Description
Internal combustion engine with insert cylinder. Internal combustion engines with an insert cylinder which has a flange for fastening which is set up for a coolant to pass through are known. In particular, designs are known in which the flange of the insert cylinder has openings for the passage of the coolant circulating in the cooling chambers of the cylinder cover and the cylinder.
It is also known to form one of the Dichtungsstel len with the cover and the outer Zylin dermantel having, with the insert cylinder made of one piece flange as an annular, self-contained hollow body and set up for the passage of a coolant.
The invention relates to an internal combustion engine with an insert cylinder and enables uneven thermal stresses to be avoided. According to the invention, a flange produced as a body is provided on the insert cylinder for the attachment, which flange is provided with an annular cavity and is set up for the flow of a coolant. The flange of the insert cylinder advantageously consists of at least two parts, which are connected to one another by welding.
At least one: the parts of the flange can consist of a special steel.
An embodiment of the subject invention is shown schematically in the drawing.
The insert cylinder 1 is pressed with the flange 5 by means of the cylinder cover 2 by bolts 3 against the cylinder jacket 4. The flange 5 is produced as a body in itself and is provided with an annular cavity 7. It is fastened to the insert cylinder by a screw connection 6 be. Coolant is fed to the cavity 7 through a line 8. The Ablei device takes place through the line 9. The cooling spaces 10 between the cylinder jacket 4 and the insert cylinder are connected through the Lei device 11 with the cooling space 12 of the cylinder cover.
The flange 5 consists of two pieces 5 and which are united by welding 13 to form a body.
The flange 5 can of course also be shrunk onto the insert cylinder. The design described not only makes it easy to replace the parts of the cylinder exposed to the greatest temperatures, but also compensates for the thermal stress of these parts. In addition, it allows the use of special material, for example a special steel, for the entire flange, or only for part of it.
