Pallet needle for knitting machines. The subject of the invention is a pallet needle for knitting machines, the pallet of which is pivotally mounted on the body of the needle, in a slot provided in the latter.
Needles of this kind, of usual construction, have a pallet pierced with a hole with the help of which it is mounted on an attached axis (driven out; riveted or screwed) to the body of the needle or forming an integral part of the latter. . These needles are relatively expensive to manufacture and yet not very durable in use, since the rapid wear of the hole in the pallet or the faulty fixing of the pivot axis make them unusable in a short time.
The needle according to the invention is characterized in that the pallet has two journals manufactured with it, with the aid of which the pallet is adjusted and pivots in corresponding pivot holes provided in the body of the needle. .
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the object of the invention. Fig. 1 shows the needle partially, in side elevation; Fig. 2 is a section, on a larger scale, along the broken line II-II of FIG. 1; Fig. 3 shows in isolation, in front elevation, the pallet, on the same scale as in FIG. 2.
The needle shown comprises a body 4 forming the rod and a hook 4 '. In this rod is cut a slot 5, at the base of the hook 4 '. The pallet 6 is pivotally mounted in the slot 5 of the body of the needle and has for this purpose two lateral journals 7 produced with the pallet, for example by cutting. The journals 7 are engaged in corresponding pivot holes 8 of the needle body.
The journals forming an integral part of the pallet, they are inseparable from it, which avoids constituting an independent pivot axis, prevents the danger of this axis accidentally coming loose from the pallet and finally facilitates the assembly of the needle. The assembly of the needle, 'that is to say the reciprocal assembly of the body of the needle and of the pallet, is obtained by a very simple process which consists in separating the walls of the slot 5 from the body. needle, as shown in phantom in fig. 2, then inserting the pallet 6 into the slot thus widened and finally tightening said walls to bring them back to the required spacing.
It can be seen that the needle described is of a very simple manufacture and, therefore, inexpensive, while offering high qualities in terms of strength and durability.
