Cet interrupteur est caractérisé par au moins une pièce mobile sur laquelle on agit lorsqu'on saisit L'appareil par sa poignée, l'actionnement de cette pièce mobile ayant pour effet la mise en circuit de l'appareil de chauffage, un autre organe coopérant avec une pièce solidaire du support de l'appareil et maintenant la mise en circuit de l'appa reil lorsqu'on dépose convenablement celui-ci sur son support.

Un ressort 11, fixé sur la poignée 2, ramène ladite poignée dans sa position de repos lorsqu'on ne tient pas le fer à la main et de cette faon le courant est interrompu. D'autre part, un bouton poussoir 12 est monté dans le corps en matière isolante 1. Ce bouton 12 peut être actionné par un bossage 13 du support 14 du fer à, repasser, lorsqu'on dépose celui-ci sur ledit support. L'actionnement de ce bouton 12 a pour effet de refouler une lame élastique de contact 15 qui ferme aussi le circuit entre la borne 6 et l'alvéole 7, ce qui provoque donc le chauf fage du fer à repasser.
Ainsi, un appareil de chauffage devant être tenu à la main pour l'emploi et équipé de l'interrupteur décrit, est mis en action dès qu'on le saisit à la main, cette mise eri action ayant aussi lieu au repos, lorsqu'on place l'appareil d'une manière convenable sur son support. L'interrupteur décrit fonctionnerait de la même façon s'il était monté sur un fer à souder.

On a body of insulating material 1, which will be fixed in any way to the handle of the iron; pivots a handle 2 which, pushed back by hand when using the iron, acts through the intermediary of the axis 3 and the cam 4 on the contact blade 5. Under the action of the cam 4, this contact blade 5 connects the terminal 6 to the cell 7 and allows the passage of the current which, from one of the poles, passes through the terminal 6, the blade 5, the cell 7, crosses the heating body (not shown) connected between cells 7 and 10, leads to cell 10 and, from there, through blade 9 and terminal 8, returns to the other pole.

Thus, a heater to be held in the hand for use and equipped with the switch described, is activated as soon as it is grasped by hand, this activation also taking place at rest, when the apparatus is placed in a suitable manner on its support. The switch described would work the same if it was mounted on a soldering iron.
