Description
Folding roof for motor vehicles. The invention relates to a folding top for motor vehicles, in which the roof is formed by covering fabric stretched over side longitudinal members, and consists in that for tensioning the top fabric on the longitudinal members there are arranged two scissor-like crossed rods at the ends carrying crossbars, of which one rod on the side member itself, the other is articulated on a lever, the lever on the one hand with the longitudinal beam, on the other hand with the foldable main top support GE is articulated.
In the drawing, the subject of the invention is illustrated in an exemplary embodiment, namely: Fig. 1 the folding top in the tensioned state of the top material, Fig. 2 the top partially folded up, Fig. 3 the top in the folded state, the end position but has not yet been reached.
As can be seen from the drawing, the transverse bows 1 and 2 are attached to the free end of the rods 3, 4 which are connected to one another and which cross each other. The rod 3 is articulated on the side members 5 at 6 serving as a fabric frame. On each longitudinal member 5, a lever 8 is articulated at 7 and this is articulated to the folding main top support 10 at 11, which in turn is firmly connected to a rod 4 articulated at 9.
According to this arrangement, the longitudinal members 5, which form the. Bridge space between the windshield and main top support 10, and the rods 3, 4, 8 with the related articulation points 6, 7 and 11 a Nuremberg scissors element, in which in the position of use according to Fig. 1, the United cover material over the cross bows 1 and 2 and the main top support 10 is tensioned, as indicated by dash-dotted lines in FIG.
Through the convertible top described, it is sufficient that the two cross bows allow the folding top to be put back in an almost flat position without protruding significantly over the body. The movements of the folding top from the top layer into the folded back position and vice versa are in no way hindered by the scissor mechanism which determines the position of the roof bows.
