Serrure.
Lock. The various models of locks currently in existence can be reduced to three types: 1o the ordinary lock with a box projecting on the door, of unsightly appearance and easily removable for a break-in; 2o the so-called larding invisible lock which fits into a blind mortise made in the thickness of the door jamb and therefore is difficult to install and requires, as well as in the first case, the preliminary disassembly and the reassembly of the handles,
after fitting and installing cover plates to the keyways and handle pins; 3o the lock that is inserted in a cutout of the door post between clamping and fixing flanges and which is expensive to establish and. of complicated construction.
The lock that is the subject of the present invention can be attached to this third type, but it overcomes the drawbacks of this type of lock.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the. lock, object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a side view in section, along the axis 1--2 of FIG. 4, part of the lock. Fig. 2 is a front and exterior view of this same part.
Fig. 3 is a side view. Fig. 4 is a plan view. Fig. 5 shows on a small scale the transverse cutout of a door jamb to receive the lock.
Fig. 6 is an overall plan view of a lock according to the invention, placed on a door.
Fig. 7 is a longitudinal sectional view along the axis 3-4 of FIG. 6.
Fig. 8 is a side view corresponding to FIG. 6.
This lock consists of: A body a forming a yoke, the sides of which have an edge a1-42, forming a covering of the transverse cutout b of the amount e of the. door to equip.
The front face of the body has formed a flange in a2-al, intended to serve as a bearing surface against the thickness of the door pillar e, and for the passage of the screws d which provide the. body fixation a. This fixing in the axis of the thickness of the door e eliminates any fixing .on the sides and consequently makes disassembly impossible when the door is closed.
By construction, the spacing of the edges al-a 'serving as a covering corresponds to the minimum thickness. usual doors. The dif ference in thickness between the thinnest door and the door there.
thicker, not exceeding in practice 4 mm, the edges al-a2 will be, during assembly, embedded in the necessary quantity in the thickness of the door in the case of thicker doors. The sides of the yoke each form a boss a 'serving as bearing surfaces for a tube f carrying at each of its ends a handle g whose soot screw h ensures the fixing.
This arrangement of two fixed spans to center the tube f facilitates the use of said spans along a strictly rectilinear axis.
Each handle g is closed by a rotating thread i retained by a ring, j. Each rotary patch i is cut along the profile of a key k to allow passage of said key, the end of which, when closing, is introduced into a diametral slot formed at each end of a cylinder < I> l housed in the tube f and the central part of which It forms two flats which can be brought by means of the key k,
next to the pushers m whose rod passes through both the tube f and the hub of the nut n of the bolt o to press permanently either on the perimeter of the cylinder 1, or on the flats 11, by following the thrust exerted by a res sort q on the head of said pushers.
A stop ring p, centered on the tube f, is made integral with the body a by a tab pi entering a recess of the one-piece body a.
This stop ring p forms two diametrically opposed hollows p2, in which are intended to engage the heads of the two push-buttons m, under the thrust of the res out q, '. When the rods of said push-buttons engage. on the flats l1 of cylinder 1.
Another spring r ensures the return to the external position of the gene o, when said gene has been brought inwards by the operation of the handles, against the action of the spring r.
The operation of this lock is as follows: lo Apart from the use of the key k to act on the particular locking mechanism with a key, there is an ordinary lock known as a free bolt, operated by rotation of the handles which drag the tube f and, through it, the hub of follower n of gene o which is brought back inwards in the known manner, and pushed outwards by spring r.
2o With the key k, one causes the rotation of the cylinder t so that the flats l1 appear opposite the rods of the pous evenings m which, under the pressure of the spring q, can then move simultaneously towards the inside of an amount equal to the depth of the flats 11, which causes the heads of the tappets m to engage in the recesses p 'of the stop ring p and make solid the rotating assembly, handles, tube, cylinder and pushers, of the fixed ring p and, consequently, of the body a. It is then impossible to turn the handles and move the gene.
The lock thus described is easy to install on the post of a door; it is simple and one. safe operation.
