Process for the preparation of gupferazo dyes. In German Patent No. 474997, a process for the preparation of complex metal compounds of ortho-oxyazo dyes is described. It consists in treating azo dyes which contain oxalkyl groups in the ortho position to the azo group, under conditions under which the alkyl radical is split off, with metal compounds capable of forming complex metal compounds of dyes.
The process is generally carried out in such a way that the dyes with the metal compounds are heated in the presence of water under pressure to temperatures above 1000 ; In many cases, it is sufficient to boil the reaction mixture for a long time at the reflux condenser at normal pressure.
It has now been found that copper compounds of ortho-oxyazo dyes from those azo dyes which contain at least one substituted or unsubstituted alkyloxy group in the ortho position to at least one azo group can be obtained in a convenient manner by the fact that the representation of these copper compounds in the presence of organic bases, such as. B. pyridine, hexahydroethylaniline, dimethylamine, etc. before takes.
Due to the presence of the bases, the production of the copper compounds is made possible in general by heating under normal pressure.
Monovalent and divalent copper compounds can be used as copper compounds, as well as metallic copper in the presence of divalent copper compounds.
Example 1: 20 g of the monoazo dye from 1 mol of diazotized 4-nitro-2-amino-1-methoxybenzene and 1 mol of 2-naphthol-6-sulfonic acid are mixed with 15 g of copper sulfate and 50 cm 'pyridine briefly boiled. The precipitated copper compound is filtered off and dried. In this way a dark powder is obtained that dyes wool red.
Example 2: 20 g of the disazo dye from 2 moles of 2-amino-1-methoxybenzene-4-sulfonic acid and 1 112o1 5,5'-dioxy-2,2'-dinaphthylamine-7,7'- Disulfonic acid is refluxed for 2 hours in 1 liter of water with 8 grams of copper chloride and 40 cm3 of pyridine. The initially bluish-red solution becomes more and more violet until the color no longer changes after boiling for 2 hours.
By salting out and filtering off, a copper compound is obtained after drying, which dissolves in water with a purple color and stains cotton, silk and rayon purple. The dyeings are alkali-proof and very lightfast. Example 3: If the pyridine is replaced by dimethylamine in example 2, a dye is also obtained which dyes cotton, silk and rayon purple.
Example If the pyridine in Example 2 is replaced by hexahydroethylanilir, a red-violet dye is obtained through prolonged boiling, which dyes cotton, silk and viscose red-violet. Example 5:
30 g of the azo dye from 1 1M1 2-amino-1-methoxybenzene-4-sulfomethylamide + 1 mol of 5,5'-dioxy-2,2'-dinaphthy3amine-7,7'-disulfonic acid + 1 mol 2-Amino-1-methoxybenzene-4-sulfonic acid are boiled in 1 liter of water with 15 g of copper sulfate and 50 cm3 of pyridine on a reflux condenser,
until no more color changes occur. The copper compound of the dye is filtered off, dissolved in hot water with sodium hydroxide solution, filtered and the copper-containing dye is salted out of the filtrate. After filtering off and drying, a dark powder is obtained which dissolves in water with a violet color and dyes cotton lightfast violet.
Example 20 gr of the disazo dye from 2 moles of 2-amino-1-methoxybenzene-4-sulfonic acid and 1 112o1 5,5'-dioxy-2,2'-dinaphthylurea-7,7'-sulfonic acid is dissolved in 1 liter of water with 16 g Copper sulfate and 40 cm 'pyridine are boiled on the reflux condenser until the color no longer changes. The copper compound of the dye has precipitated and is filtered off and dried.
It is a dark powder that alkalizes cotton, silk and artificial silk and dyes it lightfast in blue-red tones.
Example 7: 20 g of the disazo dye from 1 mol of 3,3'-dimethoxy-4,4'-diaminodiphenyl and 2 Mo) 1-p-sulfophenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone are mixed with 30 g copper sulphate and 100 cm pyridine in 1 liter of water on the reflux condenser until a sample is mixed with sodium hydroxide solution turns blue-red, which does not change after prolonged boiling.
The originally yellow dye is then transformed into a blue-red copper compound, which dyes cotton, silk and artificial silk blue-red with alkali and lightfastness.
Example 8: 20 g of disazo dye from 3,3'-dimethoxy-4,4'-diaminodiphenylurea + 2 112o1 2 - oxynaphthalene - 6 - sulfonic acid are dissolved in 1 liter of water with 14 g of copper sulfate and 50 cm 'pyridine boiled on the reflux condenser until the color no longer changes. After working up, a dark powder is obtained which dissolves in water with a red-violet color.
Example 9: 20 g of the disazo carbate prepared by coupling 1 mol of diazotized aniline-2-sulfonic acid with 1 142o1 1-amino-2-alkoxynaphthalene-6-sulfonic acid, further diazotizing the product obtained and coupling with 1 mole of 2-phenylamino- 5 -oxynaphthalene- 7-sulfonic acid for about 3 hours in one liter of water,
to which 200 one pyridine - (- 20 g copper sulfate were added, refluxed.
The copper compound of the dye, which is partially precipitated, is completely precipitated by the addition of common salt, filtered, dissolved again in hot water, salted out and dried.
As an alkali salt, the dye is a dark powder which is soluble in water with a bluish color and which dyes the vegetable fibers in blue tones with good fastness properties.
Example 10: 20 g of the azo dye prepared by coupling 2 moles of diazotized 1,3-dimethyl-4-aminobenzene-5-sulfonic acid with 2 moles of 1-methyl-4-methogy-3-aminobenzene, further diazo - animal the product obtained and coupling with 1 mol of 5.5'-dioxy-2.2'-dinaphthylamine-7.7'-disulfonic acid,
are dissolved in 1 liter of hot water and heated on the reflux condenser for about 2 hours with the addition of 50 cm 'of pyridine and 15 g of copper sulfate. During the implementation, the color of the solution changes to green-blue. The copper compound of the dye is filtered off, redissolved in hot water, filtered off again after cooling and dried. In the form of its alkali salts, it is a black powder that is soluble in water with a blue color, which dyes the vegetable fiber in blue, light and iron-fast shades.
