L'objet de l'invention est caractérisé en ce qu'il est prévu des dispositifs indicateurs, qui sont .commandés de deux manières, sa voir: manuellement pour indiquer sur le pan neau indicateur un état particulier d'un dis positif interrupteur avant la man.ceuvre de ce dispositif;
Control panel for electrical energy distribution network. The present invention relates to <i. an improvement in the control panel for an electrical energy distribution network which is the subject of the main patent. In the object of the present invention, various constituent elements of the network, in particular switch or switch devices and their state are represented by symbols on an indicator panel and changes of state of these devices are indicated by corresponding changes. on this indicator panel.
The object of the invention is characterized in that indicating devices are provided, which are controlled in two ways, its see: manually to indicate on the indicator panel a particular state of a positive switch device before the operation of this device;
and automatically, subsequent to the operation of this device, to bring on the indicator panel a change corresponding to the new position of this switch device. An embodiment of the object of the present invention is shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawings.
Figs. 1 to 3 show schematically and by way of example the circuits and the apparatus used to select and act nerdes: cam control mechanisms of the step-by-step latching type, the windings of which are arranged so as to turn on or. to extinguish pilot lights on the control panel, of the network supervisor, and to operate circuits of the control equipment.
These snap-in relays and cir cuits using; from which they control the pilot lights. of the supervisor's control panel are shown schematically in fig. 4 and 5.
Fig. 0 represents circuits and devices - a type of control equipment that can be used in combination with the network monitor's control panel to command and control the operation of switching mechanisms located: remotely, from a control cabin for the network supervisor.
Figs. 7 and 8 schematically represent an automatic annunciator device signaling to the network supervisor the modifications which have occurred to the energy network, as soon as the indications -of changes of position are made visible by the signals representing the switching mechanisms.
The single line diagram shown in Figs. 7 and 8, part of which is also shown in FIGS. 4 and 5, is of the type using lamp signaling equipment consisting of lamp sockets capable of receiving two or more colored bulbs and preferably provided with molded glass lenses and representing the classic symbols of oil switches, circuit breakers, air switches, motor circuit breakers, generator transformers, etc.
When one of the colored lamps is on, the raised part of its glass lens is illuminated so as to indicate the position of the apparatus it represents or the state of that apparatus.
The entire facade equipment can be constituted by an assembly of these indicator light units and flat or stamped white escutcheons, which are arranged to be mounted on supports in the manner described in the main patent, which makes it possible to rearrange the equipment on the facade in the manner of a chessboard, to take into account changes and additions to the energy network shown by the single line diagram.
As will be explained later, the network monitor control table automatically indicates the effect produced by each operation of a switching unit on the entire system shown by the single line diagram, in addition to the Indication of the change in position of each switching unit.
Figs. 4 to 8 represent a small part of the single line diagram of the grid monitor control board. The legends in fig. 8 specify the type or function of switches and signals represented by the symbols in the single line diagram.
The indications used as signals on a grid control panel of this type depend, to a certain extent, on the type of energy grid to which this panel is assigned. In the practical execution of the object of this invention, the following Ue signals which are generally used for a network supervisor control board, employing a single line diagram of the network supervisor, however, will preferably be employed. type shown in the drawings.
1. When a generator symbol is lit solid red, the generator is plugged into the grid.
2. When the generator symbol is illuminated in amber, it indicates to the supervisor that generator power is available, but not being used.
3. When the generator symbol is black, ie unlit, the generator is switched off.
4. When a circuit breaker symbol is illuminated green, it indicates that the circuit breaker is open.
5. When the -circuit breaker symbol is illuminated red, it indicates that the circuit breaker is blocked.
6. When the circuit breaker symbol is not illuminated, the circuit breaker is closed.
7. A transparent white signal lamp with a green or dark symbol indicates an alarm or fault condition.
8. When a transformer symbol is lit solid red, it indicates the transformer is in action.
9. When the transformer group symbol is illuminated with an intermittent red light, this indicates that the transformer is connected to the network, but not transmitting energy.
10. When the symbol -of the transformer group is not illuminated, it indicates that the transformer group has been put to rest. 11. When the meter symbol is illuminated in amber, this indicates that the energy network is delivering current to the connected network.
12. When the meter symbol is illuminated in red, it indicates that the grid is receiving power from the interconnection.
1 . 3. When the line or bus bar symbol is illuminated in a solid red color, it indicates that the line or bus bar is receiving power.
14. When a line or bus bar symbol is illuminated by a red intermittent signal, this. indicates that the line or bus bar is not receiving current at the symbol location.
The above position signals and indicators will be described in detail in the following discussion: Returning now more specifically to FIG. 1, the keys K 'to K', as well as the call device CD are the only devices installed at the supervisor's station.
The rest of the equipment and circuits shown in Figs. 2 to 5, -and part of the equipment shown -in fig. 6 can be mounted on the supervisor's control panel, which is of course installed in the same room as the sur v ei Mant,
but is usually found ZD to a certain distance from its control panel and is arranged in a straight line or a semicircle, depending on the size of the painting.
Part of the equipment shown in fig. 6 is installed in a remote station and is connected to the supervisor's station by means of line conductors C, I, s' and CIYI. The equipment shown in fig. 6 is one of the types of monitoring equipment which can be advantageously employed on a supervisory monitor of the type which is described below.
Any other information transmission sys tem, however, which provided a means of controlling from a supervisor's office the operation of such switches, such as switches, could equally well be adopted. oil located at a remote station and transmitting to the supervisor's office an optical indication to indicate the.
position of these devices installed at a distance.
Figs. 7 and 8 of the -drawings schematically show the circuits and apparatus employed to provide warning indications on a single-conductor diagram, and the entire -symbol and -circuit arrangement from part of a diagram to single conductor representing an energy distribution network. The reinforced lines of fig. 7 and 8 indicate the single conductor diagram and the symbols used to designate the various switching elements.
The thin lines show the circuits and equipment used in the electrification of this single conductor diagram for the purpose of providing warning indications. The signal lamps used to indicate the respective positions of the different switching elements are however not shown in fig. 7 and 8 in combination with the symbols, these details being shown in FIGS. 4 and 5.
The network supervisor can operate the selector equipment by means of keys K 'to KJ and - of the dial CD, to choose on the control panel that corresponds to the electrical equipment a specific switch symbol that he wishes to control or monitor.
He can observe, by means of the contacts 131 of the K4 keys, the correct functioning of his selector devices and can then activate the snap-in relay relating to the respective symbol by operating the contacts 130 of the K 'key to operate. the circuits - signal lamps,, so as to obtain the desired indication on the symbol - of the chosen switch.
In this way, he can verify the accuracy of his switching commands or control operations before the operation itself takes place. At the same time that the switch symbols in the single line diagram of the control panel are receiving current to make the various warning signals appear,
some other circuits shown in fig. 7 and 8 are operated automatically to provide warning indications on the single line diagram to notify the supervisor when as a result of switching operations certain transformers and certain lines and bus bars have been switched on or off - cir cooked.
After the supervisor realizes that his planned maneuvers are correct, the connection with the switch symbol on the supervisor control panel is automatically maintained in such a way that when the main control key K 'is operated, the control unit -of the supervisor's station will be actuated to transmit to an equipment. motor switch located at a distance impulses which will result in the operation of this equipment.
even when he does not have control equipment, the supervisor can nevertheless verify the appropriateness of his switching instructions before issuing orders to a remote employee by means of telephone circuits, etc. . and thus obtain the operation of the switches.
As information arrives from outside stations, either through control equipment which records the indications automatically, or through telephone communications, the supervisor establishes the signals from the control panel, - in such a way that this table presents at all times an exact image of the exact positions of the various switching devices of the energy network - or - of the proposed changes of position.
For the presentation of the operation of the object of this addition, it will be assumed that the supervisor wishes to close the oil circuit breaker B010 at the remote station. 01 which is connected to its workstation by means of an information transmission equipment constituted by the monitoring and command network shown in FIG. 6.
The signal made apparent by the BON symbol with the device - in the position corresponding to that indicated in the drawings, indicates that the - oil circuit breaker B010 controlled by automatic devices of the remote station has been opened.
However, the normal operation of the network requires that the oil circuit breaker B010 be closed, in order to connect the transformer group 1 to the circuits of the network and the supervisor adjusts the mechanism of the control panel, so as to show up signals. warning devices in the event that the circuit breaker trips under the influence of automatic devices (not shown in the drawing) of the remote substation, as a result of a failure or overload of the network, such that an indication of the tripped state of the oil-bath circuit-breaker is immediately transmitted via the control equipment,
as shown in FIG. 6 of the drawing, to produce the state of the alarm signal to the supervisor control panel. If at this moment the supervisor wishes to leave the oil circuit breaker B010 open, he chooses the control panel using the selector the symbol B010 and brings the latching relay to a position in accordance with the open position of the circuit breaker. B010 oil from the remote station. The alarm signal is then extinguished.
Suppose instead that the supervisor wants to immediately close the BON circuit breaker of the substation 01 remotely: it will start by connecting the circuits of its control buttons to the circuits of, symbol: of the circuit breaker B010. Of the station control equipment 01.
For this purpose, the supervisor first operates the locking key K 'which connects the call device. CD on the circuits of the Si selector.
The selectors S '(fig. 1), S2 (fig. 2) and S "(fig. 3) are of the type commonly used on telephone networks there, automatic central. The circuits are however modified to add certain peculiarities and adapt their operation to the conditions required by the object of the present invention.
Their mechanical construction, however, has not been changed: as a whole. The construction of this type of selector switch and their operation may be considered too well known to need to be explained here in detail.
By operating the start button h: 3, a circuit is established from the battery positive to the spring lever 1a32 by its upper contact, the device contacts: CD, the rear contact of armature 122 and this armature, and the rolling of relay 102 to the negative of the battery. The relay 102, being energized on this circuit, completes its armature 110 and the front contact with an excitation circuit for the relay 103 passing through the rear contact of the armature 109 of the relay 101 and this mature arm itself.
Relay 108 is of the delayed release type and will retain its attracted armatures during rapid operation of relay 102 in response to pulses from the calling device. CD. To the frame 111 and its contact is closed a point of the excitation circuit of relay 106, while at armature 112 and its rear contact a point is open: in the circuit of the triggering magnet 1.07, while at the previous contact of this armature 112 is closed a point of the series excitation circuit of the relay 105 and of the vertical magnet 104.
In this case, the network supervisor wants to couple the selector and control equipment with the signal circuits leading to the station. 01 shown in the single-line diagram of its table: control. For this purpose, he must transmit by means of his dial the number 01. The number 0 represents a value of ten pulses and the calling device CD will open and close its contacts ten times to transmit this number. The relay 102 will be demagnetized each time the contacts of the calling device CD are either green, and will be magnetized when they are closed again.
When the contacts of the calling device CD are open following the first pulse, the relay 102 is demagnetized and will close a circuit going from the positive of the. battery to the armature 109 and its rear contact by the armature 110 and its rear contact, the armature 111 and its front contact, and the winding of the relay 106 to the negative of the battery. The relay 106 is energized on this circuit, and since it is of the delayed release type, will keep its armatures attracted during the transmission of the pulses comprising the first and the second: digits.
De-energizing relay 102 also has the result of: completing a circuit going from the positive of the battery to the armature 109 - and its rear contact, by the armature 110 and its rear contact, the armature 112 and its front contact, the working springs 117 and 115 and the winding of the 105 series relay and the vertical magnet 104 to the negative of the battery. Relay 105 and vertical magnet 104 are energized on this circuit. As a result of the excitation: from the vertical magnet 104, the shaft to which the contact arms 125, 126 and 127 are attached will be raised by one degree.
This displacement of the shaft of the contact arms out of its normal position results in: bringing the working springs 113 and 114 to their opposite position, in which these springs close a point in the circuit of the magnet of : release 107, tan say that, when opening, 117 makes contact with spring 116 and separates from spring 115.
Following the excitation of the relay 105, a second point of the excitation circuit of the rotary magnet 108 is open to the mature artery 118 and its rear contact, while at the front contact of this armature, an auxiliary excitation circuit for the relay 105 and the vertical magnet 104 is completed by means of the springs 116 and 117, and this circuit will serve to ensure the continuation of the excitation of the relay 105 and the vertical magnet 104 during the transmission of the rest of the pulses relating to the first digit.
When relay 102 is energized again, its energization is only momentary and relay 105 maintains its armature 118 has been pulled. The relays 103 and 106 also keep their respective armatures attracted during the brief intervals between the pulses relating to the first digit. The vertical magnet 104 is alternately energized and demagnetized ten times during the transmission of the pulses for the first digit and the shaft of the contact arms consequently raises its contact arms 125, 126 and 127, to the height of: tenth stage of their respective contact keys.
During the interval between the first series of pulses and the second, the relay 102 remains energized for an appreciable time and the relay 10.5 is consequently demagnetized and it releases its armature 118. As a result of this demagnetization of the relay 105, the series relay 105 and the vertical magnet 104 are cut off from the impulse circuit and the rotary magnet 108 is connected in their place to this circuit.
Transmission of the second digit by the calling device CD results in [de-magnetizing relay 102 and then energizing it once during the time this digit is being transmitted. The rotating magnet 108 is therefore excited and rotates the contact arm shaft one notch, so that the contact arms 125, 126, 127 are stopped on the first keys of their .de tables. respective contacts.
During the interval between the second series of pulses and the third, the relay 106 releases its armatures 120, 126 and 124, so that the circuits of the contact arms 125, 1! 26. and 127 are connected to the selector circuits S @. Following: the operation of the selector switch S ': the. As described, the contact arms 125, 126 and 127 have been stopped on the first row of contacts of the tenth stages of their respective contact tables.
Thus is completed a circuit which goes from the positive of the battery i from the spring lever 132 of the key K "and from its upper contact by the contacts of the call device CD, the armature 12,3 and its contact, the contact arm 125 and the first pad of its tenth contact stage, the conductor 1.52, the contact of the armature 210 and this armature itself, and by the winding of the relay 202 to negative -of the battery.
The relay 242 energized on this complete circuit, at the front contact of the armature 212 and this armature itself a circuit to energize the relay 206. This relay 206 then closes, to the armature 216 and its front contact, a circuit of. excitation for relay 101. This circuit comprises armature 124 and its rear contact, contact arm 126 and the contacts of its contact board 01, conductor 1-56 and the front contact of armature 216 and this very frame.
A circuit is now established from then the positive of the battery to the res lever goes out 165 -and its contact on the key K-, the armature 121 and its contact, and the winding of the relay 101 to the negative of the drums. Relay 101. is kept energized on this circuit under the control of the V key and at armament 109 and its front contact is completed a circuit to keep the relay 106 energized independently of the relay 102, while the circuit -du relay 102 is open to armature 122 and its rear contact.
On tripping, the relay 102 closes, at the rear contact of the mature artery 110, a point of the excitation circuit of the tripping magnet 107.
Relay 102 is now disconnected from the calling device circuit CD, While the relay 202 has been recarded to this circuit, and the selector switch S 'has been locked under the control of the KZ key in its position to which it has been operated.
A circuit is found, then. completed which starts from the positive of the. battery to the spring lever 135 and its eontaet on the key by the armature 119 and its contact, the armature 120 and its contact, the contact arm 127 and the contact pad of table 01, the conductor 1.55 and the filament of the signal lamp 428 (fig. 4) to the negative of the battery, The signal lamp 42,8 is on - so #:
to illuminate the symbol marked 01 on the front panel equipment of the control panel to indicate to the supervisor that he has made the selection of station 0,1 and. that it can continue ô, carry out the selection of -circuits, of control of any one of the symbols representing -des devices of station 01, and to operate these circuits. In parallel with the excitation circuit which has just been drawn, the relay 251 is energized by means of the: conductor 155. It has multiple contacts, comprising eleven pairs of contacts.
The armatures 236 to 245 acting in combination with the relay 251 are shown connected with the contact pads of the board representing those of the eighth stage of the board assigned to the contact arm 227. An excitation circuit for the relay 260 is completed @ to frame 246 and its contact. Relay 260 may be one-tenth of a group of relays which can be cascaded from then similar relay contacts such as 251. Relay 260 is also of the multiple contact type.
Ten similar relays @ 251 and 260 can be energized in the same way to connect the circuits controlled by their armatures and the front contacts of these with the hundred contacts acting in combination with the switchboard accessible to the contact arm 227 .
There can be one hundred groups of relays selectable by the contact arm 227 and each contact of this table must be connected in such a way that the contact arm 227 can complete each time a point of the selection circuit of n any group of these relays.
The apparatus for controlling the symbols with the prefix B is made accessible to the supervisor by means of the eighth contact lever of the selector S2. The supervisor must therefore transmit to this switch a series of eight pulses, followed by a series of pulses corresponding to the first digit of the number of the switch shown, which in this case is "0" and to the value of. ten pulses.
The relays 202, 203, 205 and 206, as well as the vertical and rotary trip magnets 204, 207 and 208 fulfill in the circuit .du switch S- the same respective functions as the corresponding elements of switch S1. It suffices therefore to mention that in response to the transmission of the series of pulses 8 and 0 respectively, the switch S2 places its contact arms on their tenth sets of contacts of the eighth stage of their contact tables.
At the end of the transmission of the pulses comprising the fourth digit, the relay 202 remains energized. As a result, the excitation circuit of the delayed release relay 206 is open at the rear contact @of the armature 212 for a time sufficient to allow this relay to release its mature arches 224, 225, 226.
The pulse conductor 152 which previously stopped at relay 202 is now extended to pulse relay 302 of switch S3 through armature 226 and its rear contact, of the arm. contact 229 -and the contact of its board on which it is stopped, the conductor 232 and by the winding of the relay 302 to the negative of the battery. Following its activation, relay 30.2 completes: to armature 313 and its contact before a circuit for relay 303.
This last relay then completes its armature 31.6 a circuit comprising the conductor 233, the switchboard contact 80 .on which rests the contact arm 228 and this contact arm itself, the armature 22.5 and its rear contact, and the winding of the relay 201. The energization of the relays 201 causes at the switch 82 circuit changes corresponding to those made at the switch S1 to. the continuation of the excitement -of his release 101.
Since relay 302 has now been substituted for relay 202, the pulses transmitted by the calling device CD, when it is activated to transmit the fifth and sixth digit of the desired selection, the result will be to energize the relay 302 assigned to switch S3. This switch S3 is identical to the switch S2 except that, being the last of the series, it does not need a relay corresponding to the relay 201 of S2, the pulse relay 30.2 being directly and permanently connected with the conduc pulse. tor 232.
As the number of the chosen symbol is B010 of the station 01, the fifth and sixth series of pulses will comprise 1 and 10 interrupts respectively. -of the relay circuit 302. This relay consequently actuates the switch S3, -so as to bring its contact arms to their tenth clearances -the contacts of the first stage of their contact tables.
At the end of the transmission of the pulses for the sixth digit, relay 302 remains energized.
At the end of the transmission of the pulses for the sixth digit, the excitation circuit of relay 306 is opened at the rear contact of armature 313 and, after a small interval, this relay releases its armatures and completes one point of each - circuits leading to contact arms 363 and 3.64.
A circuit dares is then closed which extends from the positive of the battery to the switchboard contact 10 with its contact arm 364, through the armature 319 and its rear contact, the conductor 231 and the winding of the relay 209 to the negative of the battery. The relay 209 is energized on this circuit and closes a circuit going -from the positive of the battery to the armature 213 -and its front contact, through the front contact of the armature 223 and this armature itself, the con rear tact. of the frame 224 and this frame itself, the contact arm 227 and its switchboard contact 80, the frame 236 and its front contact,
the conductor 234 and the winding of the relay 321 to the negative of the. drums.
The relay 321 is of the type with multiple contacts and is generally -disposed -de way, à. attract eleven sets of reinforcement (fig. 3). A circuit passing through the closed contacts of one of these armatures (361) is used to energize a relay of such milar construction which, in turn, energizes a third relay and so on until all of these multiple contact relays are energized due to the energization of the first relay 321.
The drawing shows a drive circuit for another relay 330, passing through mature ar 361 and its forward contact. When these relays are energized, the contacts accessible to the contact arm 363 are connected to the circuits of the relays, snap-in devices which are employed to control the pilot lights of the control board.
Relays 321 and 3.30 are referred to as: group selector relays and assuming that there is no 01 that two groups of ten switching circuits to be connected; only two relays would be used. It is therefore sufficient to use a sufficient number of relays of groups to complete the circuits of the selectable snap-in relays at each station.
The relays 331 and 340 are connected with contact 81 of the contact table. . of the selector S = via the conductor 235, while the relays 321 and 330 are connected with the contact 80 of the selector switch board, S'2 via the conductor 234.
When he wishes to ensure the correct operation of his selector devices, the supervisor will first operate key K4, -so that the spring-loaded lever 131 closes the contact and thus completes a circuit going -from the positive of the battery from the switch to the switch.
high speed 140, by the spring 131 and its rear contact, the conductor 154, the armature 318 and its contact, the contact arm 363 and the contact 10 of, its contact board, the front contact of the armature 341 and this armor itself, the conductor 371 and the winding of the magnet 8010:
which is the motor magnet of the individual snap-in relay - from symbol B010, to the negative of the battery. This magnet will then be excited intermittently on the circuit which has just been traced.
The pilot lights and auxiliary circuits of the control panel are arranged so as to be controlled by means of closed circuits. via cam contacts - relays to. snap-in. The arrangement of the cams and their positions are shown schematically in fig. 5. When the cams are brought to position 4, the contacts and the: springs occupy their rest positions.
The positions of the cams shown are numbered in accordance with the four positions to which they can be moved and it is therefore easy to determine the positions of the contact springs for any of the positions of the cams. The ratchet has four teeth and. actuates the cams so as to. have them take the four different positions.
When the cams of the magnet. 8110 actuated by its relay at. ratchet are brought to position 1, the corresponding cams. at 51 and 52 (fig. 5) actuate the springs 431 and 432, so that the springs 431 and 4331 are operated: so as to close certain points of their circuits, while; that the springs 476 and 4322 open points of their respective circuits. In position 2, the spring levers 432, 4331 and 434 are actuated, while the levers at. spring 431, 476 and 435 are returned to their rest position.
In position 2, the lever at. spring 434 comes into contact with its contact. upper spring, the spring lever 4331 interrupts its contact with its lower spring and closes its contact with its upper res out, and the lever to. spring 432 switches off: contact with its lower contact spring. In position 3 of the cams the spring levers 432, 4331 and 435 are actuated. In this position, the spring lever 435 closes its contact with its upper spring, while the spring lever 43:31 closes. se- takes off its spring from below and comes into contact with its spring from above, then. as the lever to. spring 432 interrupts its contact with its spring from below.
In this position of the cams, the green lamp 583 and the white lamp 591 of symbol B010 are on. The green lamp is supplied by the positive of the battery brought through the contact of the armature 521 and of the armature Bette itself directly to the lamp 583 and to the negative of the. drums. White lamp 594 is powered. since the positive of the. battery in contact with the armature. 521 and this frame itself, and through the cam springs 544 to. the lamp and the negative of the battery.
At first, when the motor magnet 8010 is energized, the cams. 51, 52 and 53 acting in combination with the magnet 8010 of the ratchet relay are brought to, position 1. In this position of the cams, the spring 541 closes contact with its top spring, the res comes out 543 interrupts its contact with its lower res, the spring 576 separates from its lower spring and spring 544 breaks its contact with its lower spring and closes its contact with its upper spring.
Thus is completed a circuit from the positive of the battery to contact 541 to the filament -de: the red lamp 542 and to the negative of the battery. The symbol B010 is therefore illuminated this time by the green lamp 583 and the red lamp 542 at the same time. In res. 544, the circuit on which the white lamp 594 was illuminated is open and the lamp extinguished.
Subsequent energization of magnet 8010 brings the cams to position # 2 and in this position of the cams the circuit from red pilot light 542 is open to springs 541.
The following excitation of the motor magnet 8010 advances the cams to position 3. In this position, the springs 546 close a point of the circuit: the excitation of relay 506.
The combinations of cams and springs under the influence of the magnet 8010 chosen to actuate the symbol B010 are shown in their rest position, which is position 4. To simplify the description, the cams are not shown at fig. 4 and, instead of each spring, small numbers designating the different positions have been added, cams which cause the springs to change position.
When energized again, the magnet motor 8010 brings the cams to the position in which their springs return to the position shown schematically in fig. 5. As explained above, the green pilot light and the white light 594 are on.
As the excitation of the motor magnet 8010 continues, it will be seen that the color of the symbol BO10 is successively changed and that the pilot light 594 will be turned on and off to initiate signals in combination with the symbol B010 and to press. to the supervisor that it is this device that he has chosen for his operation.
Having recognized that the operation of his selector devices is correct, the supervisor will now return key K 'to its rest position. He can then push the key K 'in its opposite position to bring the spring 130 into contact with its corresponding opposite spring and can, by operating the key K4 in this way, energize the motor magnet 8010 as many times as it does. will want. This gives it the means to place the cams of the ratchet relay in the desired position to cause the symbol B010 with which it is coupled to appear at any desired signal.
To close the oil switch BO10 of the remote station, the symbol (the switch B010 on the control panel must show a green indication to indicate that the oil switch is open and the alarm or fault symbol A of lamp 594 must be illuminated to indicate that the position of the oil switch B010 of the remote station does not agree with that of the ratchet relay indicated by the symbols on the control board.
The supervisor will consequently actuate the motor magnet B010 to bring the cams to position 4 which is that shown diagrammatically @ in fig. 5.
The supervisor will now operate the key K 'so as to complete a circuit going from the negative of the battery to the contacts of the spring 129 of said key by the conductor 1-56, the winding of the relay 507, the spring 57'6 and its contact spring 544, and its bottom contact, to end, at the armature 521 and its rear contact, at the positive of the battery.
The relay: 507 is energized on this circuit and completes a circuit going from the negative pole of the split 60 volt battery shown at the bottom of fig. 6, by the conductor 533, the contact of the armature 518 ci this armature itself, the conductor 534, the contact 1 of the table of the contact arm 652 and this contact arm itself, the line I, the contact arm 657 and its contact 1, and the winding of the relay 606 to the common conductor CM and thence to the positive of the 60 volt battery.
By energizing relay 16.06, the command and control equipment shown in fig. 6 is switched on. This command and control equipment is of the synchronous switch type, but is normally at rest. The contact arms 651 to 65.5 are mounted on a common shaft which, when the motor magnet 603 is energized and demagnetized, is set in motion step by step and then passes its contact arms step by step over the contacts of their respective tables.
The remote station contact arms 656 to 660 are mounted in a similar manner on a common shaft and are operated over their respective fixed contacts by the action of the motor magnet 60.8 when the latter is activated. excited and disillusioned.
The synchronous selector system is essentially divided into three independent circuits which may be referred to as the command, control and synchronization circuit, but use a common return line conductor. The supervisor controls the units to be monitored at the remote station by means of the control circuit, while the indications relating to the supervised units are returned to it by means of the indication circuit. The station equipment at,
remote is activated in synchronism with the equipment of the supervisor's station by means of a current launched on the synchronization circuit. Line C constitutes the conductor of the control circuit, the other part of the circuit being constituted by the common return conductor CH. Line I is the conductor of the indicator circuit, the op posed side of which is completed by the common return conductor CH. The line 8 is the synchronization circuit, the opposite side of which is 6g a:
- possibly completed by the common CM return driver.
Relays 60,4, 60,5 and 601 are of the polarized type with two positions and latch. This type of latching polarized relay, when placed in either of its two positions, is held there until the current to its winding is returned.
In fig. 6, the control and command equipment is shown in its rest position, all its devices at rest. The relay 606 once energized, completes a circuit starting from the positive terminal of the battery split into two parts of the remote station and passing through the front contact of the mature arm 62'6 and this armature itself, the fixed contact on which the contact arm 660 is stopped, this contact arm itself, the winding of the relay 605, the line S, the rolling of the relay 604, the contact arm 655 and the contact on which it is stopped, conductor 533, the negative terminal of the two-part battery of the supervisor's station,
through this battery and from there by the line conductor Eyelash at the central point of the split battery of the remote station. The relays 604 and 6015 are excited in series on this circuit, so that the armature 620 comes to connect with the contact 6.22, and the mature arm 62.5 with the contact 623.
At the remote station is thus completed a circuit starting from the positive of the battery in contact with the switchboard on which the contact arm 659 is engaged by this contact arm, the winding of the magnet 608, the armature 625 and its contact 623. to the negative of the bat terie. Motor magnet 60.8 is energized on this circuit and advances its contact arms one step.
At the supervisor's station is completed a circuit going -from the positive of the battery to the -contact, on which rests the contact arm 654, by this contact arm, the winding of the relay 603, the armature 620 and its contact 622 to the negative of the battery. Motor magnet 603 is energized on this circuit and advances its contact arms one step.
Following the advance of the contact arms to the second contacts of their respective contact tables is then closed an excitation circuit for the relays 604 and 605, but in the opposite direction, so that these relays return their frames 620 and 625 to the. position shown in fig. 6.
This circuit can be traced. To. from the negative terminal, from the split battery of the watchman's station, via contact 2 of the contact panel and the contact arm 655, the relay 604, the line AS ', the winding of the relay 605 , the contact arm 66.0 and its second contact from the contact board, the positive terminal - of the split battery of the remote station and, the line CJ1 which - connects the respective central points of the station battery - of the on-watch and of that of the remote station.
During the passage of the armature 620 from the contact 62.2 to the contact 621, the excitation circuit of the motor magnet 603 is open and the magnet places its latching mechanism in a position such that the shaft carries -contact arm goes. be advanced a further step when the motor magnet is energized again.
Likewise, at the post to, Remotely, the drive magnet motor 608 is open during translation of the armature 625 from contact 623 to contact 624 and magnet 608 brings its ratchet mechanism to. the desired position to advance the shaft. contact arm again when the magnet is energized the next time. A circuit is thus established which goes from the negative to the. battery to the switchboard contact of the contact arm 659 by the winding of the motor magnet 608, the armature 625 and the contact 624 to the positive of the battery.
The motor magnet 608 being excited on this circuit advances the contact arms of the second -contacts -of their panels to the third contacts.
At the supervisor's station is then completed a circuit starting from the positive of the battery to the contact occupied by the control arm and 620, through this contact arm itself, the winding of the motor magnet 603, the contact arm 654 and its second switchboard contact to the negative terminal of the battery. The motor magnet 603 is excited on this circuit and advances its arms, from contact to the three contacts of their respective tables.
Arms. contact 'of the supervisor station and the @distanee station are now stopped on the third contacts of their respective contact tables. The contacts accessible to the contact arm 655 of the supervisor's station are arranged as follows. be alternately connected. with the negative terminal and the positive terminal of the battery split, the first contacts being connected with the negative terminal of the. battery, the second with the positive terminal, the third with the negative terminal and.
the fourth with the positive terminal and so on. He is at. note however that the connection with the contacts of the contact panels accessible to the contact arm 655 can be completed by means of the contacts of certain relays which, in turn, are operated by the supervisor via the relays shown in fig. 4 and 5 and -keys arranged at his post.
At the remote station, the contacts accessible to the arm, contact 6: 60 are alternatively connected with the negative terminal and the positive terminal of the battery, the negative terminal being connected with the odd contacts and the positive terminal with the contacts. pairs of the contact panel accessible to said contact arm. The connection -of the negative terminal -of the battery with the first contact of the switchboard is ensured by the armature 626 of the relay 606, in order to establish the circuit which triggers the. synchronous walking.
Similarly, magnet 6013, and contact arm 654 are alternately connected to the two positive and negative battery terminals, so that an excitation circuit for the motor magnet can only be completed. if armature 620 has been brought to its correct position by the current flowing through the winding of relay 604.
At the remote station, the armature 625 of the relay 605 and the contact arm 659 are alternately connected with the two terminals of the accumulator battery, in such a way that the magnet 608 can only be energized if the armature 625 assumes its correct position due to the direction of the current which crosses the winding of the relay 605. In this way, the selector switches of the supervisor and the remote station are activated: step by step in synchronism.
0'n will notice that the. connection with the negative of the. battery of the third contact of the table assigned to the contact arm 655 is obtained through the intermediary of the conductor 425, the contact of the armature 414 and this armature itself and then by the conductor 4 \ 2.1 to the negative of the . drums. So if the relay 405 is energized, a point of this circuit is opened at the armature 414 and it results. that the relays 604 and 605 are not energized in series to produce the movement of the contact arms of the. described manner.
As a result, the contact arms 651 to. 655 from the supervisor's station to the network and the contact arms 656 to 660 from the remote station remain stopped on the third contact of their respective contact tables.
As a result, the operation of the synchronization circuit can. be suspended to stop the contact arms in any of their positions by keeping one side of the sync circuit open to the corresponding contacts of the contact arrays accessible to contact arm 655.
In the example described, it is on the contrary assumed that the relay 405 is demagnetized and that the synchronous operation of the selector continues until. - that the contact arms of the supervisor's station and those of the remote station both reach the eighth contacts. their tables, their respective contacts. The supervisor can repeat the selection work from any point when he has. been interrupted as a result of the excitation of a relay such as 405. This restart can be obtained by momentarily abandoning the key K 'which opens one side of the excitation circuit of relays 405 and 5.0-7.
The relay 507 is energized, on a circuit already traced above, following the operation of the key K "and, when the contact arms come to stop on the eighth eontaet of their respective switching tables, the circuit on which the relays 604 and 605 can be energized in series, is or green at the armature 516.
As a result of this interruption of the circuit, the synchronous operation is stopped, leaving the contact arms at the station. .distance as well as: those of the supervisor's station stopped on the eighth: contact: of theirs. respective switching tables.
A circuit is thus established from the positive terminal: from the battery split into -two parts of the remote station, by the conductor 675, the contacts 682: from the switch to, the circuit breaker pad B010, the eighth switchboard contact of the contact arm 657 and this contact arm, the. line I, the contact arm 652 and its eighth switchboard contact, the winding of the relay 601, the conductor 674 and the line conductor CM in the middle: of the. bat terie split from the station at a distance.
Relay 601 is energized on this circuit and draws its mature ar 618 to the position shown at. fig. 6, so that this frame is brought into contact with its contact to. spring 617. This excitation of relay 601 has no effect since its armature was: already. in the position indicated in: drawing.
Circuit breaker B010 is open and an indication is thus recorded at the supervisor's station. In this position, the frame. of relay 601 completes a circuit that goes. from the positive of the battery by the armature 618 and its contact 617, the conductor 53'2e and the winding of the relay 50.5 to the negative of the battery. Relay 505 is energized on this circuit and maintains, at the front contact of armature 521 and at this armature itself, the circuit traced above closed to ensure the lighting of the green signal lamp 563 of the symbol B010 which indicates that the B010 oil circuit breaker is or green.
To close the oil circuit breaker B010, the supervisor now operates the main control key K ', so as to complete a circuit which goes from the positive of the battery through the springs 136, the conductor 151 and the winding of the relay 602 to the battery negative.
The relay 602 is energized on this circuit and completes a circuit starting from the positive terminal of the battery split from the supervisor's station by the conductor 536, the contact of the armature 595 and this mature ar, the armature 517 and its contact, the conductor 53e5, the eighth contact of the switchboard of the contact arm 6151 and this contact arm, the contact of the armature 619 and this armature, the line C, the contact arm 65: 6 of the substation where distance and the eighth contact of its contact panel, the winding of relay 611 and the CM line conductor in the center of the split battery of the supervisor's station.
Relay 611 being energized on this circuit draws its armature 652 to the position in which it makes contact with contact 651, so that the positive of the battery is connected, to armature 6:52, through the intermediate contact: 651, with the winding of the contactor 61'2 and the negative of the battery.
The contactor 612 is energized and comes to close a circuit ensuring the excitation of the solenoid 615 to close the oil circuit breaker B010. The oil circuit breaker B010 is operated electrically through the solenoid 615, but is mechanically locked by means of a mechanism. dice click that is not shown.
A circuit is then also completed from the negative terminal of the sealed battery of the remote station, by the driver 673, the contacts and the armature: 6: 83 of the switch: with paddles, the eighth contact of the table of the contact arm 657 and this contact arm, the line I, the contact arm 652 of the supervisor's station, and its eighth switchboard contact, the winding of relay 601 and the CM line conductor at the central point of the split battery of the remote station.
The relay 601 is energized on this circuit in such a way that its armature 618 is attracted to its position opposite to that indicated in FIG. 6, so as to make contact with the spring 616. When the armature 618 separates from the spring 617, the excitation circuit traced above of the relay 505 is open and this relay is demagnetized. Its demagnetization has the result of interrupting at the armature 5.21 the circuit of the green signal lamp. The circuit traced above for the white lamp 594 is also interrupted at the same point.
The green lamp and the white alarm lamp belonging to symbol B010 are then extinguished and said symbol ceases to be lit, which indicates to the supervisor that the oil circuit breaker B010 has been operated and is closed. The supervisor then returns the main key K 'to its rest position and thus opens the excitation circuit of relay 60'2. Triggering of relay .6012: determines the opening of the excitation circuit of relay 611 of the remote station and this relay puts its 652 armature back to its neutral position halfway between contacts 6:51 and 658.
Since the excitation circuit of the contactor 612 is then open, this contactor ceases to be energized and opens the excitation circuit of the solenoid 615.
Now suppose that the supervisor wants to open the oil circuit breaker B010. To this end, he must operate the key K 'so as to close the contact between the springs 130 momentarily, a desired number of times to actuate the motor magnet 8010 of the ratchet relay, so as to bring the cams to their position. No. 3, in which the springs 546 close, while the spells 543 open and the spring 544 is removed from its lower contact and comes to rest against its upper contact.
As a result, it completes a circuit starting from the positive of the battery through the armature 618 and its contact 616 and passing through the conductor 531, the contact of the armature 522 and this armature, the upper contact of the spring 544 and this spring itself and by the lamp 594 to the negative of the battery. The lamp 594 being lit on this circuit comes on to illuminate the warning symbol belonging to the circuit breaker symbol B010 to indicate to the supervisor that the position of the ratchet relay does not agree with the position of the circuit breaker of the remote station. The symbol tells him that he can now trip the oil circuit breaker B010.
The supervisor will then activate the main key K 'again to close the circuit of relay 602. By energizing relay 602, a circuit is completed by so much of the positive of the battery by the springs 546 of the relay to. pawl actuated by the magnet 80,10, and from there by the winding of the relay 506, the front contact of the armature 519 and this armature itself, the conductor 156, the spring 129 and its contact to the negative of the drums.
The relay 506 being energized on this circuit completes a circuit from the negative terminal of the split battery of the supervisor's station, the conductor 533, the contact of the armature 515 and this armature itself, the conductor 585, the eighth contact of the the contact block of the contact arm 6151 and the contact arm 651, the contact of the armature 619 and this armature itself, the line C, the contact arm 65e6 and its eighth contact on the board, the winding of relay -611, and the CM line conductor at the point located halfway between the two parts of the split battery of the supervisor's station.
The relay 611 is energized on this circuit, so that the armature 652 closes a circuit to the contact 653 and that the conductor 613 is therefore energized. A circuit is then established from then the positive of the battery of 2.20 volts by the contacts 681 of the paddle switch of the circuit breaker B010, the contacts of the contactor 613 and the winding of the solenoid 614 to the negative of the battery. .
Solenoid 61.1 is energized on this circuit and actuates oil circuit breaker B010, so as to return it to its position shown schematically in the drawing (fig. 6).
A circuit is then completed from then the positive terminal of the battery split from the remote station by the conductor 675, the contacts 682 of the paddle switch, the eighth contact on which the contact arm 657 is stopped, this arm switch itself, the line I, the contact arm 652 and the eighth switchboard contact on which the winding of the relay 601 is stopped and the line CM at the central point between the two parts of the battery split from the remote station. The relay 601 is energized on this circuit, so that the armature 61.8 comes to occupy the.
position indicated -to. fig. 6 of the drawing and thus completes a circuit starting from the posi tive of the battery by the armature 618 and its contact 61 7 , the conductor 532 and the winding of the relay 505 to the negative of the battery. By attracting its armature, the relay 50e5 opens, on the rear contact of its armature 522 and on this armature itself, the circuit of the signal lamp 594 which consequently goes out.
while at. armature 521 le: circuit drawn previously for la. green lamp: 583 is closed at. new, and this lamp lights up the symbol B010 to indicate to the supervisor that the switch to. BOIO oil is triggered again.
The supervisor then returns the keys Ki and K 'to their rest positions. Following the resetting of the K1 key to the rest position, the relay 602: triggers and opens, at its armature 619 the: circuit of relay 611. By tripping, this relay lets its armature 652 return to its, rest position . Contactor 613 therefore trips and interrupts current at. through solenoid 614. Circuits and devices acting in conjunction with the circuit breaker at. BOIO oil are then in the position shown in the drawing.
Returning to. In its rest position, the key K 'opens the circuit: for excitation of relay 507 which, by triggering, opens, on contact with armature 519 and with this armature itself, the circuit of relay 506, in such a way that the latter relay triggers in turn. When tripping, relay 506 opens, at. armature 515 and its front contact, another point in the excitation circuit of relay 611, but this is at the same time controlled by relay 602.
As a result of the triggering of the relay 507 at the rear contact of the mature artery 516, a circuit. is completed from then the positive terminal of the split battery from the supervisor's station by the driver 53-6 !, the armature- 516 and its rear -contact, the driver 537, the eighth contact of the board with the contact arm 655, the winding of relay 604, the line S , the winding of the relay 605, the contact arm 660 and its eighth switchboard contact, to. the negative terminal of the split battery of the remote station and by the CM line conductor in the center of the supervisor station battery.
The relays. 604 and 605 are excited on this circuit and come to close circuits. similar to those previously described to advance the -contact arms, from their eighth contacts to the ninth -contacts. : from their respective tables and continue to. activate the selectors of the supervisor's station in synchronism with those of the remote station up to. -e that the -contact arms are again pledged on their respective first switchboard contacts.
The symbol BII0 and the associated circuits are also shown connected with the supervisor's control equipment. Relays 403, 404 and 405 are. operated in a manner identical to that of relays 505, 506 and 507, and the maneuvers: of circuits! to open and close an oil switch, such as BIIO, shown in. fig. 6 are identically the same as those which have just been described.
Only switch paddle switch to. B110 oil is shown, since the other circuits of the oil switch are identical to. those of the BOIO oil switch.
When the symbol B010 announces the closed position, while the switch to. oil is open, the supervisor has. a tear indication on the B010 symbol and if he does not: wish to re-close the oil switch B010, he must erase the tear signal by activating the BOIO motor magnet:
so as to place the cams in a position in accordance with the tripped state of the oil switch. It consequently operates the BOIO motor magnet in such a way that the cams are turned and brought to position 3. The excitation circuit of the signal lamp 594 is therefore open to the mature arcing with spring 544 and its lower contact.
Under these conditions, if the oil switch BO10 were to trigger under the action of automatic devices not shown, the control equipment will operate in the same manner as that described above, except that the maneuver is triggered by the activation of the paddle switch. If the contact arm 658 is engaged on its third switchboard contact, a circuit is closed which goes from the middle of the battery to the station.
distance by the Cill and 670 conductors, the 658 contact arm and its third switchboard contact, the 609 relay coil, the vane switch contact acting in combination with the B110 switch, to the 675 conductor and to the positive terminal of the split battery.
The relay 609 being energized on this circuit closes, at the armature 628 and its front contact, a guard circuit for itself which is independent of the contact arm 658. Any movement of the paddle switch acting in combination with switch B110 will nevertheless open this circuit momentarily and cause relay 609 to de-magnetize.
The relay 610 is energized in an analogous manner when the contact arm 656 comes to rest on its eighth switchboard contact, and is also maintained in its energized position under the influence of the contacts of the switch .à. paddles acting in combination with switch B010.
When the oil switch B010 trips under the action of devices not shown in the drawing, the relay 610 is demagnetized and the result is the closing of a circuit which goes from the positive of the battery by the conductor. 675, contaets 682 -of the paddle switch, the armature 631 and its contact and the winding of the relay 607 in the center of the split battery of the remote station. Relay 607 is energized on this circuit and then completes a circuit to actuate the synchronous selector.
This circuit is found in parallel with that closed by relay 606. and which has been described above.
The operation of the control panel equipment is identical to that described above and when the contact arms of the station. distance and -from the station -of the supervisor come both to stop on the eighth contacts of their respective connection panels, a circuit is -completed to produce again the excitation of relay 601. The relay 601 influences the control panel equipment - in the same way as described above.
Under these conditions, and if the position of the ratchet release cams is such that the symbol B010 is not illuminated, thus indicating the closed position, of the switch, a circuit is completed to make the signal lamp glow. green and turn it on. lamp-alarm signal which informs the supervisor that a switching has taken place under. the influence of automatic devices from the remote station.
The supervisor can then proceed to, the. select -the ratchet relay of symbol B010 and bring this relay to; a position in accordance with that of the remote oil switch, or it can close the oil switch in the same way as described above. It should be noted that when the relay 505 is energized, it opens at the armature 522. a point of the excitation circuit of the relay 507.
This circuit is used to prevent the operation of the switch to. oil from the remote station as long as a disagreement has not occurred, indicated by the lighting of warning symbol A assigned to symbol B010.
Returning now more specifically to the circuits of the pawl relays shown in fig. 4 and 5, a description of the operation will be given below - warning indications which are emitted automatically as soon as an operation takes place under the influence of the control equipment or a direct intervention - by the supervisor .
Line switch B011 is in its closed position since lamps 5.95 and 596 are neither on. The switch to. oil B010 is in its open or tripped position announced by the illumination of the symbol by the lit lamp 58'3. Busbar switch B012 is closed, since the symbol is not illuminated. B017 bypass switch is in. its open position. A circuit is completed from the positive of the battery by the. spring 586 and its working contact and the green lamp 584 at the battery negative.
The symbol B017 is therefore illuminated to indicate that the switch is open. The symbol Blll indicates a closed switch, since the symbol is not illuminated. The symbol B11.0 indicates an open switch since the green and white lamps are on. The symbol B113 indicates a closed switch since its lamps are not on. neither. The symbol B114 indicates an open circuit since a circuit is closed to ensure the supply of the green lamp on the circuit comprising the contact and the spring 473.
The annunciator relay .I02 is not energized at this moment and a circuit is completed with. this is done from the positive of the battery by the interrupted conductor 2, the rear-contact of the frame 407 and the latter frame to. red lamp 451 and to the negative of the battery.
The -1-51 red lamp drive circuit is intermittently open and closed on this circuit and causes a red eclipsing indication to appear on the .153 symbol to tell the supervisor that the main bus bar has no current. .
Relay 401 is at this time also de-energized and has completed a circuit from interrupted conductor 2 to similarly appear on annunciator symbol 454 of the. current bus bar, an eclipsing red signal to indicate that this bus bar is without current.
The red lamp 599 of the transformer group symbol I is off and the transformer symbol is in the dark to indicate that the transformer group is off. Suppose at. now that the oil switch B010 is closed and that following this closure a control signal is transmitted to the supervisor's station to indicate that this is the case.
Following the relay energization 601, relay 505 trips, the circuits of the green signal lamp and of the white alarm lamp are opened on contact with the armature 521 and, this armature itself, and said signals are extinguished . The symbol B010 therefore now shows an indication that the oil switch B010 is in its. closed position.
To explain the operation of the annunciator signals, it will be assumed that there is current on the circuit at the point represented by the line side of the BOIT circuit breaker. The current on the diagram. at. single line is represented by a connection with the positive of the. battery. from the relay contacts to. snap-fit. Springs. 561, 543; 562, 563, 46-1, 432, 162 and 46.3 - relays to. snap-locks are those that control the auxiliary circuits or annunciator circuits.
The circuits being - under the conditions exposed, a circuit is completed from the positive of the battery by the res spells 561, the: spring 543 and its lower contact, the contact of the armature 520 and this armature it itself, the spring 563 and its contact. and winding the relay 501 to the negative of the battery. The relay 501 being thus energized, completes at the front contact of the armature 508 and this armature itself a circuit for the excitation of the relay 504.
A circuit is then - completed from the positive of the battery by the front contact - of the armature 514 and this armature itself, the armature 509 and its contact and the red lamp 599 to the negative of the battery. The lamp will show a steady red indication on the symbol designated as group I to indicate to the supervisor that the transformer group has been energized.
With the BIIO oil switch closed, relay 403 is switched off, its circuit being interrupted at. the armature of the .601 'relay. A circuit is now completed from the positive of the battery by the spring 461 and its contact, the spring 432 and its contact, the contact of the armature 40'8 and this armature itself, the spring 463 and its contact , the conductor 417 and the winding of the relay 502 to the negative of the battery.
Being energized on this circuit, the relaist 502 connects the positive of the battery through the front contact of the armature 508 and this armature itself, of the conductor 416 and of the main bus bar with relay 402 and negative - from the battery.
As a result of the energization of the relay 40,2, the lamp 451 receives current from the positive of the battery through the front contact of the armature 40,7 and this ar mature itself, and the symbol announcing it. tor 453, from the main bus bar shows a solid red signal to indicate to the supervisor that this bus bar is receiving power.
Suppose now that the oil switch B010 is open again and that the indication is made visible on the supervisor's control board following the activation of relay 505 and the closing of the circuits described above. . The excitation circuit of relay 501 will be interrupted at ar mature 520 and at the rear contact thereof, and relay 50-1 will trip.
On the contrary, the oil switch B110 remains closed this time and the relay 502 therefore remains energized. When the relay 501 is triggered, the relay 504 is in turn put out of the circuit since its excitation circuit is interrupted at the front contact of the mature artery 508 and at this armature itself.
Under these conditions, a circuit is then completed from the positive of the switch battery on the conductor 2. by the rear contact of the armature 514 and said armature 514, the armature 511 and its front contact, and the lamp 599 at the negative of the battery.
Lamp 599 is intermittently energized on this circuit and projects an intermittent red light on the symbol with the designation group I, thus informing the attendant that transformer group I is connected to the bus bar but is not transmitting energy. .
Relay 402 is de-energized when its circuit is opened on contact with armature 508 and that armature itself, and symbol 453 emits an intermittent red signal to indicate to the supervisor that the bus bar is not transmitting power.
Suppose now that the switch BO10 is closed and the relay 501 energized again. The symbol of the transformer group will again emit a fixed red signal since the relay 504 is energized. If, under these conditions, the supervisor opened circuit breaker B011 or circuit breaker B012, the excitation circuit of relay 501 would be opened again and the result would be that the transformer group symbol would emit an intermittent red indication.
When relay 50,1 is energized and switch B1.14 closed, relay 503 is found as a result of the energization of the ratchet relay assigned to symbol B114, energized on a circuit passing through the spring 462 and its contact. The relay 401 is now energized on a circuit comprising the front contact of the armature 508 and that armature itself, the front contact of the armature 512 and the armature 512, the conductor 418 and the main bus bar.
By energizing the relay 401, the circuit for supplying the signal lamp 452 is transferred to the armature 406 of the device 5, the battery switch to the fixed positive of the battery. The symbol 454 therefore emits a steady red signal warning the supervisor that the emergency bus bar is in service.
From the preceding description of the circuits, it emerges that the relay 504 can be energized by the positive of the battery from the main bus bar, or the emergency one, through the intermediary of the conductors 416 or 418 depending on whether one or the The other of the relays 502 and 503 is energized.
The supervisor therefore receives on the symbol of the transformer group, as described, an indication to inform him that the group is out of service, that it is connected with one or the other of the bus bars, but without being powered by it, or that it is powered and connected to the main or backup bus bar to supply power to the system.
To return the selector equipment to its rest position, the supervisor replaces it. key K3 in its rest position. The relay excitation circuit. 302 is then open and this relay trips. On tripping, relay 302 opens the drive circuit of relay 303 and therefore trips that relay as well.
After a slight interval, the relay 303 releases its armature and then completes a circuit from the positive of the battery by the armature 313 and its rear contact, the armature 315 and its rear contact, the working springs 308 and 309 and winding the trigger magnet 307 to the negative of the battery. The trigger magnet 307 is energized on this circuit and actuates a click mechanism to return the contact arm shaft and its contact arms to their rest position.
Due to the return of the contact arm support shaft to its rest position, the springs in the working position are returned to the position shown in fig. 3 -drawings, and the excitation circuit of the triggering magnet 307 is open to springs 308 and 309. The selector circuits S = and the mechanism of this selector are now in their rest position. Following the triggering of the relay 302, a point of the excitation circuit of the relay 201 is opened, on the other hand, at the front contact of the armature 316 and at this armature itself.
The relay 201 then triggers and determines, in the manner already described in conjunction with the selector S ', the triggering of the selector S \.
Following the switching off of relay 203 and the return @ to their rest position of the circuits of selector S =, the excitation circuit of relay 321 is opened and, by tripping oc relay, cuts its circuit with contacts accessible to contact arm 363 of selector S '. By tripping, the relay 203 again opens the excitation circuit of the relay 101 to the front contact of the armature 216 and this armature itself.
Despite this, the relay 101 is still kept excited under the influence of the K2 key.
From the above description of the circuits, it is clear that the supervisor can now proceed to the selection of any other switching circuit of the station. 01, by simply transmitting, by means of its dial device, all the digits of the switch number announced by the designation carried by the symbol of the single line diagram.
If, on the contrary, he wishes to trigger the station selector Sl, he operates the key K2 so as to momentarily open the circuit to the spring 135 and, consequently, the relay locking circuit 101, the selector S 'is activated. then find -deactivated: in the way already. described in connection with the selector S '.
The excitation circuit of the signal lamp 428 belonging to the symbol of station 01 is open to the front contact of the armature 119 and to this armature itself, due to the return of the selector S 'to its rest position. , so that the signal lamp is off. All devices are at. now returned to its resting position.
The annunciator signal circuits and their operation in combination with the single line diagram of the supervisor control panel will now be described in conjunction with the devices and circuits shown schematically in figs. 7 and 8.
The contacts indicated opposite, numbered symbols -of the switches are the auxiliary contacts of the ratchet relays, which remain constantly closed when the symbol -of the switch indicates a closed position, as well as when this is the result of a closed position. an operation of the switch by means of the control equipment, only when it constitutes a state established by the manipulation of the ratchet relay by means of the key, commanding the supervisor.
These same contacts are constantly open when the symbol announces a locked state. It should be noted that the circuits controlled by the springs 432 of the ratchet relay controlling the circuits of symbol B-110, are connected in series by the intermediary of contacts controlled by the armature 408 of the relay 40. <3. Relay 403 is constantly energized when the oil switch is in its open or tripped position.
Likewise, the annunciator circuits controlled by the springs 543 are also connected in series with the armature 520 of the relay 505, such that when the relay 505 is energized to emit the signal of the open or latch state, these annunciating circuits are also open.
When the latching relay is actuated by the supervisor to establish a locked state or triggered, in short, any other position than that required to announce the closed state on the switching symbol, the annunciator contacts are open.
Energy from an electricity-generating source or from an interconnection is always represented by positive current. connected with the contact of the snap-in relay at a point equivalent to that at which the energy would be connected to the network. In fig. 7 and 8 -of the drawings, the annunciating contacts are shown directly opposite the corresponding switch symbols and the circuit device is shown in a schematic form for the simplification of the description. Where more than one set of contacts is used for a single switch symbol, the different sets of contacts have been designated by A, B and C, etc.
To establish the necessary warning indications, use is made of the relays and contacts of the snap-in relays shown in the drawings.
Any source of electrical energy supplying the network, for example the generator G 'of the station 01 and the interconnection of station X need a connection with the device of the. battery to the nonciator contacts represented by the 1300C and 2007A contacts. The symbol G 'of the generator can emit three warning indications, automatically controlled by the ratcheting relays which show at symbol 1300 of the oil switch and at symbol 1302 of the circuit breaker, the indication of the state of 'opening,: closing - or locking.
It is desirable that the symbol of the- ge- generator emits a signal to indicate energy available, but unused when the circuit breaker 1302 is closed and the oil switch 1300 open.
When symbol 1302 is illuminated by its red lamp to indicate that the circuit breaker is closed, contacts 1302A, 1302B and 1.302C are closed, and when symbol 1300 is illuminated by its green lamp, contacts 1300A, 1300B and 1300C are open. In the first case, a circuit is closed from the negative of the battery by the rear contact of the armature 733, the contact 1302A and the filament of the signal lamp 746 to the positive of the battery. Signal 746 is turned on to illuminate the symbol G1 of the generator. This indicates to the supervisor that there is energy available but unused.
The warning lamps 747 and 7.16 are not visible, being supplied in series by the connection indicated in fig. 7, because of the high strength: filaments.
When the symbol 1300 on the oil switch and symbol 1302 on the circuit breaker both give the open indications, the symbol G 'of the generator is not illuminated and indicates that the generator is on. stopped. When the green lamp is on at switch symbols 1300 and 1.302, contacts 1302A e1: 1: 300A are open and there is no circuit to turn on either of the warning lamps except the circuit high strength filaments in series.
When the symbols 1300 and 1302 of the oil switches indicate the closed state of these switches, the red lamp of each of the two symbols is on and the contacts 1300,4, 1300B, 1300C, 1302A, 1.302B and 1302C are closed. . A circuit is then closed for energizing relay 702, and at the front contact of armature 733 and to This armature is a closed circuit comprising the positive of the battery and the contacts to spells 1302A and 1300A to supply the signal lamp! 747.
The Gl symbol is then illuminated solid red to indicate that the generator is delivering power to the 13.2 kilovolt bus bar shown at. fig. 7.
Relay 701 can be energized either on a circuit comprising contacts 1300C and 1302C. either on circuits controlled by armatures of relays 703, 704, 705, but when the circuit of relays 701 is interrupted, the signal lamp 739 is supplied from the circuit of the switch which is closed at the rear contact - of the frame 734 and to this frame itself. This lamp then emits on the symbol 740 the red signal in termittent which indicates that the. bus bar is not receiving power.
As regards the transformer groups such as transformers 1 and 2 of fig. 7, three different indications are desirable. These indications must be produced automatically following the production of switch position indications on the various symbols representing the switching equipment.
The transformer group must indicate the external working state and must announce that it is connected with the bus bars or the grid lines and that it is supplied to transform energy. It must also indicate, when it is connected with the bus bar or the network links, and that it has been deprived of energy following any switching maneuver which cuts the current either on the side. high voltage, or -on the low voltage side of the transformer.
Suppose the 13.2 kv bus bar is powered by generator Gl and the bus bar breaker B021, oil switch B020, and transformer switch B022 are closed, while the by- switch pass B027 is open. Relay 703 is excited under these conditions on a circuit in which the -contacts B022 ', B020' and B021 'are included.
By energizing relay 703, the armature 731 is closed and its front contact is a circuit for energizing relay 706. This circuit leaves the battery positive 3u via contacts 1302C and 1300C.
The red signal lamp 741 now receives current on a circuit from the positive of the battery through the front contact of the armature 726 and that armature itself, the armature 732 and its front contact, and through the lead filament. signal lamp 741 to battery negative. The transformer group symbol I now shows a steady red signal to indicate that the transformer is plugged into the I busbar and receiving current from it.
Now assuming that switches B222, B220 and B223 on the high voltage side are closed to connect the power of transformer 2 to the bus bar 3 of 33 Iv, the symbols B222, B220 and B223 will show solid red signals to announce the closed state of these switches and contacts B223 ', B220' and B222 'will be closed.
The relay 704 is now energized on a circuit going from a positive point of the battery by the contact B223 ', the contact B220' and the contact B222 'and the winding of the relay 704 to the negative of the battery. relay 707 which controls circuits - from the signal lamp 737 belonging to the annunciator 738 of the bus bar - is now energized on a circuit comprising the armature 730 and its forward contact, the front contact of the armature 731 and armature 7.31, and the circuits traced above for energizing relay 701.
The signal lamp 737 now receives current on a circuit comprising the positive of the battery in the front contact of armature 725 and this armature, to cause on the symbol 738 of the bus bar a solid red signal indicating that the bar omnibus is supplied with current, or active.
Now suppose that the oil switch 1300 is open and its symbol shows a green signal lamp as an indication of this state. Contacts 1300A, 1.300B and 1300C are open and the excitation circuits of relays 701, 702 and 706 are interrupted at these contacts. Bus bar annunciator 740 therefore shows an intermittent red signal to indicate that the bus bar is no longer receiving power.
When relay 706 trips, the signal lamp drive circuit 741 is transferred to the switch 2 circuit at the rear contact of the mature arm 726 and armature 726 and a signal is therefore set. intermittent red on the 1st symbol of transformer 2 to indicate that the transformer is connected to the bus bar, but no longer receiving current.
When relay 707 is tripped, the circuit supplying the signal lamp 737 is transferred to circuits - from switch 2 to rear contact 4th armature 725 and to this armature itself, and an intermittent red indication on symbol 738 announces that the 33 kv bus bar 3 is not receiving more current.
Suppose now that the oil switch 1300 is closed again to ensure the power supply of the bus bar I and the transformer group 2 and to establish, in the manner described above, the corresponding warning signals, while the oil switch B220 is open and the bypass switch B224 closed.
The relay 705 is then energized on the circuit of which the contact B224 'is a part, while the excitation circuit of the relay 704 is open at the contacts B220', The relay 708 controls the signal lamp 735 belonging to the annunciator 736 of the bus bar, and this relay is then energized on a circuit comprising the armature 728 and its front contact, the armature 731 and its front contact, and the circuits described above. To the front contact of the armature 724 and to this armature itself is completed an excitation circuit for the signal lamp 735 and a fixed red signal is thus established on the symbol 736 of the bus bar to indicate that the bar omnibus 4 is supplied with current.
Suppose now that the oil switches B020. And B220 are both open and that the green warning lamps are lit with the corresponding symbols to indicate this state of affairs, and-sup- poso.ns that the switch by -pass B224 is also open and an indication -in this direction made apparent to the corresponding symbol. The excitation circuits of the relays 703 and 705 are open at the respective contacts B020 'and B220', and these relays trip.
As a result, the excitation circuit of the signal lamp 7.11 is open at the armature 73? and its front contact, to the frame 729 and its front contact, and to the frame 727 and its front contact. The symbol of transformer group 2 is not illuminated, in this case, which is an indication that group 2 has been taken out of service.
The circuits relating to the transformer group 1 are controlled by the relays 709, 710, 71l and 712 and are operated by a similar basket to establish the three desirable indications detecting the state of the transformer group 1 by means of the circuits com taking the armatures and auxiliary contacts of the relays.
Assume now that the 33 kv bus bar 3 is energized and that the switches B113, B110, Blll, B112, B010 and B011 are closed, but that the switches B017 and B114 are open. Relays 709 and 710 are energized on completed circuits via auxiliary contacts of the snap-in relays, while the relay 712 is energized on a circuit which includes the forward contact of armature 720 and that armature itself, and the circuit previously drawn for energizing relay 707.
Signal lamp 742 is on a circuit which includes the positive from the battery to the front contact of armature 723, that armature 723 and armature 719 and its front contact. The symbol of transformer group 1 shows a steady red signal as an indication that the transformer group is supplied. Relay 714 controls signal lamp 745 assigned to line annunciator symbol 744 and this relay is now energized on a circuit which includes armature 718 and its contact, armature contact 720, and ar mature 720, and the circuit traced previously for energizing relay 707.
Signal lamp 745 is now on on a circuit which includes the positive of the. battery in the front contact of the armature 716 and this mature ar 716, the symbol 744 then showing a fixed red signal to indicate that the line has current.
From the description given above, it emerges that when the red signal is apparent on the symbol representing the air switches 8031 and 8041, the contacts 8031 'and 8041' are closed. Relay 81.3 (fig. 8) is then energized on a circuit comprising the excitation circuit of relay 714 and contacts 8031 'and 8041', and shows on s7m- bole 801 (fi--. 8) a fixed red indication announcing that at this point line 1. has current. The operation of the circuits of relay 813 to establish this signal is easily understood from the explanation given above for the operation of the circuits of relay 714.
Similarly, when the air switch 8049 shows the closed position, the contacts 8049 'will be closed and the relay 713 goes. be excited to establish on the symbol 701. of the transformer, a signal indicating that the transformer is supplied, the red lamp 743 belonging to the symbol 701 of the t ra.n5former being controlled by the armature 715 of the relay 713.
From the explanation given of the operation of the various line and bar indicators, the bus of fig. 7, the operation of the bus bar indicators 802 and 803, and the line indicators 804 and 805 of the fi ". 8 will be easy to understand. The relay 815 (fig. 8) controls. As seen, the lamp -signal 812 belonging to @@ symbol 802.
Relay 819 controls the. signal lamp 810 belonging to indicator 803, and these indicators are actuated in a manner identical to that described with regard to the signals controlled by relays 707 and 7018. Relay 823 controls the signal lamp 825 belonging to the indicator. nant to line indicator 805 and relay 817, the signal lamp 807 belonging to the line indicator 804. These signals are developed in a manner identically to that described for signals 744 and 801.
Three indications are desirable for the interconnection of station X shown in fig. 8. These signals work - following the. following operation: When the oil switch 2000 and the air switch 2007 are both open, the symbol of the meter 806 - must be in the dark, to indicate that the meter is not connected and that the grid does not supply energy to the interconnections and does not receive any from them either.
When the oil switch 2000 shows a green signal announcing the open state, the 2000 'contacts are open, and when it is the air switch 2007 which shows the veri signal announcing its open state, contacts 2007A and 2007B are open. Under these conditions, the circuits supplying the lamps 809 and 808 are both open and the symbol 806 of the counter is therefore in the dark.
Suppose now that the air switch 2007 is closed and the contacts 2007A and 2007B also closed due to the establishment of the signals announcing the closed state. He is. then closed a circuit which starts from the positive of the battery and the armature 822 with its rear -contact to go through the contacts 2007B and the filament of the signal lamp 808 to the negative of the battery.
The amber signal lamp 808 is lit under these conditions and indicates by symbol 806 that the network shown in fig. 7 and 8 receives energy from the interconnection and the meter connected to the interconnection at the station of the connected company registers the purchased energy. We also realize, under these conditions, that the 2007A contacts connect positive current from the battery to the indicator circuits, so as to produce the excitation of the relays of these circuits in the same way as that described above. of the energy connection of the generator G '.
* Now assuming air switch 2007 is open and contacts 2007,1 and 2007B open again, but oil switch 2000 and air switch 2001 are closed. It is then established a circuit which goes from the positive - of a current d (- the same source of energy which excites the relays 815 and 819 as the case may be, by the switching circuit contacts on the bus bar, the 2001 and 2001 'contacts and the winding of the relay 821 to the negative of the battery.
Contact 2007B being open, the supply circuit of the signal lamp 809 is open and following the energization of the relay 821 it is closed, to the armature 822 and its contact before a circuit to ensure the The signal lamp 809 turns on. With the signal lamp 809 on, the meter symbol 806 shows a solid red signal which alerts the supervisor that the meter is plugged into the intercon nection and records any amount of energy. that the interconnected company can buy.
The way the supervisor control board signals; can be actuated through the control and monitoring equipment has been described with reference to the signal circuits representing the oil switches BON and B110. These oil switches control the arrival of electrical energy to the transformer group I and the connection of the latter to the energy distribution network shown in fi-. 7 and 8.
Assuming that the entire network is supplied with energy received from the generator G ', and that the switches are in their normally closed position, it can be seen that if the oil switch B110 located at the substation 01 were to trigger, under the influence of automatic devices, and to interrupt the circuits and its own contact, the command and control equipment will be actuated to automatically record this triggering via the symbol B110 which will show an indication by means of the green lamp. Contacts B110 'will be open at the same time as a result of the tripping of relay 710.
The current of the generator Gl will be cut from the whole network to the armature 720 and its front contact, so that the relays 713 and 714, 81 3 , 815, 817 and 819 will trip and the indicator symbols controlled by these relays will show intermittent red signals as an indication of a lack of current at the points indicated at the location of the warning symbols.
So, due to the fact that the trigger lies -de the B110 oil switch, that is to say its opening is automatically registered, the control panel automatically establishes a certain number of indicative indications indicating the effect produced on the # network by the triggering of the oil switch B110, and it can be assumed that the whole system can be controlled by connecting it with the electrical and mechanical equipment by means of command and control equipment of various types .
