parts of the monomethyl ether of ethylene glycol and 16 parts of sulfur are added to the cooled mass, the mixture is refluxed until complete dissolution is achieved and 13.5 parts of 2-phenylamino-5-naphthol-7-sulfonic acid are added then added.

After 12 hours of reflux, the mass is diluted with 200 parts of water and the product is dissolved by adding 25 parts of sodium sulfide crystals. The hot solution is filtered, further diluted and the dye by acidification, e.g. B. with sodium bisulfite liquor, precipitated.

After filtering, drying and grinding the product forms a black powder which dyes cotton from a sulphide bath in dark brown shades of excellent lightfastness and good resistance to bleaching.
