Description
Verfahren zur Darstellung eines neuen Thiophenolderivates. Es wurde gefunden, dass man zu einem neuen Thioderivat des Phenols gelangen kann, wenn man Phenol mit Zinn in Gegenwart von Natriumhydroxyd und Schwefel erhitzt. <I>Beispiel:</I> 180 Teile Phenol, 20 Teile Natriumhy- droxyd und 20 Teile Zinnspäne werden zu nächst offen 2 Stunden auf<B>1600</B> C erhitzt, dann auf 100 C abkühlen gelassen und mit 90 Teilen Schwefel versetzt. Die erhaltene Mischung erhitzt man nun 40 Stunden lang unter Rückfluss auf<B>156-1570</B> C und lässt erkalten.
Man erhält eine graue, brüchige Masse, welche mit 100 gr Soda und 500 Teilen Wasser zum Kochen erhitzt wird, wobei sie sich löst. Beim Erkalten scheidet sich die neue Verbindung in Form einer dicken, grauen Paste aus und wird von der Lösung abgetrennt und getrocknet. Man er hält ein hellgraues Pulver, welches in Äthyl- alkohol und Aceton leicht löslich ist. Auf Zusatz von verdünnter Schwefelsäure zur verdünnten Lösung des Produktes wird ein gelber Niederschlag erhalten ; auf Zusatz von verdünnten organischen Säuren wird das Produkt dagegen nicht gefällt. Durch Fällen mit Ferrichlorid wird ein grauer Niederschlag erhalten.
Das Produkt besitzt beizende Eigenschaf ten, ohne die Faser anzufärben und die da mit behandelten Fasern erweisen sich als bedeutend lichtechter als diejenigen, die mit Produkten behandelt wurden, die nach dem selben Verfahren aber ohne Zinnzusatz her gestellt wurden. DieVerbindung besitzt weiter hin die Eigenschaft, dass damit behandelte Wolle von direkten und sauren Farbstoffen nicht mehr angefärbt wird, während das bei Abwesenheit von Zinn. gewonnene Pro dukt diese wertvolle Eigenschaft nicht besitzt.

It has been found that a new thio derivative of phenol can be obtained by heating phenol with tin in the presence of sodium hydroxide and sulfur. <I> Example: </I> 180 parts of phenol, 20 parts of sodium hydroxide and 20 parts of tin shavings are first openly heated to <B> 1600 </B> C for 2 hours, then allowed to cool to 100 C and then added to 90 parts Sulfur added. The mixture obtained is then refluxed for 40 hours at 156-1570 C and allowed to cool.
A gray, brittle mass is obtained which is heated to the boil with 100 grams of soda and 500 parts of water, during which it dissolves. When it cools, the new compound separates out in the form of a thick, gray paste and is separated from the solution and dried. He is holding a light gray powder which is easily soluble in ethyl alcohol and acetone. Upon addition of dilute sulfuric acid to the dilute solution of the product, a yellow precipitate is obtained; on the other hand, the addition of dilute organic acids does not precipitate the product. Precipitation with ferric chloride gives a gray precipitate.
The product has caustic properties without staining the fibers and the fibers treated with it prove to be significantly more lightfast than those treated with products that were made using the same process but without the addition of tin. The compound also has the property that wool treated with it is no longer stained by direct and acidic dyes, whereas this is in the absence of tin. The product obtained does not have this valuable property.
