are, for example, the salts of the ester acids of aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic dicarboxylic acids, such as adipic acid, succinic acid, ethylene-a. s-dicarboxylic acids, phthalic acid, isophthalic acid, terephthalic acid,
substituted phthalic acids, such as chlorophthalic acids, hexahydrobenzenedicarboxylic acids, such as hexahydrophthalic acids, which are esterified with aliphatic, optionally substituted alcohols having at least 8 carbon atoms.
Such alcohols respectively. Substituted alcohols are, for example, the alcohols corresponding to the higher fatty acids, such as octyl, Iecyl, haurin, myristic, cetyl, octadecyl alcohol, or their mixtures, such as those obtained by reducing higher,
saturated or unsaturated or oxy group-containing fatty acids or their esters, such as coconut oil, castor oil and the like, can be won. Unsaturated higher alcohols, such as oleine alcohol or the alcohols from spermaceti oil, can also be used, as can alkylene glycols obtained, for example, by hydration of unsaturated alcohols, and also products obtainable by halogen addition onto unsaturated alcohols.
Also suitable are the alcohols that can be prepared from montan wax, and also those alcohols such as are obtainable by splitting waxes, for example beeswax, or by oxidizing paraffinic hydrocarbons. Secondary alcohols can also be prepared by reducing aliphatic ketones such as P.almiton, stearon, pentadecyl methyl ketone. The hydroxyl group can be primary, secondary or tertiary.
The carbon chain of the higher alcohols can also be interrupted by divalent atoms such as oxygen or sulfur. Such oxy derivatives are, for example, higher polyglycols, polyglycerols, diethylene glycol monobutyl ether, and substituted higher aliphatic alcohols such as castor oil or other esters of oxy fatty acids such as ethyl oxystearate can also be used.

EMI0002.0032
in which Y is bound to the radical A through the mediation of the oxygen atom, salts of the esters of aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic oxycarboxylic acids, such as glycolic acid, lactic acid, hexahydro-ogybenzo:
Acids, for example hexahydrosalicylic acid, oxybenzoic, oxynaphthoic acids, such as salicylic acid on the one hand and aliphatic, saturated or unsaturated or oxy groups or halogen atoms containing carboxylic acids with at least 8 carbon atoms on the other.
Examples of these esters include lauryl, palmityl, stearyl, oleyl glycolic acid, lauryl hexahydrosalicylic acid and palmityl salicylic acid.
For the preparation of the listed ester acids of aliphatic, eycloaliphatic or aromatic Dikarbon.säuren you can z. B. heat the corresponding anhydrides with the equivalent amount of the alcohol to be esterified, optionally in the presence of solvents such as benzene. You can also heat the free acids with the alcohols until the calculated amount of water is split off, optionally in the presence of esterification catalysts or of those substances which form azeotropic mixtures with water.
Partial hydrolysis of the associated neutral esters can in certain cases also lead to the acidic esters.
The acylation of the aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic oxycarboxylic acids can, for example, be carried out in such a way that the corresponding aliphatic acid halides are allowed to act on the oxycarboxylic acids, possibly in the presence of acid-binding agents such as pyridine.
The halogenated carboxylic acids corresponding to the oxycarboxylic acids can also be used. React their salts with salts of higher aliphatic carboxylic acids at a higher temperature, it may be useful to add catalysts that increase the reactivity of the halogen atoms, such as finely divided copper, copper sulfate and the like.
The auxiliaries mentioned can be added to the aqueous liquor in solid form or as aqueous solutions. The baths produced in this way are durable. They give the fibers treated with it, in particular the artificial silk made of regenerated cellulose or organic derivatives of cellulose, such as viscose, acetate and copper artificial silk, a full and smooth handle.
The products are easy to manufacture completely colorless and the baths made with them are therefore also suitable for undyed or light-colored textiles. Since the auxiliaries with acidic or neutral dyes do not give rise to any failures, they can be added directly to the dye bath, which can be made up with soft or hard water.
The textiles can also be treated with diluted solutions. The finishing baths described, which can also contain other suitable substances such as detergents or finishing compounds, have the further advantage that they: At the same time also have a high wetting and washing effect, Example Z:
Dissolve 0.004 parts by weight of the ammonium salt of the half-ester obtained by heating 74 parts by weight of phthalic anhydride with 128 parts by weight of the commercial mixture of hexadecyl and octadecyl alcohol in 30 parts by weight of hard water and add 0.02 parts by weight of direct sky blue greenish (ef. Schultz, dye tables, 7th edition, no. 510), and 0.3 parts by weight of crystallized Glauber's salt added.
A bath made in this way can be used to dye 1 part by weight of rayon rayon. After handling for one hour near the boiling temperature, the material is rinsed in ordinary water, spun out and dried. The goods treated in this way have a soft, flowing handle. Example 2: 0.005 parts by weight of the ammonium salt of the hexahydro-phthalic acid olein alcohol half-ester are dissolved in 30 parts by weight of water.
White viscose artificial silk, which has been treated with this liquor at a slightly elevated temperature for 0 minutes, then squeezed off and dried, has a soft, gliding handle.
The ammonium salt to be used can be prepared by heating 1 mol of H @ exahydro-phthalic anhydride with 1 mol of oleic alcohol to 165 and neutralizing with ammonia solution. The ammonium salt of the salicylic,
acid with stearic acid chloride in pyridine solution obtained stearylsalicylic acid for the production of the finishing bath.
