Braking device for negative or positive pressure on vehicles. The present invention relates to a braking device for underpressure or overpressure on vehicles, the characteristic of which is that organs for attacking the pressure medium sit on a common brake rod in several chambers arranged one behind the other.
In the accompanying drawings, a vacuum brake device is shown as an example, namely: Fig. 1 is a longitudinal section and Fig. 2 is a front view of a housing part.
The housing encloses a number of chambers a, a ', a2, a', which are formed from a front cover 1, the housing parts 2, 3, 4 and the rear cover 5. The housing parts 2 , 3, 4 are double-plate-like so that they are put together with their flanges or edges of two and held together by screws or rivets 6. Each housing part has a main channel b, a secondary channel e, an air hole d and a central hole e.
The latter is widened and filled with a perforated felt disk 7 which is spanned by a spring steel ring 8. Each chamber is also penetrated by a partial rod 9 with a threaded extension 10, which is screwed into the adjacent partial rod in such a way that the diaphragm 11 serving as an engagement element for the pressure medium is firmly connected to the partial rod.
The front cover 1 has a bore f similar to the bores of the housing parts, which is also sealed by a felt washer with steel tape. The brake part 19 of the chamber a formed by the front cover 1 and the first part wall 2 is slightly longer than the rest and is connected to the brake pedal rod 13 by a lever 12 or any other mechanical connection. The lever 12 is used to actuate a control valve 14, which is attached to the front cover and essentially consists of a stamp 15, a membrane 16 and a pipe socket 17 with a pipe connection 18.
The membrane 16 divides the control valve housing into two chambers g and h, the latter of which communicates directly with the first chamber a through a hole. An angular channel k of the cover plate 1 leads from the chamber a to the main channel b, which is formed from the housing parts and leads through the secondary channels c to the chambers a ', a2, a3.
The rear cover 5 has a tubular extension 25 in which a joint head guide 24 for the joint head 23 of the brake rod 22 is.
So that the membranes 11 remain in the position shown in Fig. 1 while driving, a coil spring 20 is inserted into the chamber a. The upper sides of the cover parts 1 and 5 can be provided with bearing surfaces 21 in order to facilitate the fastening of the brake housing to the carriage frame. Instead of the membranes, pistons could also be net angeord in cylindrical chambers.
The method of operation of the device described is as follows: When the brake pedal rod 13 is mechanically pulled, the valve plunger 15 is moved in the pulling direction and the membrane 16 is lifted off the tubular socket 17. Through the suction line leading to a motor, compressor or vacuum reservoir of the vehicle, the air is sucked out of the chamber h through the pipe connection 18 and the chamber a is vented through the opening i, so that the membrane 11 of the foremost chamber flows through the Opening d moves in the direction of pull.
This movement is initiated and supported by the mechanical pull of the brake pedal rod 13 via the lever 12 onto the front end of the brake rod 19. The mechanical braking is thus ensured even if the vacuum braking effect should fail for any reason.
Since the channels k, b and c create a permanent connection between the chambers, the chambers a ', a2, a3 are also vented one after the other, so that all the membranes are exposed to the tensile effect involve the partial rods 9 connected to them. Should one of the Mem branes have become leaky, however, the vacuum braking effect in the other chambers is by no means canceled, since the diameter of the channels c in relation to the main line b is very small.
By arranging several brake chambers connected one behind the other, a large force effect can be achieved with a small cylinder diameter, and this can be adapted to the weight of the vehicle by increasing the number of chambers with appropriate dimensioning of the suction line. The brake linkage is hung with a joint head 23 in the guide 24 in order to compensate for deviations from the straight line during the Mon days of the braking apparatus.
By arranging the air access paths accordingly, the braking device can also be designed for overpressure. The brake pedal rod can be set up for pulling or pushing with a corresponding design of the control valve; the brake linkage can also act on tension or pressure. A pressure effect can be transmitted directly mechanically to the brakes or indirectly by acting on the piston of an oil pressure cylinder. Such an oil pressure cylinder can be built on one of the covers 1 or 5, so that it forms another chamber of the braking apparatus.
An automatic valve or a stop light switch can also be placed on one of the covers. On the other hand, the control valve can be designed as an independent body and connected by a line to the Bremsappa rat.
