Control mechanism with free oscillations, for sieves, conveyor gutters, and similar apparatus. This invention relates to a free-oscillating control mechanism, for the set, conveyor gutters or the like; this mechanism makes use of crankshafts balanced by counterweights and supported in oscillating bearings.
Compared to known devices of this kind, the new point here lies in that the bearings of the crankshaft as well as the body to which oscillations are to be imparted are supported by struts which are elastic in themselves. and rigidly blocked to their supports.
As a result of this arrangement, and thanks to the elastic force first stored and then restored at each of the oscillations, the system performs the very characteristic and typical jerking movement, by parallel oscillations, which is moreover essential to have a energetic sieving or infallible and efficient transport. The drawing gives, by way of example, a schematic representation of three embodiments of the object of this invention, as well as one of its possible applications.
To fis. 1 and 2 the number 1 designates a sieve with oscillating movement, 2 designates the two elastic struts in themselves which support this screen, 3 designates the control crank shaft, 4 the balancing counterweights for the cranks of the shaft , 5 the bearings of the latter and 6 the connecting rod uniting the screen with the crank shaft. The latter can be actuated either by a belt louse or in any other suitable manner.
It will be noted that the two bearings 5 of the shaft 3 are arranged to be able to oscillate. In the exemplary embodiment, this is achieved by fixing these bearings to the free ends of elastic props 7 made of metal, rod, etc. which, on the other hand, are attached either to the same supporting frame as the screen, or to a frame of special construction. These elastic props, like those of the sieve 1, are brought together in pairs.
This being said, if the crankshaft is rotated, the screen will have to oscillate. But, up to a certain point, the bearings 5 of the crankshaft will also participate in the oscillation, and thus the jolts undergone by them will be balanced or neutralized instead of be, as before, transmitted to the fixed frame carrying said bearings. This combination of oscillatory movements causes the sieve to perform a determined course, which can, also during operation, be modified because the oscillating bearings 5 are connected to one (or more than one) spring 8, the force of which tension can be adjusted by means of screws 9.
Instead of reacting against the oscillating movement of the elastic supports of the bearings 7, by the action of adjustable springs, one could also, as indicated in FIG. 3, make the supports vertically adjustable by means of screws 10, which would result in a modification of their free length.
One could also, as indicated in fig. 4, attach in suspension to the bearings 5 an adjustable counterweight 11, which would again have the result of influencing the oscillatory movement.
In addition, there could also be several sieves actuated by a single mechanical control with oscillations, the elastic props of the bearings could be constituted by rods, reeds or rat metal bars stained together in bundles in an arrangement either suspended or erected vertically.
Figs. 5 and 6 show a practical mode of use of the oscillatory control thus arranged in application to a semolina and fine finot sasseur.
In these figures, 12 designates the frame of the machine, 13 the feed hopper, 14 the oscillating sieve sieves below this hopper, 15 the eccentrics of the control, 16 the connecting rods which connect the eccentrics to these sieves. .
According to the invention, the bearings 17 of the eccentric shaft 18 are placed on elastic struts 19 which are connected two by two and are, on the other hand, fixedly attached to the frame of the machine. Likewise, the screens 14 are carried by similar spring props 20 and also connected two by two. In addition, at two diametrically opposed points of the connecting rod heads are attached tension springs 21, the tension of which can be varied at will by means of adjusting nuts.
When the eccentrics 15 rotate, the entire system begins to oscillate, and the oscillations are accomplished according to a determined rhythm, on the one hand by the elastic action of the props 19 and 20, on the other hand by that of the tractor springs 21.
