In der Zeichnung sind drei Ausführungs beispiele des Erfindungsgegenstandes dar gestellt. Die Fig. 1 zeigt das erste Ausfüh- rungsbeispiel schematisch; Fig. 2 ist die Ansicht des zweiten Ausführungsbeispiels bei abgenommener Schutzhaube, und F ig. 3 zeigt dasselbe mit der Schutzhaube im Schnitte nach Linie II-II der Fig. 2; Fig. 4 stellt das dritte Ausführungsbeispiel (für eine vertikale Ansaugöffnung des Vergasers) in teilweisem Schnitt von oben gesehen dar;
Device for actuating the staxter flap on carburetor engines. It is known that when starting carburetor engines when cold, it is usually necessary to shut off the air supply to the carburetor almost completely in order to supply the machine with the excess mixture required to start it.
Nowadays, this is usually achieved in such a way that a manually operated flap, the so-called starter flap, almost completely closes the suction opening of the carburetor, whereby the desired enrichment of the mixture is achieved due to the high negative pressure occurring in the carburetor. However, this process is only necessary as long as the engine is driven by the starting device, namely at a relatively low speed ver. As soon as the engine starts to run under its own power, the starter flap must be opened manually.
It is therefore a dangerous instrument in the hands of an inexperienced driver, as opening it too late can result in all sorts of inconveniences and disruptions. Not only that the fuel consumption is unacceptably high if the starter flap is not fully open during operation; The engine speed is also irregular, because the mixture that is sucked in is far too rich.
The present invention is a device for actuating the starter flap on carburetor engines, which is intended to avoid the incidents led to. According to the invention, it is characterized by a control element that is driven by the same power source that drives the starter, the whole thing in such a way that the control element automatically at least partially closes the open starter flap when the starter is switched on and in this position during operation holds.
In the drawing, three execution examples of the subject invention are provided. 1 shows the first exemplary embodiment schematically; Fig. 2 is the view of the second embodiment with the protective cover removed, and F ig. 3 shows the same with the protective hood in section along line II-II of FIG. 2; 4 shows the third embodiment (for a vertical suction opening of the carburetor) in a partial section seen from above;
Fig.5 is a section through the same, and Fig.6 shows a partially sectioned view of the same.
In Fig. 1, 1 is the carburetor, the suction port 2 can be closed by the starter flap 4 ge. In the present case, the flap 4 can be rotated about the bolt 3 so that it closes the suction opening 2 when it moves downwards. A spring 5 holds it open if no other forces act on it. The flap is connected to the armature 7 of a solenoid or magnet 8 by a linkage 6. The parts 7 and 8 together form the control member.
The ends 9 respectively. 10 of the winding of this solenoid or magnet are connected to the electrical starting device in such a way that when the starter circuit is closed, i.e. when the starter is switched on (pressing the starter button), the winding 8, 9, 10 also receives current. Here by the armature 7 is attracted, whereby the starter flap 4 moves downwards with the help of the linkage 6 and the suction opening 2 of the carburetor 1 closes.
As soon as the engine begins to run under its own power, i.e. the activity of the starter has ended and the same is de-energized, the circuit to which the winding 8, 9, 10 is connected is also opened, and the train acts on the armature 7 stops, the Fe of 5 pulls the flap 4 back upwards to the position shown, where the suction opening 2 is released through the full cross section.
The same can be achieved, for example, with a pneumatic starting device by a small cylinder connected to the pressure line - in which case a pneumatic control element is then present instead of the electromagnetic control element.
In Figs. 2 and 3, 12 of the intake port of the carburetor and 13 is a diametrically mounted axis in this port which carries the elliptical starter flap 14. The flap 14 is rotatably mounted with the axis 13. The helical spring 115 is placed around the axis 13, which is supported with one end against a bolt 16 inserted in the housing and with its other end against a bolt 1! 6 'which is connected to the axis. The tension of the spring is such that it keeps the flap permanently in the fully open position shown in FIG. tries to turn it back into this open position. The spring is used to reset and keep the flap open.
For the automatic opening of the starter flap when the engine is started, an electromagnetic control element is used, which consists of the magnet armature 17 and a solenoid 1,8 with a U-shaped yoke 19 'which is energized at the same time as the starter the magnetic armature 17 in the solenoid <B> 18 </B> is arranged to be longitudinally movable. The solenoid will only receive power when the starter is receiving power.
The magnet armature 17 is drawn into the same in the event of a current connection in the sole noid and rotates the axis 13 via a link 21 and a crank 22 in the sense of closing the starter flap 14 against the action of the spring 15. The crank 22 has a longitudinal slot 2, 3 and a clamping screw 24 and can thereby be clamped on the axis 13 in any position. In this way it is possible to be able to adjust the twisting of the flap produced by the movement of the magnet armature as required.
For damping the movement of the armature, the following precautions are taken: The magnet armature designed as a piston 1.7 is guided in a cylindrical sleeve 2 @ 6, at the upper end of which a hole is attached in the end yoke that connects the inside of the sleeve with the Outside air connects. However, this hole is closed by an organ that consists of a thin sheet metal plate 27 fastened on one side and which allows air to escape, but makes air entry more difficult and thus acts as damping when the flap is opened.
The solenoid 18 is attached to a bracket 19 on the bracket 29 on the socket 12, and the entire arrangement is made so that the armature moves in a Horizon talen to be independent of the vibrations of the car when driving. The device has a protective hood 30 which is held in place by means of a screw 31 arranged in the center and which covers the other parts of the device from the outside.
In the embodiment shown in Figs. 4 to 6, 12 of the vertical intake port of the carburetor, 13 the valve axis, 14 the starter valve and 1.5 the return spring. For the automatic opening of the flap 14, a U-magnet 3'3 and a rotatable armature 34 consist of the electromagnetic control member is seen here. The armature 34 is in two parts and can be clamped by means of screws 3, 5 in any position on the axis 13, in order to be able to set the desired angle of twisting.
The position of the armature 34 shown in solid lines in FIG. 5 is that which corresponds to the closed position of the flap, while the position shown in dashed lines corresponds to the open position. In order to achieve complete closure of the connecting piece, since the angle of rotation that can be achieved by the magnet is only about 80, the starter flap is designed to be elliptical. The magnetic core 33 has wing-like poles 37 opposite the rotating armature, in order to allow a graft flow to arise even in the open position. can. The anchor is located between the two poles.
The magnet winding 38 is placed around the magnet core 33. The magnetic core rests again on a bracket 33 and is attached to it by means of screws 40. The protective hood 41 is used for the closure to the outside.
The advantages of the exemplary embodiments are as follows: By rotating the starter flaps of the last two exemplary embodiments by a diametrical age, the flaps of these exemplary embodiments are completely relieved of unilateral overpressure, which equates to a lighter mobility of the same and a reduction in the cost of the actuating organs . The twist angle of the flap can be adjusted in the second embodiment by the means listed at any time exactly to the required mass of the closing and opening of the flap, which measure is different for individual engine types.
By arranging a damper, as it has the second exemplary embodiment, it is also possible to prevent opening too quickly, which in some types of engine or carburetor causes a stop. Since the magnet winding is fixed, there is no risk of explosion despite the possible presence of gasoline vapors, as no sparks can occur. because 'a power supply via slip rings is avoided.
The third embodiment with a rotating armature finally has the advantage of being completely independent of the accelerations occurring on the vehicle (such as when starting and braking, in the event of vibrations and when quickly cornering), since its moving masses are in indifferent equilibrium.
