Process for the production of a wool dye of the anthraehinone series. In German Patent No. 280646 and additives, processes for the production of water-soluble, greenish blue color substances of the anthraquinone series are described, which consist in condensing 1-amino-4-halogenanthraquinone-2-sulfonic acids with aromatic amines in aqueous solution .
The surprising observation has now been made that valuable condensation products are obtained if the 1-amino-4-halogenanthraquinone-2-sulfonic acids are mixed with aromatic diamino compounds (with the exception of the o-diamines and p-phenylenediamine) condensed.
The condensation reaction proceeds in such a way that only one amino group reacts with the 1-amino-4-halogenanthraquinone-2-sulfonic acid, while the second amino group remains unaffected even if an excess of aminoanthraquinone sulfonic acid is used. Diamines in which a hydrogen atom of one amino group is replaced by an alkyl, aralkyl or hydroaromatic hydrocarbon radical are also suitable for the process.
The condensation products obtained in this way, which thus also contain an amino, alkylamino, aralkylamino or cycloheaylamino group in the aryl radical, are valuable acidic wool dyes; which, in contrast to the dyes of the cited patents, have more green nuances.
The condensation of the 1-amino-4-halogen-anthraquinone-2-sulfonic acids with aromatic diamino compounds is expediently carried out in an aqueous medium in the presence of acid-binding agents, advantageously using a copper compound as a catalyst.
Aromatic diamino compounds which are suitable for the present process are, for example, m- and p-diaminophenyls, diaminodiphenyls, naphthylenediamines, diaminodaryl ethers, diaminodiaryl sulfides and their homologues and substitution products.
The present patent now relates to a process for the production of a wool dye of the anthraquinone series, characterized in that -1-amino-4-bromo-anthraquinone-2-sulfonic acid sodium is condensed with benzidine.
The dye obtained in this way dyes from acidic bath wool in blue-tinged green shades which have very good fastness properties and do not change the shade even in heavy washing. The color of the solution in concentrated sulfuric acid is reddish-brown and turns blue when paraformaldehyde is added.
<I> 'Example: </I> 45 kg of 1-amino-4-bromoanthraquinone-2-sulfonic acid sodium and 30 kg of benzidine are stirred for several hours at 80 in 1200 kg of water after adding 20 kg of soda and 3 kg of vitriol. The dye isolated and deposited with hydrochloric acid is redissolved in highly dilute soda solution and precipitated as the sodium salt.
