Hitching device for vehicles. There are known hooking devices for vehicles such as railway wagons, tractors, trucks, etc., of which the actual hooking elements are connected by a threaded bar whose rotation can be controlled by hand and thus forming a tensioner, to make it possible to vary the spacing of the attachment elements or, after attachment, to bring the vehicles closer to one another.
These known attachment devices are of rigid construction and have the drawback of not resiliently absorbing the shocks to which they are subjected, resulting in the risk of the coupling breaking.
The object of the present invention overcomes this drawback and relates to a fastening device for vehicles comprising two fastening elements connected by a control bar forming a tensioner, said bar comprising a threaded part on which is screwed a hooking element, another smooth part along which the other hooking element can move, and an elastic body interposed between this last hooking element and the smooth part of the bar.
The appended drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention, the apparatus being supposed to be subjected to a tension which somewhat separates the fastening elements.
1, the designate the hooking elements comprising a block a, respectively a ', each having two journals to which is pivoted a bracket b, respectively b', re connected by a ring c, respectively c ', to a hook of coupling d, respectively d '.
The block of the element 1 is threaded and is screwed onto the threaded part 2 of a control bar 3, having a cross member 4 for maneuvering; this bar 3 comprises a smooth part 5 along which the block a 'can move against a conical spring 6 interposed between the block â and a support piece 7 located at the free end of the smooth part 5. The spring 6 tends to bring the block a 'firmly against the shoulder 4' of the cross member 4.
The coupling device described is used by connecting two vehicles by means of hooks d, d 'and, if it is a question of bringing these vehicles somewhat closer to each other, for example railroad cars. iron, it suffices to turn the control bar 3, functioning as a tensioner, so as to axially displace the block a on the threaded part 2; this maneuver has the effect of compressing the spring 6 by subjecting it to a constant tension, preventing the untimely rotation of the bar 3 and, consequently, its loosening. In addition, in all cases of coupling of two vehicles, the spring 6 will function as a shock absorber due to the traction forces and will protect the positive device from the risks of the coupling breaking.
It goes without saying that the construction of the device may vary; for example, the res out 6 could be replaced by a coil spring, or by rubber washers, without departing from the framework drawn by the claim.
