Safety lock. The object of the invention is a safety lock, characterized in that it comprises two bodies capable of being separated from one another, one of which constitutes the lock proper and the other a safety device of this lock, the latter device comprising a key remaining fixed therein and capable of sliding axially in order to be able to come into contact with the control members of the lock proper, this movement of the key not being however possible that if the rotating members arranged around this key each occupy a predetermined position.
The drawing shows a foc-me execution of the lock according to the invention, given by way of example.
Fig. 1 is an overall view of the lock, FIG. 2 a corresponding side view, FIG. 3 is a view similar to that of FIG. 2, on a slightly larger scale, the body constituting the safety device being seen in section; Fig. 4 shows the safety device seen from the rear and on the scale of FIG. 1; Fig. 5 shows, on a larger scale, a detail of one of the rotary members of this positive device, and FIG. 6 another detail.
The lock shown consists of two bodies, the lock proper 1 and a security device 2, held together by mounting screws 3.
The body 1 is a lock of a common type and the mechanism of which will therefore not be described in more detail. It is actuated by means of a key 4 ,. which is pushed for this purpose axially in the direction in which it enters the lock, this key comprising for this purpose a square 5 - intended to cooperate with a corresponding member of the lock 1.
The key 4 is permanently fixed in the safety device 2, being held there by a flange 6 bearing against an intermediate wall 7. In its largest position remote from the lock 1, the position shown in FIG. 3, the key cannot turn, three small fins 8 being engaged in as many radial notches regularly arranged around the axis of the key and in the front wall of the body 2. To be able to turn the key, it is therefore necessary push axially inside this body, so as to release the fins 8 from their notches and to penetrate with the square h into the actuating member of the lock 1.
This axial movement of the key is however only possible provided that three discs 9, each comprising a notch 10, occupy a position such that the three notches 10 allow the free passage of the fins 8. These discs 9 rotate under the action of the rotation of external control buttons 11, comprising for example on their periphery a series of numbers serving as markers, of which the set of those occupying a predetermined position when the key is released, constitutes the secret number of the lock.
Each button 11 is integral with a male toothed portion 12 located inside the body 2 and with which a female toothed portion of the corresponding disc 9 is engaged, this disc being hollowed out internally.
Behind each button is a screw 13 screwed into the button and comprising a flange 14 intended to clamp the disc 9 against the male toothed part 12, making these two members integral with one another. By loosening these screws, we can modify the secret number as follows: We loosen the screws until the flange 14 comes to rest against the intermediate wall 7. At this moment, the screws are not completely detached of their respective button 11, but the disks 9 can be withdrawn back by a sufficient quantity to no longer be engaged on the male toothed parts 12, on which it is then free to replace them after having made them perform any rotation intended to modify the position of the notch 10 with respect to the external signs marked on the buttons.
Tightening the screws 13, the discs 9 are returned to their normal position. To do this, it suffices to unscrew the screws 3 beforehand, so as to separate the two bodies from one another, these can be provided either so that the body 1 remains fixed to the object carrying the lock, the body 2 detaching from it, or vice versa.
The screws 13 could also have a knurled part inside, avoiding the use of a screwdriver to loosen them.
It is also obvious that the lock described could be provided only with two buttons 11 or on the contrary with a larger shadow of the latter.
Finally, the connection between the key and the lock itself can be done other than by means of a square.
