Die bisher unbekannte 2-Chlor-4-amino- 1-methyl-benzol-6-sulfosäure kann man dar stellen durch Sulfieren von 2-Chlor-4-nitro-l- tnethylbenzol (vom Schmelzpunkt 60 bis 61 C) in konzentrierter Schwefelsäure, die ?0 % Schwefelsäureanhydrid enthält, bei einer Temperatur von etwa 80 bis 90 C, wo bei die ?-Chlor-4-nitro-l-methylbenzol-6- sulfosäure entsteht;

Process for the production of a yellow blonoazo dye. It has been found that valuable acidic yellow monoazo dyes are obtained if 1 mol of the diazo compound of the previously unknown? -Chloro-4-a.mino-l-meth - # - l-l) enzene = 6-sulfonic acid is added to 1 Mol resorcinol or its substitution products and homologues can act.
The new dyes have valuable properties: They are characterized by their great color strength and, when used to dye chrome leather, have the great advantage of dyeing the chrome leather through.
The technical effect that is achieved when using the new dyes is based on the great color strength, the purity of the nuance, which is equivalent to that of the basic phosphines, and the ability to dye chrome leather.
The previously unknown 2-chloro-4-amino-1-methyl-benzene-6-sulfonic acid can be represented by sulfating 2-chloro-4-nitro-ethylbenzene (melting point 60 to 61 C) in concentrated sulfuric acid, the? 0% sulfuric anhydride contains, at a temperature of about 80 to 90 C, where the? -chloro-4-nitro-1-methylbenzene-6-sulfonic acid is formed;
this is separated from its sulfuric acid solution with common salt as sodium salt and then reduced by the usual methods, for example with iron and hydrochloric acid:

The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of a yellow monoazo dye, which is characterized in that 1 hol of the Dia.zo compound of 2-chloro-4-amino-1-methylbenzene-6-sulfonic acid is added to 1 Mpl Resqrcin can act.
The separated and dried dye is a light brown powder; it dyes chrome leather in a very pure orange-yellow shade; in the purity of the clay it achieves the color of the basic phosphine dyes. In concentrated sulfuric acid, the dye dissolves in red-brown color. When this solution is diluted with water, a clear golden yellow solution is produced. Example: 221.5 parts by weight of? -C _ '. Chloro-1-amino-1-methylbenzene-6-sulfonic acid are dissolved with 40 parts by weight of caustic soda in 10,000 parts by weight of water.
70 parts by weight of sodium nitrite are added and this solution is allowed to run into a mixture of 5000 parts by weight of ice with 3.50 parts by weight of 22 Be hydrochloric acid. After pouring together, the mixture is stirred for a further hour and then the diazo solution is allowed to run into a solution of 110 parts by weight of R.esorcinol and 100 parts by weight of caustic soda in 4000 parts by weight of water with stirring.
One stirs? more hours. until the coupling is complete, he warms the solution to 70 C, saltes out the dye by adding table salt, sucks it off and dries it. The dye formed in this way is a light brown powder, it dyes chrome leather in a very pure orange-yellow tone, in the purity of the tone it reaches the color tone of the basic phosphine dyes. In concentrated sulfuric acid, the dye dissolves with a red-brown color; when this solution is diluted with water, a clear, golden yellow solution is formed.
