Tubular return cooler heater for continuous pasteurization of liquids. The subject of the present patent is a tubular cooler heater for the continuous pasteurization of liquids, in particular fruit juices and milk. The invention enables a continuous pasteurization or also sterilization in the thinnest possible layer to be achieved by means of a vertical pipe system, with simultaneous heat recovery in countercurrent.
The shown in the drawing, an embodiment of the invention was forming apparatus has an outer jacket tube 1, the bottom with an inlet nozzle 2 and above with a cover 3 is seen ver, in which connections 4 and 5 are provided for thermometers and fittings. The upper part of the jacket tube 1 is surrounded by a heating jacket 6 which can be heated by means of steam, hot water or electricity and which transfers the heat necessary for heating the liquid to the liquid to be sterilized. The man telrohr 1 is provided with insulation 7 to protect against heat losses. The replacement pipe B is arranged concentrically in the jacket pipe 1 and held by spacer ribs 12.
In the open-top exchange tube 8 is arranged concentrically the displacement tube 9, which is closed at the top in a conical or streamlined manner and has radial holes or slots 10 below for the discharge of the liquid into the central drain tube 11. Immediately above the openings 10, the displacement tube 9 is also closed in order not to form any deposits for dirt.
Small spacer ribs 12, which are attached to the outside of the displacer and exchange tube, always require uniform, concentric spacing of the tubes. The sealing of the tubes against each other. and against the outside can be effected by flanges 13 with suitable seals. These flanges are pressed onto the base 16 by means of clamping screws or clamping lever locks 14. Since the effective cross-section on which the pressure acts is small even with relatively high internal pressure, the pressure required for sealing can be generated with ease by the clamping lever or screws.
The so-called rice holding zone 15 is obtained by increasing the flow cross-section between the exchange pipe 8, cover 3 and head of the displacement pipe 9. By changing the displacement length, that is, by adjusting mutually movable parts of the pipe 9, the hot holding zone can be varied.
The building material for the apparatus is conveniently metal or iron, which can be chosen to be sufficiently robust for the respective purpose.
The apparatus works as follows: The liquid conveyed through the apparatus by means of pressure or vacuum enters the jacket tube 1 at the inlet connection 2 and rises in the thin annular gap 18 between jacket tube 1 and replacement tube 8 and reaches the rice holding zone 15. From here the liquid flows through the Space 19 between the inner wall of the tube 8 and the displacer tube 9 downwards and through the openings 10 into the drain pipe 11. The liquid rising in the gap 18 absorbs the heat from the liquid flowing in the space 19 to still pass through in the upper part the heating jacket 6 to be heated to the desired pasteurization or sterilization temperature.
In the ice-holding zone 15, the liquid is kept at the temperature for some time as a result of the reduced speed in order to further improve the bactericidal effect. The outflow of the heated liquid between the exchange pipe and the displacement pipe enables extensive recovery of the heat, depending on the size of the exchange area and the speed. By regulating the heating and the flow rate, the heating can be influenced as desired.
Since the exchange tube 8 is under the same pressure inside and outside, it can be kept extremely thin, which favors the heat exchange between the inflow and outflow of the liquid.
