Description
Process for the preparation of a new cardiac active glucoside. The present method relates to the preparation of digitoxin and is characterized in that the acetyldigitoxin, which can be produced, for example, according to the method of patent no. 171237, is treated with sodium hydroxide solution.
Example: 0.2 gr acetyldigitoxin, which can be produced for example by the process of patent specification no. 171237, are dissolved in about 6% methanol. 10 em7 of a% sodium hydroxide solution is allowed to flow into this solution, swirled around and scratched with the glass rod. The acyl-free product soon begins to crystallize out. After two to three minutes, dilute with 20 cm3 of water and then filter quickly after another two minutes.
The residue is washed neutral with water and recrystallized from dilute alcohol. The preparation obtained in this way is identical to Digitoxin and should be used in therapy.
